I think my answer would be the same... just try to get to know her in person and give her a chance to get to know me. I read an article online from the LA Daily News (3/13/06)in which Katharine was quoted as saying: "I'd love to be able to talk to fans," but the staff writer said she also conceded that she doesn't want to know too much about the hype. It then quoted "I think it's better not to know what others say." I still think most people would want to know what their fans were saying about them (since stuff coming from the fans should only be supportive, positive and uplifting) but for some people, it might put too much extra pressure on them to live up to others' expectations. It seems clear to me that while Katharine obviously wants to succeed, as do all the other stars, she still just wants to be herself. Have to love her originality and ability to stay true to herself! Having said all that, I think a mutual exchange of getting to know each other in a non-pressuring environment would probably be the best way to spend the hour of 1 on 1 time.

I'd take her to lunch and listen to anything she had to say.I would try to find out her likes and dislikes and go from there.Then I'd give her my phone number and tell her I'm madly in love with her!!

....take her to my favorite Chinese eatery, look into those big beautiful brown eyes and try to talk once I could start breathing normally again :o), show her around "horse country" here in Ky., and just hang out and become friends. ...maybe sing a little. Mostly I would just enjoy the looks from people wondering "what's a pretty lady like that doing with that old character ??"

It would probably to have lunch with her and get to know her as a person. It would be interesting to find out her likes and dislikes. To see how she thinks and what she thinks about. I would try to assure her that she will be the next American Idol but there still is a rocky road to travel. It would be a low-key afternoon with a lot of laughter.

Hmmmmm... yeah... good question. I'm not sure I'd want to meet her because I would be so disappointed in myself for being the loser that I am and unable to start up a decent conversation with her! The only people I ever have deep conversations with upon first meeting them are guys. With girls, it takes a little longer to get to the deepness - not sure why. And those are the conversations that make me feel really wonderful. Otherwise, I just feel dumb.

I know Katharine must be a great person to talk with and probably always knows what to say, so if I met her, I'd just have to hope she'd spark an interesting conversation. I'd probably be too insecure to start telling all the things I dream of telling her. I guess, if I were planning on spending time with her, I'd write her a story or a poem and let her read it at the beginning of the meeting, hoping that would make for something to talk about!

I'm reminded of the time this January when I was at State Band tryouts, and I was listening to all these other sax players chat about competitions and music and everything you could imagine. I felt like I had nothing to contribute to the conversation and that they were all better than me, yet I felt like I was part of the conversation somehow. I just listened most of the time and came to know these people a little, and they probably felt like I was just some weirdo stranger.

Ciuma, first, and foremost, get rid of that "loser" mentality. If you think you're a loser, you will be a loser. You are NOT a "loser", because , A: you are a Katharine fan, which makes you a winner! B: I read somewhere that Kat wouldn't want to get involved with someone with celebrity status, because she is for real, and would rather be with a  real type of person. So, you are just as worthy as anyone else!

 

Also, you mentioned being a sax player? You know Kat likes blues and jazz, she will probably need a good sax player for her band when she starts making music and touring, so get practicing on those licks. Seriously, I think she'd give you, a true fan, a chance, if you show her you have talent. Just a thought for you to ponder.

 

I responded earlier to this thread, but I would definitely make whatever time I could spend with her, memorable for both of us. I'd take her wherever her sweet heart desires to be, all the time talking, she seems like a good listener, and a good talker.

That's what Peisha McPhee (or someone on her site) said about being nervous.

That's the problem... I never feel like I have any talent. But, after reading Peisha's site, maybe I will have more confidence in myself as a musician. In any case, I hadn't thought of what you pointed out, that she may need a sax player... LOL. It's not like I dream of becoming her good friend or anything... I just would like to meet her one-on-one. I think I could gain a lot from meeting her, but I don't see what I could offer her.

what will I do...

First and foremost, I wouldnt be all over her. I will try my best to stay normal. And this is just me saying this, for I know once that time comes, I could probably end up eating my words... I will be starstruck and be left with my jaw wide open, immovable and lost in a trance. lol! But seriously, I will most definitely want to be her friend. I dont want to be considered just a fan. i want to be in the friend zone... so to achieve that, I have to exert a million effort in trying to stay calm. Heck, not just a million, maybe a gazillion effort. I will ask her certain questions until we both find a topic that we both want to dwell on. I will ask her about food, movies, fears, practicallly anything under the sun. Once I achieve that, finding a common ground, and there's still time, I'll ask for her number so we could keep in touch!

1. There is nothing in what you have ever contributed to this site that leads me to believe you are a 'loser', quite the contrary...you are insightful, interesting and articulate...and if, for some reason, those qualities only initially come across in your written presentation of yourself, then you should print out your post and hand it to Kat and ask her to read it before you even start to engage in a conversation...(you should request that the time it takes for her to read your post is not deducted from your allotted hour!) That will save you the time of writing a poem or a story...

2. Shame on you...you vastly underestimate Kat's compassion and vastly over estimate that she always 'knows what to say' or feels confortable doing so....go back and watch the audition video...that's our Kat...more so than the glamour girl  presented to the viewing public each week If she is not...then we have all made the wrong choice...please tell me you're not telling us we've made the wrong choice.

3. Jumping into a social conversation can be like 'double-dutch' skipping....it's sometimes hard to get the rhythm and know when to jump in...but to be interesting you must be interested...so with Kat or anyone else...don't focus on yourself...start to find out about them...the rest will flow as you establish common points of interest...if it doesn't...then you're with the 'wrong band' anyway..move on.

4. Now go to your fridge, get your favorite beverage...some ice cream if you must...and sit down and repeat 100 times 'I am a lot better person than I think I am.' !!

It would be such an honor to sing a duet with her. I am a bit of a musician myself in that I'm a guitarist and also use to do some lead singing in a band many years ago and still do solos at my church from time to time. To have a chance to sing along with her would be such a great experience.
