It should've been out already.  If it doesn't come out soon, within the next week or 2 at the most, all momentum will be lost.   We don't even know what it is yet.  NOT a good sign.

First, let me say that I am not specifically talking to spree or anyone else in this post, this is my opinion on the matter.

I think a lot of people were ready to pull the plug on Over It five weeks ago and the drumbeat never really entirely subsided over the last month as it  rose up the charts and peaked.  At this point the naysayers  feel even more justified as the song slides.  Moreover, I see the pattern will be repeated on every single from this album and that is fine, some people are just like that.  A proactive fanbase manifests itself in many ways, some positive and some not.  Second guessing and complaining is easier to do than requesting  the song  and it is also a whole lot less productive.  Human nature often tends  to move us toward the path of least resistance.  I think the timing of the second single is a lot less important than how it embraced by the radio stations in the nation, particularly the  large market ones that  chose never to add Over It. 

Could it be that the people who are  so anxious to pull the plug on Over It are the ones that spend the least amount of time supporting it.  Just a hunch I have.

Sometime  around mid-May is my guess.

On Open House Party just a few minutes ago the Mediabase guy that that John G talks  to every week cited Daughtry's song Home as "the Hottest Song on radio" so clearly RCA only has so much "support" to give at any one time.   

Addressing your rather terse "analysis", I disagree.  As of today,  you are wrong, Over It is currently in the Top20 (15 today on Yes)  spun songs at WHTZ in New York (MR1) and KIOI ( 5 today on  Yes) in San Francisco (MR4), which wouldn't be the case if the "plug has been pulled".  See Candyman for an example of what a plug pulling really looks like.  I see a quite a few "Pulse board experts" over at IDF and their analysis usually runs about as deep as "plugs been pulled" insights.  Clearly some of the major stations in Clear Channels stable didn't want to spin Over It because it wasn't a good fit (read:urban enough), so it stalled where it stalled.    Kat talked about this in one of her Canadian interviews and she seemed fairly resigned to it.  RCA knew going in that Over It was pure POP format music and inherently limited by it.  In fact, I think it had a lot to do with it being the first single. 

What is interesting but most people don't realize is that the Over It Remixes that were played didn't register (the electronic signature wasn't there)  on Yes or Mediabase as spins of the song and least automatically.  So they really undercut the momentum of the song every time they were played.  And they got played quite a bit, three out of four spins on Open House Party one weekend were remixes.

i wouldn't say the hottest, but it's up there. I think the songs by Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson are hotter. So does iTunes.

New stuff added above. And Home is not the hottest, that is pure pimping by the system for Daughtry. Clarkson is hot but her new single sucks and she is looking a bit bloated, per her Idol Gives Back appearance, these days.

I'm glad somebody does because she is going to need a lot of help with that one, with her fan base she should have no problems at all.   Daughtry just got a second spin on OHP so it is being promoted big time.  I don't hear any hooks in Home at all.

Question: is she expected to do the same kind iof promotion for a second single that she did for the first one? Where does she have time to do this? Or is that just done to kick off an album and after that the singles sink or swim on their own, so to speak? Or would they alter her live set to include it? Swap it for Over It maybe. That may be a silly question but I really don't know much about the record industry. This is my introduction to it.

i agree w/ u spree. momentum will be lost b/c we want everyone to know that kat isn't going anywhere and just keep up w/ another single. it's time for that cross fade if u will, kinda like a movie cut. as over it fades out, single #2 fades in and gets huge and even bigger than over it. it is definitely time. over it has been here since mid january and has definitely peaked. its time. im guessing it will be love story as single #2 just cuz it works with this time of year, even though that's not my favorite pick..but we really need a new single folks. cuz even if over it has some more juice, we dont want it to be completely out of the loop and then add a new single, we want something to support it a little bit as it fades out...i dunno..what do ya'll think.

I don't know why people think Over It has peaked. I agree completely with CRB that the "plug" hasn't been pulled, it simply was ignored in some markets for not fitting with the usual sound format. Judging by RCA's marketing of a Daughtry second single, I predict mid to end of May for release of another single.

Momentum hasn't been lost because momentum begins with the release of the song, and I also agree that the earworm or hook of Home has evaded me as well. My support goes to Not Ur Girl as the single of preference.

Btw, a major label like RCA is large enough and well-resourced enough to support more than one artists efforts. Don't forget, Daughrty's album dropped last November.

Being that Daughtry's album came out for the holiday surge meant alot in his success with his album. Katharine is having success with her album, and with "OI" , it's not dead yet. I expect to see her 2nd single out towards the end of May. Right now what we need is for her  fanbase to renew there efforts and keep voting at TRL,VH1,AI HITLIST, and all radio request shows.That will even make her 2nd single more of a success.Also I think RCA and Katharine's management guru's are bringing her along just right.She is being prepped at a moderate pace to become a known SUPERSTAR WORLDWIDE.SHE IS ALREADY #1 IN ASIAKEEP VOTING! KEEP REQUESTING! AND SIT ALONG AND WATCH KATHARINE GO TO THE TOP!!

I think it is about time for her to at least announce what the next single will be. But in another post i stated that the next single will probably be one of the songs that were put on AOL music. They were Over It, Open Toes, Love Story, and Each Other. Katharine confirmed my guess in the interview in which she said the next single would be either 'Open Toes' or 'Love Story' and that 'Each Other' is also a good contender for the second single. So my bet is that these three songs will be the next three singles. But I am not sure which one will come first. My hunch is first Open Toes. Then something slower like Each Other. Last would be Love Story. But they would all be great songs for a single.

Amanda, I agree completely. Katharine's marketing strategy has proven to be excellent, they have done a great job and I trust they will do the right thing regarding the release of subsequent singles. We have to be more patient. Big things are happening for our girl right now.

And they should request the song from their local station and on national radio shows like Open House Party.  It's is Katharine's  first single and now  is the time to show you really are a Kat fan. The more people who hear it the more fans Kat gets.

Some might easily argue with Paula's assertion that Kat's marketing strategies have been good--but I concur with Paula's opinion. The marketing behind Kat's album overall has been some of the best of any in recent memory for a first-time artist, so we shouldn't complain that no corner was turned. The only key element I guess is everybody's coveted wish of Kat performing on 'AI' to cap off the incredible marketing she received. How many other first-time artists would get all the talk show appearances, magazine write-ups, performance time on Yahoo, VH1, etc. like Kat did? Perhaps some tend to forget all the media Kat's already done in promoting her album. To be quite frank, I think there's been more than ample opportunity for it to stay at the top--but I think some in her fanbase were just a little too lukewarm to the material. Her fanbase is one of the most diverse of any artist, which can make the results of your album sales swing low or high depending on the type of music they expect you to do. That's why I sometimes hint that appearing on 'AI' may not make all that much difference from a marketing standpoint now. Kat's live performances on Yahoo/VH1 alone were watched by untold millions...and people who were going to buy the album or not have already likely made up their minds. Sure, there's still untapped markets out there, though, that Kat would likely benefit from appearing on 'AI.' Nevertheless, I'd wager to guess that many of those same people probably already saw her performances on other shows or on those VH1, Ya
