Player 17: Bian Weekly Elimination Selection (Top Three): David Archuleta Syesha Performance Show Date 5/13/08: I am going for shock elimination this week... *heh*
Sorry edited as I already have "david A " in my elimination list??
My winner prediction - DAVID C.....
"As everyone can see this is a mess BUT…if trsf wants to be gutsy and predict a Syesha / Archuleta finale…MAXIMUM POINTS POTENTIAL! Do it! Do it! Do it!" Like Barlo, I am also a cellar dweller, so I have nothing to lose. Syesha will probably endure her final trip to the bottom group on Wednesday, but if David Cook gets the shocking boot, I will shed tears of happiness just like Syesha, because it will be my shining moment in this pool! I can't believe the season ends, next week, already.
mattsie and the tweakness of AI is beginning this week i firmly believe. why all of a sudden does Davud A's father become a problem and they kick him out of being the backstage dad after all these weeks? i'm sure he's done nothing different than he has in the weeks prior to the Top 3. now i am believing this is an all out attempt by AI to crown David Cook the Season 7 winner, something is just not right....i mean for them to all of a sudden put it out there in the media these last few days of D.A.'s dad being kicked out the backstage, seems they should have done this weeks ago, just doesn't sit right with me, bitter taste in my mouth coming on. UGH.........
GO DAVID ARCHULETA and SYESHA
and memories of Season 5 with Katharine telling Randy the famous "I DIDN'T PICK IT" phrase, gotta love the Kat.
I'm surprised so many are going against the assumed David/David finale here. Maybe we're just hoping for a surprise. Surprises have happened before. Last year's Top 3 was an interesting one as I remember...we had votes all over the board for Melinda, Blake and Jordin. I believe Melinda was thought to be the safest here (although I'd have to check the old thread) and we saw what happened there. Although someone had that one all along. I have to hold on to it as long as I can since I'm giving up the title to Vadia and/or Misty next Wednesday.
I'm going to pick what I hope happens here instead of what I think will happen. If I still had a chance to win this I would pick Syesha in this spot because that's what I assume is going to go down tomorrow night. But...we've seen surprises before and I would love to see Syesha in the finale with David Cook. And maybe that article is right that we've heard other "Syesha types" in the past like Tamyra Gray & Katharine McPhee (What's wrong with that?) and we need something different like Archuleta. Sorry, Archie doesn't do it for me. Talented kid and I think he has deserved to get this far but...my personal preference is for David C & Syesha. So with that thought...

Oh, the running commentary...well, I have to do something to make it more interesting for everyone. Just posting the results isn't much fun! Thanks for the comments though!
Yes, but there's pride in finishing 8th! I want to be 8th! I want to be the Michael Johns of this pool!

Just thought I'd fill out the ballot for you so Co doesn't miss it when she updates the group list!

^There's my semi-regular writing stomping grounds, M. We stomp on a lot of subjects there.
Anyway, that above article fawning over David C. was the #1 story on Associated Content for a while. I held that spot for a couple of weeks back in March with an article about C.S. Lewis's "Screwtape Letters" and how it could be made into a movie. Gee, why would "American Idol" be more popular than C.S. Lewis?
So I blew it last week thinking Syesha would go home when she ended up giving the performance of her life last Tuesday night. She's destined for Broadway, and I'm just stunned that the audience watching at home took a talented Broadway-bound performer into the Top Three. Perhaps Broadway is becoming a lot more of a household word (even on the west coast) than what it used to. Also, the stigmas of Broadway type of performers are possibly slowly being removed.
Sure, I want to put down a surprise choice here this week--as in one of the David's. I just can't see how anybody can get past the force fields of the two Davids at this point, though. Cook and Arch have a 99% record in giving good to perfect performances throughout this season. Syesha's had her share of struggle in her performances (perhaps in just finding her niche)--unless she can keep the same level of momentum this week as she did last. It's a lot more grueling now with three songs each.
In a more logical universe light years away from teenagers controlling phone dialing on "AI"--I'd wish for a David Cook and Syesha finale...with Arch and his overzealous stage dad going home. However, I'm expecting a very close vote and Syesha going home. Expect another one of the 33% split three ways situations again--even though that's virtually impossible, but only in the "AI" universe of reality fiction...

If we get a Two-David finale, then maybe it'll prove once and for all that "AI" doesn't manipulate votes. Two guys competing against one another isn't what would be convenient for ratings. A guy/girl finale always plays better. If David A. or David C. goes home tomorrow, then I won't hesitate to subscribe to bringing back conspiracy theories again. It just gives us momentum to swear we'll never watch the show again...when we inevitably will and be back here next year conversing and arguing.
If this means anything to anybody...I went back looking for the elimination picks for Top 3 in last year's thread and I found that Blake had 13 votes, Melinda 8 and Jordin 3. So the majority was wrong on that one. But what I also discovered is that I made a mistake on the final scoring results. I know it's not possible, right?
What I did wrong was only give 1 point on finale night for the "elimination pick" even though you were essentially picking two "eliminations". So the correct method would have been for the people that were right to get two points instead of one. That has been corrected and if you want to check how that changed things...click on the link below. It did move the standings around a little bit. I know Collette fell from tied for 4th to 5th, Greg moved up from 11th to 9th and a couple of other people switched spots.
Anyway...like I said nobody probably cares about that but if you do...

Well, that just broke the chain of #11 following me around everywhere. Now you've managed to brand #9 to everything I do, Joe.
Mistakes are easy to happen, so thanks for correcting that. I'm expecting to finish a little better this time--even though that's more because we have fewer players this time around than last time and maybe slightly better guessing on my part. Then again, I could finish ninth if I get all three eliminations wrong or the judges get the boot instead. I'd love to see a real left-turn finish here so all the points can be thrown up in the air and get a different result than what we might think.
Still, I'm expecting Misty or Nancy to win hands-down. Vadia Nancy, for only playing casually, has one of the best "AI" intuitions of anybody I've seen who attempt to be prescient on this show. I doubt even Simon could have guessed more accurately...
Thank you, Joey!
Syesha knows herself very well and that is why she is able to have so much fun in her performances. I do believe she can do more actually. If she were given a latin song I think she would have done salsa dancing while singing because she dances very well and she has a great body shape. I'm so happy for her peaking up into the last stages of the show, changing her hair and getting into more feminine grooves. It all started with her broadway performance, I think, when we saw that sexy side of her sitting on the grand piano. So, now, we know Syesha is a versatile performer and I do hope she gets a great break with her music career - stage or studio, I believe she will do great. I went to my old notebook where I marked auditions and I found out that I had put an asterisk on Syesha as possible finale contender. So what happened? I guess I was busy accommodating distractions along the way. If it comes down to her and Cook, I will be happy really. Yes, I voted for Syesha last night.
I'll give the regular recap and a look into the possibilities for next week tomorrow because I need to be up earlier than usual soooooo....just the updated standings with Syesha departing from us in a very respectable 3rd place.
Don't be misled by Uplink Bill moving up to 2nd place this week...when the David Cook points come rolling in next week it'll be down the standings! Just as an example, Kate4Chris&Kat will pick up 8 points on Bill no matter if Cook finishes 1st or 2nd so...just thought I'd let everyone know how fluid this is and how if you've really missed on someone it doesn't show up until they go home. Which if anyone remembers my "Points Pct" from last year, that's what I was trying to show with that but I think it just confused everybody so it got tossed out. OK, here's the standings:
