Yeah , and when I logged on here last night there were over 700 viewing.
Well, Phee, are you satisfied? We've got a lot of raving on here now. How many ways can you say she knocked it out of the park? And didn't even break a sweat. She doesn't have to do anything but stand there and look gorgeous and sound fantastic.
In fact she is the embodiment of that song - which I already said could be considered the companion piece to She's Got A Way, so now she and Nick are even. Both songs speak to the powerful and mysterious way some people have of (sorry, gotta quote Paula) piercing right to your heart, and you can't really explain it because words will never come close. All you can say to people is, hasn't this ever happened to you? You know, the lightning bolt strike, that... something... that just happens with some people but not others? The way they grab you and never let go. The way they stand out from the crowd, that special radiance they seem to have, and you're never quite sure if anyone can see it but you, but you know it's there, and it attracts you like no other. Whatever it is. And you'll never quite know, and you'll never quite be able to explain it, but you'll never doubt it either. It's as ineffable as a religious experience.
And I love the way she's able to blend the old and the new, looking quite contemporary while singing a classic song, making everything fit together. If she'd worn a more traditional long gown, she'd have added a much "older" vibe to the song. That's kind of what the Beatles do anyway--they burst on the scene in the 60's, for pete's sake, and yet they're still around and still loved. But they'll always have a bit of a rebel vibe to them. They were an amalgamation of everything. Something for everyone. Something in the way they moved....
I'm totaly satisfied. I was a bit worried about the song choice. This was perfect. I now think she could do an awesome job interpreting any Beatle song or any song period. And it is the interpretation here that is so captivating - the choice of note and the phrasing. And her voice never sounded sweeter or richer.
sorry for the double post up there, i didn't know how to delete it, sorry.
hello to all of the Katharine fans that have not been here for awhile, great to see y'all again, love reading all the comments about the most amazing American Idol night of recent......collette, hey girl, hope all is good with you and yes Katharine's appearance will be talked about for the rest of the season.
heiiiiiiiiii maddster.. miss you sooo much.. i've been hiding in the lurkdom and want to celebrate this moment with all mcphans here..
Yea, i watched it again and again.. the chemistry between her and david was incredible..
i always feel he's fallin in love with her from the first day they met.
My golden verse for the night: "She sings so magnificiently, it's just amazing!!", and it's coming from someone who has 14 grammys, not Simon, Randy, or ..... who cares! David, I love you!
we have the same taste with someone who has 14 grammys!!!!
Katharine was pure magic....mesmerizing! After finally, watching the show (very late last night) I concur with everything that has been said about her performance. The only thing that I can add is that her magic (for me) is in her ability to totally transport you, even for just a few moments, to a perfect world where there is no sadness....just pure light and beauty. To borrow from Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore, she just takes you to your "Happy Place". Now that's a true gift to the world! I don't think there are many artists capable of performing such magic.
Performance has also put Kat's CD back on the iTunes Pop 100!!
That was brilliant, that was hot!
She's one of the most naturally talented woman singers I've ever heard of. And what chemistry she's with David Foster. I'm pretty much sure there will be many moments of magic at the album they're working on. Can't wait
Can anybody among fellow members here enlight me, what exactly has David Foster said to Simon Cowell from the stage and what has Simon critised Kat for recently?
CD is now up to #82 on Pop100 on iTunes!!!!!!!!!!!

According to Nancy's report from on site...not sure if it's here yet...maybe it is. Both Randy & Paula were very nice to Katharine after she was done singing. I guess Randy had his arm around her the whole time. Simon...eh, didn't seem that interested in talking to her I guess.
That must have been the same guy that wrote the article about how the male contestants on Idol are just there to support the female performers. I believ he called her the "Great McPhee" in the previous article.
What's a poppet?
I haven't posted in quite a while (been lurking though). But just like everyone else here, I had to post today after the magic that is Katharine McPhee performed last night. Last night was classic Katharine. THAT'S the Kat we all love! She was totally in her element. What an amazing voice she has. I loved how she didn't oversing it. The little bluesy riff at the end was perfect. Reminded me of how she ended 'Someone to Watch Over Me.' What control she has with her instrument. A true master she is. And you gotta love David Foster. What a hero he is to her (and to us). Thank you David for taking our Kat under your wing (finally).
And I gotta give kudos to American Idol. They righted a wrong from last year and gave Katharine a prime spot on the show. I take back what I said about them last year. So, to AI, thank you. But most of all, A BIG THANK YOU to Kat. Welcome back in a big way! We know you're going to do GREAT things with David Foster! We love you, girl! Go Kat Go!
As of this moment it's #63!!! WOW! That's a meteoric rise!
Welcome dantheman! KMF is a great place to experience all things Katharine!
Yeah baby! Feel the McPheever!
