Alright, so we're looking at December 19th now? Wow. I'll be positive about this although...all those shipments from Amazon with the free shipping...forget having them for Christmas now. That sorta sucks.
That's going to make for an interesting set of appearances on say Leno & the Today show. "Don't forget to buy my album in um, hmm...three weeks?" I wonder if she's going to reschedule some of those appearances now.
This is how I look at delays. Or choose to look at it. I'm happy they aren't rushing her. I'm still a little impatient and would love to hear that indeed the reason for the delay is that they are just taking a little more time to get everything right. I'm sure that's the reason but the continual delays makes you wonder if something weird is going on (I said I was going to be positive, right? YEAH!)
Anyway...because I was thinking about this. Six weeks is ideal, Zembla? Good info. So what...six weeks is today. Maybe something is coming this week in the way of a single. And they are following that guideline. And then maybe the music video will be out in the next few weeks.
I think the basic point is...we'd just like to hear something for Katharine about all of this. That's all. We're happy to wait for the CD because we want the best possible album Katharine can make. Or at least I'm fine with waiting. If she needs more time, she needs more time. That simple. Still...a word from somebody would be nice.
One more thing. I just checked what else is being released on 12/19. Or scheduled at least. The only prominent releases according to this site I'm looking at are all rappers. Well, Bow Wow isn't hardcore rap...
Bow Wow, Ghostface Killa and Nas.
Katharine fits in with those three, right? Yeah, Rappin' K McPhee!
Her appearance on Leno would have to be canceled (though I doubt she will)--because it's not easy to reschedule those late-night shows within a three-week span. If Kat isn't on Leno 11/27 as planned...she probably wouldn't be on until after the holidays. Then again, if Leno truly wants to get her on there--he'd probably gladly bump a lesser guest in favour of her in December. The problem is, Leno has a lot of A-list stars lined up about three weeks in advance. Though Kat would be considered an A-list musical guest rather than first segment interview guest. Those might be easier to shuffle.
The basic assumption here is that Kat's single will be out sometime later this month or in early December. So it'd make sense to promote that during her media blitz. The buzz it'd create for the album should be incredible--which really adds up to a great time on 12/19...when people are out shopping en masse. Really, this could all be very careful strategy on RCA's part for Kat's benefit. As confusing as it all is--I have a feeling it's going to work out better than anybody can potentially imagine right now.
Beyond that, there's still plenty of time for things to happen. We just want instant gratification in knowing what will happen. Also, people automatically assume record companies don't have a clue what they're doing--when I'm sure they've been strategizing this to the core every single day around a board room meeting table. And you can be sure Clive Davis knows what's going to be happening. Based on his personal escort/fatherly way of walking Kat up the red carpet this last week, I think he realizes things are looking quite good.
We have to stop and consider that all the confusion CAN create even more buzz. Maybe the closer fan community who follow everything every single day are likely to be scratching their heads and squirming in their seats (well, now's a good time for them to go out and get soaked in the rain per Don's thread )--but there's millions of other more casual fans who'll just buy it when it's available. We have to consider the online fan community is only a fraction of the people out there who will be buying Kat's album.
The whole issue I guess comes down to not thinking about it so much. When there's overanalyzation of corporate procedures...you're just risking going over the line of madness.
Greg is right. Most people. About 99 percent of people out there (not everyone is following as close as we crazies do)...have no idea Katharine's release date has been moved from 11/14 to 11/28 to 12/5 to 12/19 over the course of the last couple of months. 11/14 was never realistic. I think we all knew that. I just wish it was 12/12. I'd feel better about that. 12/19 seems so late...
As for Leno. I'm sure if they notified him now...she could be rescheduled into a new date in mid-December. She's doing Kimmel, Megan on 12/14, 12/15...she'll be in town.
The mysteries of Katharine McPhee. Maybe "Air of Mystery" really should be the name of the album after all.
The "official" Kat site still says 12/5 as well as Best Buy and Target. So...all we know for certain is a CD will be coming out sometime in the next month. I'm excited whenever it happens. Patience is a virtue..isn't that what we've all heard? haha...Patience? I have a low patience tolerance, but I also keep in mind, that to worry about things out of my control is futile. Soooo....I know we will hear Kat's CD soon and I know we will all be happy when we do! The important part of all this is that she puts out a CD that will be successful; sometimes these things cannot be rushed. And...we all will reap the rewards of her hard work when we finally get to hear her music.

Many fans are bewildered about a supposed Dec 19th or so release of Kat's first CD, because that date, if it is true, is too close to Christmas for the CD to benefit fully from Christmas sales. I would like to offer another perspective -- again, assuming that late date is accurate. The AI5 contestants with contracts are mostly all releasing CD's before Christmas -- Kellie, Chris, Taylor. The reason the Kat CD is coming later may be because Clive doesn't want it lost in the shuffle. Furthermore, yes, this CD is important to Kat's career, but it could be that Clive recognizes that Kat has the kind of talent that will sell regardless of what happens with the first CD. It is one thing to panic and rush to get out a CD so that you can benefit from the pumped up Christmas sales. It is another to recognize that a performer is going to be around for a long time with many sucessful albums. I don't think that in the long term that the date of the CD is going to matter. It will prove to be nothing more than the first of many releases.
Right. And it's not like nobody is releasing that date. I posted somewhere on here that Bow Wow is coming out 12/19. He's a very successful R&B/Rap artist. So if it's OK for him...and he's had plenty of time to pick a date. If the CD is great, it won't matter. It's that simple. And if she needs extra time to ensure it's great....then so be it.
I'm just worried about those appearances she already has scheduled. It doesn't make sense to me to do Leno on 11/27 if the album isn't out until 12/19. I realize she can do the single but...well, if that single is hot and drilled into the minds of America. Then I guess that's all she needs. Expose people to the "Katharine McPhee Sound"....
My only concern (only?) is that....ahhh. OK, turn it into a positive. As far as the Idols go...I guess we can just save the best for last.
