HERE'S A RUNNING SUMMARY OF EVERYTHING IN HERE SO FAR, FOR THE BENEFIT OF THOSE WHO LIKE SUCH THINGS.

The reality of Katharine’s life is very exciting right now, but those of us who still like to speculate and invent are busily filling up the fan fiction forum. Take a look.

GREGORIANCANT

  1. Katharine For The People, By The People:  Katharine’s life opens up into new directions hitherto undreamed of, all seen from a very unique perspective.
  2. Tell Me, Where Is The Shepherd : A certain little girl exercises her creative imagination and dreams of performing in a singing contest – with encouragement from some unlikely, ah, people?
  3. The Three Ambassadors of the Lollipop Theatre Guild : A hospital children’s ward gets a surprise visit from someone famous, and the visitor gets a few surprises as well. God bless us every one!

GROUCHO
(These probably should be read in order, but if you get confused by anything, what the heck, just ask me)

  1. Rainbowland:  Katharine prepares to take brief leave of her future family to conquer Broadway, with a couple of short trips down memory lane to the Idol Tour.
  2. The Tour Zone : Katharine deals with a distressing "blast from the past" and meets a mysterious stranger on the Idol Tour.
  3. The Kat Who Came Home:  Katharine’s family, friends, and fans have an adventure at Staples Center at her homecoming concert.
  4. A Step Beyond The Rain: Katharine is recording her first CD, going on tour again, and getting in trouble because she doesn’t follow her own advice to listen to the voice within.
  5. It’s All Coming Back To Me Now :  I am so tempted to quote someone who said well, if the career doesn’t work out, I’ll just settle down into happy domesticity. Or something like that. A few career disappointments lead into a whole new phase of her life, and then she learns that sometimes stumbling blocks turn into stepping stones, and a delay just means something better was waiting
  6. Old McDonald Had A Christmas : In which Katharine is dealing with a cranky husband and feuding toddlers and has to pull some tricks out of her hat to turn Bah Humbug into a Merry Christmas.
  7. Identity Crisis:  In which Katharine's "civilian" husband learns a few things about show business, the perils of the Internet, and the extent of his own jealousy and orneriness, Katharine meets science fiction fandom, and the reader meets an evil celebrity blogger, one of K's old boyfriends, and some show business personalities who escaped from HBO into Rainbowland.
  8. See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me:  In which K. has to face some of her worst fears about her children; Chris reflects on an earlier time in their relationship when they both needed healing in the wake of a couple of disastrous relationships and as usual turned to each other.
  9. Mamma Mia:  A new member of the clan reminds Katharine that it can indeed be a big, bad old world and kids need all the love and protection they can get. Then when Rainbowland overlaps the Charmed Universe, a grown up Pookie is in for the fright of her life.

BALA IS A KAT FAN

A Rainbowland spinoff in which some problems get solved and others get created. Broadway, here she comes!

SJWOLVES

  1. Four K’s and a Tour:  Katharine and Kellie Pickler prepare to go on tour together and cross paths (and sometimes swords) with Idols from AI’s sixth season.
  2. Four K’s Part 2: The tour continues and Katharine encounters someone she hasn’t seen for a long, long time.
  3. Christmas in Rainbowland : Set shortly after the original story, this tale is told by the newest member of the McStaff, her personal assistant John, who has to deal with a Katharine who is burning up Broadway but missing her family more and more the closer it gets to Christmas. He understands, because he left his heart back in the valley too. When you get caught between the moon and New York City, sometimes the best that you can do is…. go shopping!

After a long dry spell I am finally writing Episode VII, and while I think my episodes are a little more linear than Star Wars, this one encompasses a lot of different time periods in its exploration of the relationship between the McDonald-McPhee clan and a certain celebrity blogger who seems to have taken a BIG dislike to them. Part of the fun was inventing a whole Broadway show, at least I don't think it's ever been done as a musical. And then there's a segment where the Entourage universe crosses with Rainbowland and you just have to to suspend disbelief and go with it. Ari Gold lives! Run for your lives!

Sweet. A couple of weeks ago I just happened to reread the Rainbowland stories. When finished, I thought to myself, "I wonder if anymore will be written?" Can't wait to read the newest addition.

It's overdue for all of us triumvirate fanfictioners (well, let's make it a quartet, quintet or more if possible) to come up with something new after a six-month hiatus. I'm more looking forward to Groucho's new "Rainbowland" material, however, because he has a real human element to his that exceeds all of ours.

To be honest, I wasn't really planning on writing any more fanfics after that Christmas-themed one. But I'll see if I can conjure up something (much shorter next time) during this summer. As some of you know, I'm quite busy with real paying writing assignments right now...so fanfics feel like a backburner thought at the moment. I do think (and I hope most of you agree) that we all made a conscious effort to elevate the genre to better heights than where it's been for a long time. You won't see fantasy date fanfics around here. Instead, we had full-fledged and truly complex short stories.

Oh yeah, I just remembered that I started a new fanfic last December that I abandoned after several pages. It was something about a repository of great songs (or a secret society of lost songs) that Kat gets taken into after some internal communications. I discovered that in my hard drive the other day, but I don't think I'll resuscitate it, unless I can make it better defined. Originally, I was going to have a pretty good twist (or more double twist) ending with that one.

We'll see how it goes. If a writing project hasn't progressed past page 3 after six months, it's usually better to start something all new...

I've had ideas clanging around for six months now but they just wouldn't gel. I couldn't figure out how they could all peacefully coexist in the same story, but finally they started knitting themselves together. The one thing I cannot seem to do is write something that proceeds in a straight line. People keep thinking of things that illuminate the current situation, so they have to work out their thoughts before they can proceed into the future. All I can say is, if anyone gets confused, just ask me.

The other thing I do that might be confusing is write in a "parallel universe" setting where my version of Katharine is pretty much the same girl we all sort of know--same background (mostly), same parents, same career path--but some of her experiences are analogs of the real thing with names changed to protect the innocent. I reworked her resume in local theater to make it fit with what was going on in the story, but the broad outlines remain the same. Some of the incidental characters along the way have analogs in real life, but I have set them on a slightly different trajectory. Thus Dina Bar-el morphed into Jo Gideon (yeah, I borrowed the name from one of my favorite show biz movies) and became a business partner, and "Mr. Broadway" got torqued a little too, but I couldn't resist using him as a plot device.

Greg, Groucho and Joe,
I must say that I feel proud belonging to this club. You've inspired me to stay on glued to this site and so I've learned to love it more than the other blogs. I've also been reading Don's stories on myspace. I just don't get enough time to concentrate on writing but I hope I could get around it later. Thanks for keeping us all inspired and informed with everything you write about. I love this site! The people are great! We also got Phee and Diff supplying us with the audio-visuals. Shina, thanks to you for starting this thread up. Amanda, you keep this site rolling with various topics you start. Aren't we all dedicated fans teeming with talents and surprises? But it's quite obvious there are a few who have poured their time and invested their money and efforts for the benefit of this club. We all know who you are and I'd like to express a special "thank you" today.

What an impressive cast this KMF site has--boasting with some of the great fans around the internet composed of----Writers, analysts, techies, artists, engineers, accountants, doctors, nurses, musicians, singers, producers, scientists, therapists, counselors, teachers, researchers, students, mothers, fathers and great fans.....Thank you all for making this site such an enjoyable hang-out for everyone. KUDOS!. We all try to get along and we keep it civil. Bill, thanks to you too for the freedom you allow us to do here we get to express our thoughts and ideas on these forums. And, Chad, you're the coolest guy out there! It's all because of Kat! Bravo to the KATPACKS and the MCPHANS!! Long Live our KAT!

KatharineFans.Com---it is a quite a site! It's actually a club!

(Please excuse me if I didn't get to mention more names, but if you belong to this site, you're as valuable and thanks to you too.)

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Story #9 is on its way. The McPhees are really turning into a show business dynasty, Pookie grows up, and all hell breaks loose. Literally.

I hadn't checked this for quite awhile.  Good to see some people are out there reading these.  I haven't had anything come to me for awhile.  Hopefully, I can figure something out and share it with everyone.  In the meantime, we do have a new Groucho-written one due pretty soon.  At least it should be soon...or is it here and I missed it?

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.

#9 has been submitted but isn't quite here yet. Stay tuned.

It usually helps me a lot if I can visualize the characters I'm writing about, and I do know pretty much what most of the Rainbowlanders look like and sound like, but I haven't got Pookie quite clear yet. Every time I see a picture of Shiloh Pitt, I think that's probably something like what Pookie looked like when she was that age (in her "why doesn't she talk?" stage). Now I'm trying to figure out what she looks like as an adult, just for the heck of it. Maybe something like Amy Smart in Butterfly Effect? The other day I saw a picture of Michelle Williams that could almost be her. She's the blonde Nordic Aryan one in the family.  Well, on reflection, I guess there is more than one, mostly from the McDonald side of the family, but the McPhees all seem to be a dark-haired bunch.

After the story is up, I invite anyone who gets a notion to post a picture that seems to fit the girl in the story.
