Saw this on www.orangebowl.org:

Katharine McPhee is going to perform the National Anthem at the FedEx Orange Bowl game on January 3rd, when ACC Champion Virginia Tech takes on Kansas.

The FedEx Orange Bowl in HD, January 3rd, 7:30 pm eastern/4:30 pm pacific.

Another Katharine performance to kickoff the new year.

william, you must be psychic, after starting that thread a few weeks ago about Kat singing the anthem at another Fox sporting event!

I wish the colleges would go back to ending the bowl season on New Year's Day. If Kat weren't singing at the Orange Bowl, I would totally ignore this game.

Isn't there a bit of history behind the Orange Bowl and guest singers? Wasn't this the Ashley Simpson followup gig after her Saturday Night Live debacle, where the football fans greeted her with loud boos?

I want to see Kat pop out of a FedEx box and...no, scratch that. At least that's an innovative way to get the heck out of there in a hurry without being noticed by paparazzi at the airport.

That's great news she'll be singing the NA again at one of the Bowl games. It almost seems inevitable in hindsight that Kat would do that next. We should enjoy it, too, because that may be her last for a while performing the National Anthem in front of a national audience. That is, unless it's a path to the Super Bowl...

And because football is man's favorite sport (well, some women love it too, I hear)--expect a male contingent of lurkers to come storming in here that afternoon. On Thanksgiving Day, I happened to peek in here after she sang the NA and saw the visitor number go red near 900+. Every male (in every demographic) probably Googled her up after seeing her sing and having the word "Hot" blinking off and on in their brains. It may be more this time when you consider the Bowl games probably get higher viewership because it isn't a holiday.

Yeah, hearing what key Kat starts in this time will be interesting. It shouldn't hurt her to start lower--because her lower range is superb when you hear it being projected in an arena. I'm expecting this one to be the definitive performance.

Which I don't think Katharine will make the Super Bowl. My gut is still telling me that Jordin Sparks is going to have the honor of performing the National Anthem, at Super Bowl XLII.

There is one consulation prize, with Katharine's National Anthem performance, she gets a flyover at the end.

I tend to agree with Greg that during the Thanksgiving Day game, Katharine trapped herself in a higher register than she was able to sustain. She started off too high and couldn't recover gracefully, although it was a stellar performance in the end result. Amanda, dad scores again.
