Z100, I'm told,  is a major pop radio station in the NYC area.  I don't listen to pop music, being a jazz,  blues, and rock fan, but I love Katharine and I have requested OVER IT 4 or 5 times this week.   Today I spoke to the girl taking the requests and asked her if the station was playing OVER IT.  She said no, not yet.  I asked why and her response was they want to see how it does before they start playing it.  I was surprised and said said why not start a trend and play it, and told her I thought it was a good pop record.

She said she listened to it a couple of times and she "wasn't feeling it".  I encouraged her to listen to it again a few times becasue it's quite a catchy little tune..  Her last response was to look for it in the coming weeks. 

If you live in the NY area, I would suggest requesting it anyway.  Number is 1-800-242-0100.

I have tried Z-100 in New York, online at:
z100.com, and I have e-mailed Romeo and Niko for the "Interactive 9 at 9", and at other times, and nothing.

Everyone just relax with this.  The major, major channels wait on this kind of stuff.  And it doesn't matter what the DJ thinks of the song...they'll play it when they see everyone else is.  That's just how it works.  Chris Daughtry did not take off in the major markets until after they saw what his album sales were.  Z100 didn't play him until December 8th (his album was released on Nov 21st).  And now he's one of their top songs.  Well he's #11 on Z100 as of Jan 22nd's radio spins report.

So don't worry about it!  OK?  I know it's frustrating but this huge stations are very careful about what they play.  Once they see Katharine's got a top-selling album, they'll add it to their station.  I mean their website is advertising her on the front page.  They'll play it eventually.

I got through a few times and they were nothing but nice on the phone. I think saying it's #2 will help with the requests. When I called today I requested the song and said the song is now#2 on AOL top 100 songs above all the other songs that are being played around the country....the woman that answered said..Oh that's great, we'll try to get it on....now I heard the we'll try thing a few other times but I never heard them say anything bad. Sooner or later they will realize it's in demand and then act like they knew it all along LOL hahaha you know how that goes!

Right the biggest fish in the sea follow the schools of little fish around, we need to keep our focus on the smaller stations in our home markets and keep firing regular requests to them. If stations in San Jose, Philadephia and Miami are all playing it then New York and Los Angeles will be right behind them. If you don't listen to Top 40 in your market then find out the station online and get after them, Over It isn't one of my faves but that isn't reallly the point here. It is all about SPIN control.

Katharine isn't on the front page anymore this week.. She is still on demand though ! She still appears on Shelly Wade's page, shelly does most of the idol things. I have called as well and was told the same blah blah ..
I agree .. they are going to wait until after the 30th. Hopefully she will get played sooner.

Shelly has a request page for high noon countdown .. Can't hurt to do it daily.

I have tried every radio station in the New York City area, and still nothing.

I even got an e-mail from Frank (SirDoug) on the Katharine board, and told me the same thing.

Keep plugging away.

I'll keep trying too and I'll be very sweet and cordial on the phone when I request but......I'm really kind of pissed off I'm from NY and it makes me feel horrible. I'm listening to the station all the time hoping and waiting for them to give it a spin and in one hour I'll hear Nelly Furtado played twice it's like the same 10 songs are constantly playing....but they are popular because they are playing them...kind of the chicken or the egg type deal. Radio is not like what my Dad tells us stories of...back then people calling and bringing in records to spin really did help put new talent out there. Today all they do is play the first 10 names on the chart and the heck with the other people...that kind of stinks.
