I am soooo sorry, I tried and tried, listened and listened, argued in my head. The fighting was intense as everyone inside my head had different opinions  it got so out of control that I had to just scream...SHUT UP!!!   so again...I am so sorry but...

NO CAN DO!

I'm glad to see that others think 'Neglected' is one of the best pop ballads written in a long time...because I thought my opinion thinking the same thing would end up being in the minority. That song has everything in my opinion. And it has a different structure than other pop songs you hear on the radio. The melody line in the chorus is creative, Kat's vocals are exquisite, the lyrics are astute...and (best yet), Kat helped write it. She probably just did some lyrical contributions, but she should be proud to have her name on the song. It's no surprise why she considers it her favorite too. It's a song accessible to anybody, whether it be young, middle-age, old or male or female. Plus, that final echo effect during the fade-out (with Kat's seductive "da da dum's") will stick with you forever. So far, this song has left the most profound impression on me. It really deserves a Grammy nod for Song of the Year...if at least Best Vocal Performance next year. I think 'Ordinary World' will likely get that though for vocal performance.

Well, that was simple enough. But, with this album it really isn't all that simple to stick with just one...as you would with a bag of potato chips. This album is much closer to devouring a container of caviar most of the time instead. It's truly a work of art--even if a few songs remind you of past pop songs at times. 'Ordinary World' is outstanding--mostly for Kat's passionate vocals. The song itself reminds me a little of some past pop songs (it sounds a little like The Carpenters'  version of 'For All We Know' in a few passages)--though I know we have to turn that aspect off. Kat's passionate vocals stand alone, which makes it, overall, something that stands alone today.  I feel the same way about 'Home'--because you can hear the Christina 'Beautiful' chords in there. But it's also one of the best of the ballads.

If you had to put this into categories between the dance songs and the ballads: I'd say 'Neglected' for ballads--and 'Do What You Do' for the dance songs. I was surprised that there'd be another dance song that I liked over the others...but I think it happened. 'DWYD' also has everything in a dance club song. The beat is hella infectious, the chords are cool (some jazz chord progressions in there, actually) and Kat's vocals are hot. Kat's "This is sick!" in the beginning makes you laugh...but those grunting sounds she's making in the background through the song make this steamy. Kat obviously loved recording this based on the studio footage we saw from Fox. I'm sure a lot of people feel like doing The Robot when it's playing...

Surprisingly, Babyface's track 'EIG' is still growing on me. I like it, but it doesn't grab me like the others do.

I understand why "Neglected" is a fave for a lot of Kat fans. It is a pretty good song that I'm sure resonates with a lot of women. However, because it is a fairly "dark" and serious song, I don't think it is something they would release as a single or that radio will want to play. I think it will remain as one of those "cult" hits among fans who have the album. If they release a ballad, it will probably be "Home" or "Ordinary World". Just MHO. Of course, I've been wrong before.

I want to add a thought here. As I've been listening to "Ordinary World" I keep seeing visions of our soldiers and their loved ones, gives me the chills!

I've been trying to figure out which song I like the best for the last three days lol It's a tough decision..

I think my favorite is Home.

Close seconds are Neglected and Love Story.

I absolutely love them all!! I can't wait to actually buy it on Tuesday!!

Side note... I was listening to it at my work. When 'Home' came on, my coworker turns to me and says, 'is that Christina Aguilera?' I said no, but she thought it was a great song and great voice.

Funny because the US Weekly review compared Katharine's voice on "Home" to Christina's "Beautiful".  I've always thought that there are similarities to Kat & Christina.  Not on all songs.  Just certain types of songs.  Uptempo stuff...not so much.  But songs that settle in that mid-range just pure singing voice...they are very similar.

My favorite song at the moment is 'Better Off Alone'.  But I really enjoy all 12 tracks so...I think my favorite uptempo song is 'Not Ur Girl' but...that could change tomorrow.

I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.

I WILL HAVE TO GO WITH WHAT GOT THE BEST OF ME....

ORDINARY WORLD

PIANO...FALSETTO...TEMPO......

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

I have to change what I posted earlier...

My favorite up-tempo song is still Open Toes but I have to say that Everywhere I Go is my favorite mid-tempo song. She sounds amazing in that song and I love the lyrics. Oh yeah, it's also very catchy. I would love it if that was a single.

OMG! So I've listened to the whole album (I can't wait for my CD to arrive so I cracked) and I just feel compelled to post my opinion on each song...dunno where to post so I'll post it here
1. Love Story (7.5/10)
The clip was one of the most played songs in my player. Full version is still good, bridge is cool, I liked it. But once you got to hear the other songs, this one just pales in comparison and it's too short.

2. Over It (8/10)
I have always loved this song since the promosquad version. This one is no exception, and musically I think it sounds way better than Too Little Too Late though I think the synching at the couple last verses could have been better, but still love this song to bits!

3. Open Toes (9/10)
Seriously...songs just keep getting better and better. The later part of the song is THE BOMB! It's catchy and cool and one of my favorites!! Now I understand why Kat favors this...it really is great!

4. Home (10/10)
The song is very current. Voice reminds me of Christina, song is BEAUUUTIFUL, vocal is AMAZING, I hope she'll get to work with Kara Dioguardi again in the future because her material is GREAT!

5. Not Ur Girl (10/10)
Hands down the 2nd most played song on my player and most danceable song on the album, better than Dangerous! This makes me want to shake my body, and I do NOT dance. The arrangement is a little dated, but I LOVE everything about this song, CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT! For me it was one of the standout first time listening (still is). Not to mention the cute giggle at the end!!! I LOVE the giggle! Another thing...is it just me or her voice, tone and way of singing in this song sound an awful lot like 90's Mariah? (save for the giggle and no whistle register singing) I'm a huge Mariah fan and I would have totally thought it was Mariah if I didn't already know it's Kat singing. I think that's really cool though. I want this to be the second single!!!!!!!! wooott

6. Each Other (8.5/10)
Production-wise, it's the simplest song on the album I guess, but not the vocal. The song picks up on the second half and she sounds really good!! I'm just glad though that this gave me the chance to breath after the rush that is Not Ur Girl and before Dangerous lol!!

7. Dangerous (9/10)
I still love this but maybe I've listened to it too many times so the excitement was kind of gone...still love it, but Not Ur Girl is better and more fun.

8. Ordinary World (11/10)
...........!!!!!!! *speechless*  This is definitely one of the best songs and THE most heartfelt song on the album. Kat sounds so good, so beautiful and emotional I got teary eyed and goosebumps from start to finish and that's saying a lot. I mean not even STWOM, SOTR or ILY can make me cry and I LOVED those songs. I especially love how her voice gets powerful on the high notes and it sounds so far away.
