Alright, so we're looking at December 19th now?  Wow.  I'll be positive about this although...all those shipments from Amazon with the free shipping...forget having them for Christmas now.  That sorta sucks.

That's going to make for an interesting set of appearances on say Leno & the Today show.  "Don't forget to buy my album in um, hmm...three weeks?"  I wonder if she's going to reschedule some of those appearances now.

This is how I look at delays.  Or choose to look at it.  I'm happy they aren't rushing her.  I'm still a little impatient and would love to hear that indeed the reason for the delay is that they are just taking a little more time to get everything right.  I'm sure that's the reason but the continual delays makes you wonder if something weird is going on (I said I was going to be positive, right?  YEAH!)

Anyway...because I was thinking about this.  Six weeks is ideal, Zembla?  Good info.  So what...six weeks is today.  Maybe something is coming this week in the way of a single.  And they are following that guideline.  And then maybe the music video will be out in the next few weeks.

I think the basic point is...we'd just like to hear something for Katharine about all of this.  That's all.  We're happy to wait for the CD because we want the best possible album Katharine can make.  Or at least I'm fine with waiting.  If she needs more time, she needs more time.  That simple.  Still...a word from somebody would be nice.

One more thing.  I just checked what else is being released on 12/19.  Or scheduled at least.  The only prominent releases according to this site I'm looking at are all rappers.  Well, Bow Wow isn't hardcore rap...

Bow Wow, Ghostface Killa and Nas.

Katharine fits in with those three, right?  Yeah, Rappin' K McPhee!

Her appearance on Leno would have to be canceled (though I doubt she will)--because it's not easy to reschedule those late-night shows within a three-week span. If Kat isn't on Leno 11/27 as planned...she probably wouldn't be on until after the holidays. Then again, if Leno truly wants to get her on there--he'd probably gladly bump a lesser guest in favour of her in December. The problem is, Leno has a lot of A-list stars lined up about three weeks in advance. Though Kat would be considered an A-list musical guest rather than first segment interview guest. Those might be easier to shuffle.

The basic assumption here is that Kat's single will be out sometime later this month or in early December. So it'd make sense to promote that during her media blitz. The buzz it'd create for the album should be incredible--which really adds up to a great time on 12/19...when people are out shopping en masse. Really, this could all be very careful strategy on RCA's part for Kat's benefit. As confusing as it all is--I have a feeling it's going to work out better than anybody can potentially imagine right now.

Beyond that, there's still plenty of time for things to happen. We just want instant gratification in knowing what will happen. Also, people automatically assume record companies don't have a clue what they're doing--when I'm sure they've been strategizing this to the core every single day around a board room meeting table. And you can be sure Clive Davis knows what's going to be happening. Based on his personal escort/fatherly way of walking Kat up the red carpet this last week, I think he realizes things are looking quite good.

We have to stop and consider that all the confusion CAN create even more buzz. Maybe the closer fan community who follow everything every single day are likely to be scratching their heads and squirming in their seats (well, now's a good time for them to go out and get soaked in the rain per Don's thread )--but there's millions of other more casual fans who'll just buy it when it's available. We have to consider the online fan community is only a fraction of the people out there who will be buying Kat's album.

The whole issue I guess comes down to not thinking about it so much. When there's overanalyzation of corporate procedures...you're just risking going over the line of madness.

Greg is right.  Most people.  About 99 percent of people out there (not everyone is following as close as we crazies do)...have no idea Katharine's release date has been moved from 11/14 to 11/28 to 12/5 to 12/19 over the course of the last couple of months.  11/14 was never realistic.  I think we all knew that.  I just wish it was 12/12.  I'd feel better about that.  12/19 seems so late...

As for Leno.  I'm sure if they notified him now...she could be rescheduled into a new date in mid-December.  She's doing Kimmel, Megan on 12/14, 12/15...she'll be in town.

The mysteries of Katharine McPhee.  Maybe "Air of Mystery" really should be the name of the album after all.

It's a bit disappointing that the date of delivery was pushed back again. It's the last possible date before Christmas. We are all anxious at this point, but I know we will say it was worth the wait. Now we know it will be the best it can be....

The "official" Kat site still says 12/5 as well as Best Buy and Target.  So...all we know for certain is a CD will be coming out sometime in the next month.  I'm excited whenever it happens.  Patience is a virtue..isn't that what we've all heard?  haha...Patience?  I have a low patience tolerance, but I also keep in mind, that to worry about things out of my control is futile.  Soooo....I know we will hear Kat's CD soon and I know we will all be happy when we do!  The important part of all this is that she puts out a CD that will be successful; sometimes these things cannot be rushed.  And...we all will reap the rewards of her hard work when we finally get to hear her music.

While this game of "musical release dates" sure is keeping us on edge, there is one thing we can all be doing. Continue to Katvert all of your friends and family. Burn them CDs of her performances. Show them pictures and videos. She's an easy girl to sell, what's not to like? That way when we do have more concrete information, more and more people will be excited to hear about it and will rush out to get her CD before Christmas.

Saw this post made by OldButHot. on the Ai Board.  Thought of  sharing.

Many fans are bewildered about a supposed Dec 19th or so release of Kat's first CD, because that date, if it is true, is too close to Christmas for the CD to benefit fully from Christmas sales. I would like to offer another perspective -- again, assuming that late date is accurate.

The AI5 contestants with contracts are mostly all releasing CD's before Christmas -- Kellie, Chris, Taylor. The reason the Kat CD is coming later may be because Clive doesn't want it lost in the shuffle. Furthermore, yes, this CD is important to Kat's career, but it could be that Clive recognizes that Kat has the kind of talent that will sell regardless of what happens with the first CD. It is one thing to panic and rush to get out a CD so that you can benefit from the pumped up Christmas sales. It is another to recognize that a performer is going to be around for a long time with many sucessful albums. I don't think that in the long term that the date of the CD is going to matter. It will prove to be nothing more than the first of many releases.

It's still a good week to come out because she gets that last mad rush of shopping especially that weekend with the 23rd and 24th.

Right.  And it's not like nobody is releasing that date.  I posted somewhere on here that Bow Wow is coming out 12/19.  He's a very successful R&B/Rap artist.  So if it's OK for him...and he's had plenty of time to pick a date.  If the CD is great, it won't matter.  It's that simple.  And if she needs extra time to ensure it's great....then so be it.

I'm just worried about those appearances she already has scheduled.  It doesn't make sense to me to do Leno on 11/27 if the album isn't out until 12/19.  I realize she can do the single but...well, if that single is hot and drilled into the minds of America.  Then I guess that's all she needs.  Expose people to the "Katharine McPhee Sound"....

My only concern (only?) is that....ahhh.  OK, turn it into a positive.  As far as the Idols go...I guess we can just save the best for last.

technically as in theoretically as in if RCA's promo department is doing its job well, the dates can still work out. I dunno about trying to switch them around rather then using those early dates to really created musical buzz and an amoung of hype for the upcoming album by pushing the single and setting up the stage for what's to come. what I'd like to see is some additional dates closer to or around Dec 19... I'm not sure when you guyz start to skip you regular TV program in favor for a holiday schedule. but there's plenty of opportunity add a few more dates... I'm hoping for The View, maybe she'll get Letterman and how about that TRL appearance... just to name a few

I'd like to see that myself--though I've noticed that a lot of stars do all their holiday appearances in the weeks before that to give them time to complete their own shopping or traveling to be with family. Rarely do you see big-name stars showing up on the talk show circuit on Christmas week...unless they don't celebrate or don't have families, which is certainly possible even in Hollywood.

Even a lot of the talk shows here in America go into reruns starting a couple days or so before Christmas Eve. It all depends on what day those holidays fall on. This year, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are on a Sunday and Monday--which means Friday the 22nd would likely be the last day most talk shows are new before going off into reruns the following week. Usually the last show before Christmas has all-holiday performances by various musical artists. So if Kat appeared in that Dec. 18-22 week, she'd be more apt to sing a holiday song (or so some of us hope). That 'Home for the Holidays' special will be taped in advance (she may have already done it), so that doesn't count toward the 12/22 appearances.

I'm sure Kat and RCA are strategizing every move in that time period so she gets maximum exposure. Kat being on TV during the holidays just seems such a perfect fit that it wouldn't be the same if she wasn't in the media around then...and every year onward. All this talk about cancellations of these appearances, though, are probably unfounded. Her single really should generate enough talk to keep interest going in-between late November and mid December. This comes down, of course, to my ultimate faith in Kat making just about anything work...no matter the deadlines and pressures. And that falls under how good the songs and her performances are. We know she seems to have it in her DNA that she'll bring magic to the most surprising things.

If you look at her schedule a lot of appearances were spaced out even for a 11/28 release date...December was always a possiblity and I doubt she'll have any trouble getting booked on shows the week of release which is the main thing to do especially in NY.

I can't imagine that any show would NOT entertain the possibility of having Katharine as a guest. Musical guests are the thing before the holidays. People want to hear holiday songs, and who better to sing them?

I have noticed that Letterman has a tendency to book singers who have recently released a CD, so that should be no problem. TRL is also based in NYC, leaving the only one to be Ellen in LA. That would complete the circuit of possible guest appearances. Have I missed any?

HO! HO! HO! KAt's CD on December!?! oh man, im preparing myself already to buy it this month! i dunno if i can stand to holding on to my dear heart, coz i wanna listen to Kat's music already!! grrr, it's gonna be awesome i bet... But of course, we dont want a rushed CD, im sure if their delaying the release it'll be for the better, and Kat doesnt want to disappoint us, so she's making sure everythings just right at the time of the release.. the CD will come out when it's its time to.. it's like a baby, really. LOL

im pretty sure Kat's music will be more poppish, rnb, with some ballads and blues on the side. or else that's how i would think her cd will turn out to be filled with. i just hope the writing and the melody arent all weirded out, and dont stand at par with Kat's amazing voice and great talent. she needs some really smart people and artistic ones around her, not some overly-money hungry people who could start taking advantage of Kat, and abandoning real beauty in music making.. i think with DAvid Foster, he did that Fatherly care for Kat, and so it happened with her and the amazing Andrea Bocelli..

im soooo excited to buy the CD!!! AAARRRGGHHH!!!

^ Her website us under construction and has not been updated from some time. That message was automatically updated every day to perpetually portray the release date. In reality, it has been oever a week since we thought the album was coming out on the 5th. That date seems no longer likely.

Here's my issue....one of many, I know, haha. Kat's cd date is being continually pushed back. Every date they've hit, I've thought, "now this seems final" or "they must go with this to accomadate her promo". Well, we haven't heard a word about squat. Could it get pushed back again? I wouldn't put it past them at this point. To be honest, they could push her album back to next spring for all I care IF it means they're going to treat her like a freaking PRINCESS and they're doing it all for her benefit in both quality AND sales. But I'm jumping way ahead of things.

Kat said that they made a big mistake in communication in the time before she rejoined the tour. Specualtion was flying wild and it was totally out of control. Well, we're already starting to see gossip sites post things about how her voice is going, her fans are at a total loss, even reading her myspace comments people are so confused. It seems like there was some break down in communication somewhere. And I'm not talking about between Kat and us. It seems like we got the list of promo's, got all excited about her cd, then they start pushing things back and everything goes nutso. The retailers all have the wrong dates...there just seems like a lack of communication with RCA and the public.

The thing is, the internet can be used for good or evil. They can let everyone flail in the wind, and have speculation run wild. Or they can communicate what's going on and keep people in check and happy. Because if the album happened to get pushed back again with no communication from them? I may have used the word "ugly" before in this thread, but I didn't mean it. That would be UGLY. People need reasons and if they don't have positive ones given to them, they will make up negative ones. The frustration I see on KMF is just the tip of the ice berg. People are very calm here and we know there are rules about what you can post (yes, I push the boundries, haha).

I've said this a million times, but something needs to be said. Not necessarily by Kat, but some communication needs to happen. You have to give people a reason to think positively or else they will choose the negative side. And if for some reason the cd is going to be pushed back AGAIN, they need to start with damage control NOW. I don't know why they would want to wait until it gets too late again and people feel completely toyed with...because that's already happening. I know I'm jumping the gun here, but lack of communication is what bugs me in all facets of life. There's so much crap that could be avoided by simple communication.
