Well that is anybody's best guess. KIIS isn't the only major market not to climb on board other than AT40 spins. Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Detroit, Miami, San Diego, Tampa and Pittsburgh (and any POP stations in San Francisco), all have yet to really give the song any attention. All but one of those are Clear Chanel stations. I am sure there is a common thread that runs through all of these stations that is the reason for their not yet committing. I am not sure what that is. So KIIS is not alone. Some big market stations have slowly climbed on board the last few weeks. But as CRB pointing out in one thread, few of any stations have her in High rotation. 128 stations playing her in POP alone, but again, few in high rotation. So there is lots of room for growth, but needs to happen in the next few weeks I would imagine. It will be interesting to see what these major stations do when she moves up on the Hot 100 chart this week

It's 4 nights and counting without Katharine McPhee's "Over It" on the "Interactive 9 at 9".

When will it end?

I hope soon.

spins are kinda slipping a bit. We are most dependant on sales now, i think.

We shall see spree, I'm thinking the big guns that Clear Channel Channel is holding in reserve  will lift this song into the top 20 in the next 10-20 days.

KIIS FM (WKSC) Chicago MR-3

KIIS FM Los Angeles MR-2

KIIS FM (KHKS) Dallas-Fort Worth MR-5

WKQI Detroit  MR-9

Do you really think that CCC is going to promote Katharine McPhee at Z100, their flagship number one station, and then turn their back on her without using the other big guns at their disposal to finish the job?  I'm guessing these other stations will come on line and extend the upward climb of Over It.  The song is a hit at this point and the momentum is building very quickly.  Even if spins remain constant CCC could increase AI tremendously with semi regular spins at the TOP10 market stations that are in essence without spins to this point.  The music industry (recording & radio) needs stars and Katharine McPhee can be one and CCC knows it and I don't think they are going to pass on the opportunity to help create one.

I'm completely sold on CRB's theory.  After about a month of KIIS not playing OI at all I had to wonder if there's not something strategic going on behind the scenes.  I am also forced to believe this theory to keep from going crazy wondering why KIIS and some of the other big market stations haven't jumped on board.  WHY, GOD, WHY!!

This is an interesting angle. Do you think maybe this whole thing with LA KIIS and Clear Channel in general is PLANNED? I don't know how much strategy goes on in the 'back rooms', but maybe they were waiting for the song to raise as high as it can on it's own before bringing in the big guns to blast it to the top of the charts? Hmmm...

this week should prove interesting. Looks like she's still holding the #14 position on iTunes, which is great. Now let's get these spins up.

San Francisco Bay Area Kl0l is a Clear Channel station and Kat's single has been as high as #1 and still doing quite well.  Is CCC promoting her here and not in LA and why? This was planned? Are we to think that all this requesting stuff is irrelevant and that the life of the single is all in the hands of CCC. If this is in fact the way the music business is operating, then well it's all quite a disillusionment to me.

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

Don't get too cynical Minnie, I've had communications with enough DJ's to know that requesting (and positive and negative feedback) from listeners is a big part of the whole radio game.  I say game but I really mean business and it includes radio, record labels and the artists on those labels and all the other people involved.  And it is a big business with much research done before the album drops and continuous feedback going forward as it rolls out.  DJs have sent me emails that have said (to paraphrase) " Hey I love that song too, but, our local response hasn't been great so we are backing off a bit on it."  Be proud that you are at the vanguard of a positive local response for Over It in the Bay Area at KIOI because it is HUGE!

Requesting is important, especially requests from local listeners (and potential customers for advertisers), but I've got the feeling that they Clear Channel Communications (yes, I think these stations all funnel email through the same system)  knows the phone numbers and IP addresses and other data on most of the Kat's street team and Over It regular requesters. It is their job to know who is requesting song at their stations.

I think KIOI is very much the national test station for Over It in the HAC market.  In a sense that makes supporting the song there  that much more important, so if they back off on spins for a while don't see that as a personal failure, just like when Z100 doesn't have Over It in the countdowns any more doesn't mean the New York Kat fans have stopped supporting Kat (or should either.)

This music business is too big to leave much to chance.  The road map for a TOP10 song isn't something that is improvised. RCA and CCC are working from a blueprint, with a corresponding timetable of when things happen.   When Ms Chacon told dbroom that "they believe in Kat as an artist" that was true because they wouldn't do this for somebody they didn't believe in.

For a good example, just look at those commercials that  "J Records" plays on the Open House Party (twice last week) and how they seemingly fly below the radar of the music tracking system.  Don't think that happens by accident and don't think that it happens for every artist, it is a loophole built into the system for a specific purpose.  Megacorps are getting synergistic here and for us and Katharine it is a good thing.  Our job, as fans, is to keep requesting (they know it is us, believe me) and keep supporting Katharine in every way we can.
