I like to envision Kat's SOTR getting to #1, just to be replaced by her new single in January. She would then have 2 singles in the top 10; something that can't be ignored.

yeah.. but do u all think Kat will actually release a single on itunes? or it will just be on the radio, because Chris didnt release a single on itunes to purchase, and Taylor hasnt either, the only one who has was Kellie, she actually had it up for purchase, i hope Kat does too..

"Sales  are 1,700 for total of 149,000. "

I keep hearing people sayinf 149,000 i sware she was over the 200,000 mark about 2 months ago, because she beat Diana, is this just Over the Rainbows numbers? casue what is the total Single number including everything: OTR's digital numbers, MD digital numbers, and the physical copies?

Her total would be 399,000 if you add the digital downloads and the physical copies (assuming her digital download sales is 250,000) I think...

I still don't understand it's signifigance. If I were to turn on an a.m. pop radio station (shudder at the thought) I could listen from now until New Years and I would not hear SOTR or MD from this single once. I would however hear the current #1 and #2 songs from some other chart about once an hour and these songs are probably selling hundreds of thousands a week, so again - what do these numbers mean?

SIMON, after more thought about your good question,  I think that people really need to get going and REQUEST, REQUEST Kat's single from their local stations. The more requests, the more air play or plays on the radio and the more sales of her single!  This Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart indicates "physical" single sales only. It's important to note that despite little airplay, Kat's single is selling well and may hit #1.

The BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHART reflects  sales AND airplay!    So,  AIRPLAY is  also key, super important  to Katharine getting her single/album UP on the charts.

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

I can't imagine that Katharine will release a physical single for the album.  I could see a digital copy going up on ITunes but...I doubt they'll take the effort to actually make the CD's for it.  And that's what this chart is.  It's the actual sale of physical single copies.  Which is kind of an ancient concept.

Am I right on this?  The Top 200 album sales chart includes digital sales?  Or no?

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.
