Hey, Chad--I've noticed no one's really mentioned (that I've noticed) the star-rating system on threads. Usually, it's a fun way to rate a good thread--and I've appreciated it from other people on threads I've started. Though I bring this up mostly because I notice there's possible lurking trolls coming here and giving good thread subjects one star for no reason other than to find an insidious method of raising hell. Of course, they do that one star-rating method instead because they know any outright troll posts would be obliterated before even they have a chance to preview it.

I guess what I'm asking is: Could there be a way of making those star ratings available only for registered members and not for use by unregistered trolls who just want to disturb the goodwill here? Either that, or just do away with the star-ratings--since it can be occasionally subjective. Though, like I said, it has its good uses.

Looking forward to any thoughts you may have on this matter...

Yes I agree with you, and asked the developers long ago to make it only available to registered users. Hopefully it will be available in the next upgrade.

Thanks, Chad--and I understand that you have to capitulate to the designers around here. I've never been a fan of those star-rating systems on message boards...but a lot of them have that system. It has its good uses and bad uses.

We obviously have the capability to get a star rating up from one star by voting a five-star rating yourself. Though it only moves it up to three stars after one five-star vote. So those who actually care about the rating of a thread should vote to get it up to a full five stars. If Kat saw one star next to some great topic like 'Kat as a Role Model' around here...then it might sour her wanting to read the thread.

And if that one-star troll is reading this: We're going to send Eric (SirCritic) after you and rate anything you do in the creative world a big giant !
