Hi Mattsie...I continue to enjoy your sensual,in-depth Kat descriptions!!!I would add the mauve dress Kat wore in Come Rain or Come Shine was quite hot, especially as Kat strutted up and down the stage! My latest fav, and what I believe to be the very hottest of all,is the white gown Kat wore inDC.OMG,her look that night was so spectacular! The contrast of her tan skin against the white fabric and that lovely casual flowing hair..but most of all,the low slung back of the gown that revealed a beautiful Kat back!!!Those shoulders are amazing and what she does with them....mesmerizing!Where does a person learn to move like that?Even Kats gestures;wiping her tears and moving her hair, are so very endearing!I just looked @ BHCT on youtube and it is mind-blowing to discover that since 7/28, this video has been viewed over 13,897 times!!(I may have done the last 97!)The woman is a stunner!!

I'm with you, keefir1, a hundred percent!
My latest favorite is the white gown worn in DC. Your own description of Kat wearing this dress is quite a blower. I had my review on that one too on another thread called "The Must See Video of the DC Concert".
But of course I also must recognize the mauve dress, the red dress and the beige dress. Kat looked fabulous especially in the beige.

About the sensual in-depth descriptions---  it is purposely done that way, I guess, for a more stimulating discussion of the subject. When I feel what I write, usually, it's reflected more realistically and I like it that way. It may be a good marketing tool, you know. Thanks for your comments.

Hi minnie, thanks for the nice and big picture of our Kat and TH.
I agree with you on Kat's fabulousness in this dress. She is magnificent. Oh, thanks for the nice comment too. I appreciate it.

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Wow, the thread has officially moved over the here.  Um, I think you pretty much know all of my thoughts on this stuff Mattsie so I won't repeat myself (my faves go blue, yellow, black.....brown a distant fourth in this bunch...yeah I know you know.)

My other favorites though are what she wore in the following:

1) Who Wants To Live Forever -- This might encompass the entire production of the look (which includes the lighting and stuff like that) but she looked absolutely stunning when she did this song.
2) Come Rain Or Come Shine -- The first time she really was stunning on Idol.  She had been very attractive up to this point but "Come Rain" was the performance that, as Simon said, "you became a star tonight."
3) Bringing Out The Elvis -- maybe this wasn't totally about the clothes but she just exuded sexiness in those jeans, the purple shirt under the brownish jacket.  This was more of a feel than a look I think.
4) Black Horse (1st Time) -- I love that shade of blue on her (see my love for the "I Believe I Can Fly" dress).

So there you go.  Let's see if we can get as much mileage out of this over here and we did on the AI board.

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.

5'8" is perfect, but I think average for a woman is around 5'5"-5'6".

I couldnt agree more!

I believe 5'8" is around the right height for a female model, isn't it...?

Good roundup, Mattsie...and we need a resident fashion expert here. It's one angle missing from KMF until you finally joined here. I know we males weren't about to instigate anything about that...as much as we were probably tempted to.

For me, black is the colour that works the best on Katharine--and I think it's one of her top faves also. Just about any of the black dresses she's worn (during the Meatloaf number...and at the 'Today Show') are some of my personal picks. Some people like to wear black because it makes you look slimmer. Kat doesn't have to wear it for that--but only because it's a colour that people automatically think of when thinking of classy attire. There's something about the colour that seems to complement Katharine's physicality in every way.

The yellow dress, of course, was a stunner. That yellow dress seemed to become a part of her persona somehow. Whenever we see that famous pic of Kat singing 'IHN'--you just see that yellow out of the corner of your eye and it instantly takes you into the whole concept behind what she did that night. The 'wardrobe malfunction' was taken way over the top by a lot of guys that night--and I hope those same people remember the entire outift in conjunction with the performance rather than the button that went bye-bye.

I think we've really learned that Kat can wear any colour and make it blend right into the persona she's creating at that moment. Not many singers could wear that yellow dress and make it work in context. It almost seems Kat's creating the colour of what her dress is to match the feeling of the performance. When I hear 'IHN'--I think of yellow. When hearing 'Black Horse'--the teal colour comes to mind.  At least that's what I've experienced when looking back at Kat's performances. Maybe that's some kind of weird synesthesia...but the fashion choices helped with the song's overall feeling.

Hi Greg,
That's kind of you to say such a thing. Well, I thought even males may try the fashion department, I should say, but in my case, because I am interested in the whole presentation, dressing or fashion is a very big part, indeed. However, I'm only after the whole presentation when I'm convinced it's worth it all, as in the case of Katharine. To a photographer, the most time-consuming thing to do is to create the best picture, capturing the best pose you could get out of a subject, using props and lighting. To a writer, it's describing the details of the subject using words to create a beautiful picture. You know what I mean.  It's really a challenge.

I love fashion, sports, music and movies. I'm an idol fan from the start. It's a joy to see something nice, and that's where I come in--- to give my 2 cents, as objectively as I can, but even then, I can't be always objective and I can't help but show bias ---especially when it comes to Katharine.

Thanks, again.

My favorite is the black dress from the Meatloaf duet. Kat looked classy, elegant, and sexy wearing it.

My current favorite is the white gown that she wore in DC concert. She looks amazing in that dress, looking like an angel..I love the dress that she wore in the Today Show, elegant!
