04/21/2007 4:05 AM Alert

I wrote this e-mail a few days ago but I should probably share it with everyone else since I think it shows you how well Over It has done for Katharine on the radio.  And how it's provided her with a good starting point for future play and all of that good stuff.

It's been a good run for Kat's first single but it's pretty obvious that it has indeed peaked and is now dropping spins on a daily basis.  And it doesn't look good today on YES at all.  So...I hope we're going to hear something about the next single very soon.

Here's the positives of what Over It has done.  I'm pretty sure it made it higher than we all expected at that one point when it looked like it had stalled at #34.  Little did we realize it had another charge in it to get all the way up to #21.  And it did make it to that 3,000 spin week I was hoping for topping out at 3,011 last Tuesday.  Not to mention it reached Top 10 status on the Canadian HAC charts too!

And here are all of the stations that Over It reached Top 10 at one point on:

WHTZ, New York, NY
KIOI, San Francisco, CA (#1 for a few weeks!)
WSTR, Atlanta, GA (currently #5)
WXKS, Boston, MA
KBKS, Seattle, WA (currently #8)
KYKY, St. Louis, MO (currently #2)
WAKS, Cleveland, OH
KXXM, San Antonio, TX (currently #9)
KZHT, Salt Lake City, UT (made it to #1 and a 99-spin week at one point)
WZKL, Greensboro, NC (currently #9)
CKEY, Buffalo, NY
KJYO, Oklahoma City, OK
WPXY, Rochester, NY
KQMQ, Honolulu, HI
KUMU, Honolulu, HI
WHTS, Grand Rapids, MI
WOOD, Grand Rapids, MI (made it to #1...currently #2)
WAEB, Allentown, PA (currently #6)
KKOB, Albuquerque, NM
WWST, Knoxville, TN (currently #9)
WSTW, Wilmington, DE
WHKF, Harrisburg, PA
KKDM, Des Moines, IA
KSTZ, Des Moines, IA
WAEZ, Johnson City, TN
WKXJ, Chattanooga, TN
KSAS, Boise, ID
KZMG, Boise, ID
WERZ, Portsmouth, NH
WJJS, Roanoke, VA (currently #9)
WJIM, Lansing, MI
KSME, Fort Collins, CO
KRUF, Shreveport, LA
WXXX, Burlington, VT
WPST, Trenton, NJ (currently #9)
KKPN, Corpus Christi, TX
WAEV, Savannah, GA
WJBQ, Portland, ME
WVSR, Charleston, WV

Then add time spent at #1 on MTV & VH1...not to mention all the radio request shows Over It hung out at the top of.  Over It's done what it needed to do.  It got Katharine out there, made her a legitimate music artist in the mainstream scene.  She's been invited to perform at "radio shows" in many major cities so they obviously feel like she's an up-and-coming star based on what they saw from OI on their radio stations.  Maybe Over It didn't explode onto the scene like Daughtry's "It's Not Over" did but...Chris is the exception, not the rule.

And as you can see from some of these rankings I mentioned.  Over It is still going well in many places.  It's just overall that it's fading.  Mostly because she's losing some of the smaller cities.  If you notice on Mediabase, Kat's audience numbers haven't really taken a hit despite the spins dropping.  But YES has really slowed down today (which is a continued trend this week).

So hopefully this is just the beginning...how about one more set of information?  Here's how every Idol's debut single (not their Idol single) has done on the Hot 100 chart:

1. Daughtry, "It's Not Over" #4 (Platinum)
2. Kelly Clarkson, "Miss Independent" #9 (Gold)
3. Ruben Studdard, "Sorry 2004" #9
4. Carrie Underwood, "Jesus, Take The Wheel" #20 (Platinum...country songs are hurt on this chart because of only one format on radio)
5. Fantasia, "Truth Is" #21
6. Katharine McPhee, "Over It" #29 (#2 to Daughtry among non-winners)
7. Mario Vazquez, "Gallery" #35
8. Clay Aiken, "Invisible" #37 (Gold)
9. Josh Gracin, "I Want To Live" #45
10. Kimberley Locke, "8th World Wonder" #49
11. Bo Bice, "The Real Thing" #56
12. Kellie Pickler, "Red High Heels" #64
13. Elliott Yamin, "Wait For You" #67

Top Two's that haven't charted:  Taylor Hicks, Diana DeGarmo.

So there you go.  This is my celebration of how well Over It has done for Katharine.

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.
