The Detroit Free Press just ran a huge article with opinions from local music scene personalities, and they were pretty unanimous that it's a 3-way horserace. Three of the five see Katharine winning. The one with the most unfavorable comments was a performer in a rock band whose heart lay elsewhere, even though she thought KM would most probably win. She simply "can't relate" to KM, she says. The only other criticism, and it was really more just an observation, was that Katharine's youth and relative inexperience lets her nerves get the better of her sometimes. General comments were in the vein of "great singer," "the most unique sound," and one saw her as "a young Rosemary Clooney" with "a mature understanding of the soft jazz sound for someone so young." She goes on to say "That's something you're not taught. That comes from inside. She was born with that." This comment is from a highschool music teacher who once taught Josh Gracin from an earlier Idol season.
