That IS odd if you think the purpose of the show is to find a great recording artist, because that may or may not be the case, just judging by the numbers. If you look at #1 and #2 down through the years, Kelly C has done well, Justin dropped off the map. Ruben did so-so, Clay did a bit better, nobody hit Kelly's numbers, I don't think (or maybe I'm thinking about total numbers up until today). Fantasia did okay, Diana sold zilch. Carrie went ballistic, Bo Bice did okay. Taylor did so-so, we know what Katharine did. Jordin is doing pretty well, Blake not so but he's ahead of Justin and Diana. And then there's Daughtry who surprised everybody, not by sales figures but by getting voted off early. Looking at winners, I don't know how you could say it worked out to formula IF that's what they were looking for.

And I still say if Randy put her on a record that means he has some faith in her, and if he made her record one of the singles to promote his album, even more so. He said he was putting music he liked on the album. Maybe he just doesn't care for Taylor's style. The album was more of a personal statement.

Again you are on target.

The average fan has no idea what it's like bucking the system.
Going up against the dynamic duo-Clive & Simon is almost suicidal.
Katharine and her management have done just that.The crux of it all is,Katharine has some very
influential and powerful people in her corner who know her potential.She will not comprimise her morals
and ethics and her beauty is incomprable.

How's that groucho

The real purpose of the show:$$$$$.There is nothing altruistic about this show finding a star.It's a manipulated popularity contest!The show's only saving grace is that we found our Kat!
Primary purpose:to sell advertising time;to get people to watch the show;drink Coke and buy Fords.
It really seems the PTB could care less about talent and finding a recording artist.They found a great voice with a charming personality in Kat and then tossed her aside;then essentially implied she didn't have the goods!
So they struck gold with Kelly Carrie and Chris....big deal.How about the singers Simon has needlessly insulted?
On Fox this AM,it was stated that Simon is already worth$100 million.So now he's pimping Leona,while mowing down her competition:Carly and Kat.Just how greedy and egotistical can that man be?Watch and see!

You again are on target.
Remember the $$$$$$$$$$$$ is in the Tour's and by the time they finish promoting Leona,the profits will be spent on promoting a Tour.That is where the __Mega Bucks Are Made-

Invest in part one,and collect on part 2.That's the Magical formula,and the grind of the tour takes it's toll.

On the flip side,there is Katharine McPhee_Multi Talented,and no one pulling her strings.
Also she is kinda cute
