This is taken from the PBS special: Andrea Bocelli's concert at Lake Las Vegas to be released on DVD/CD in November as "Under the Desert Sky".The difference is that the CD will feature a duet of Andrea Bocelli singing this song with Katharine McPhee(studio recording)

You have to go past about 60 seconds of PBS promo before the song!

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

Dang, you can't even avoid PBS promotions on youtube!

Thanks, Minnie, for that. I saw the broadcast of the concert on PBS this last spring. It  apparently aired in March on most PBS stations. Though I think it aired after Bocelli was on 'AI' with Katharine on my local PBS station. And it also aired in the a.m. hours when I saw it--so it was probably a rerun of a previous airing.

I'm not sure that outdoor Vegas setting was the best setting (I guess I still picture the Baths of Caracalla in Rome with the Three Tenors)--and I wasn't crazy about Bocelli doing pop initially either. But I've since really enjoyed that 'Amore' song list, with some songs being better than others. Andrea, though, continues to amaze me with the power and control of his voice. After a while, you realize that there's never been anyone who can sing with that purity of tone so effortlessly--at least from my observations and knowledge of musical history. When you see him sing, it almost looks like someone lip-synching because of that effortlessness. He's truly one of the most exceptional voices and people in the history of the music industry. And because he didn't have a silver platter upbringing--he didn't become a male diva as some of the Three Tenors did. In a way, he and Kat grew up the same way: Both having natural talent that was being used in smaller outlets..before finally being discovered by people of influence.

Yes, that cut of 'Cant Help Falling in Love' on the 'Amore' album was taken from that concert. I'm sure he would have preferred doing a studio cut for the album--but scheduling conflicts may have contributed to the use of the live version. At least having Kat with him on the duet version will make the studio version a true event.

It's interesting hearing Andrea singing in English on this song. I'm not always used to hearing him sing in English--and it almost makes you wish they would have translated the song into Italian instead. It's done pretty much like the Elvis arrangement when he recorded it. Thankfully they didn't make it a bombastic aria. And I hope they'll keep it the same way as here on the duet recording.

Just a curious thought: You'd think Andrea would have picked another location other than Las Vegas to do that concert initially. For a singer, the problem of drymouth would be tremendous. Though he probably had his bottle of Evian next to him like everybody should.

Yes, David Foster produced the entire show....as you see him at the piano and chatting informally with Andrea. And, I was thinking the same thing...releasing their duet "Can't Help ....You" as a single as Bocelli did with Celine Dion, "The Prayer".  Wouldn't that be so phabulous for Katharine!

Greg, I think David Foster being based in the Los Angeles area may have influenced  holding this outdoor concert there in Lake Las Vegas which is actually 20mins. from the Strip.  The Tuscan inspired background is actually part of the beautiful new Ritz Carlton where I once had the pleasure of staying.  The audience is made of invited guests from Southern Cal and Las Vegas where many celebs reside, including Las Vegas performers  Celine Dion and  Barry Manilow.

If you remember seeing this show on PBS, speak about dry mouth, the weather that evening was said to be unusually cool, so poor Andrea is trying to look comfortable singing despite these conditions.

One additional word about his new CD. I see that most of the songs are live from this concert and three songs are added: one with Chris Botti who also appeared at the JC Penney Jam  and one with Stevie Wonder and of course, the duet with our Katharine who also appeared at the JC Penney Jam. So, it makes me think that Katharine might have recorded this in June at least before joining the AI tour.

One fact about Bocelli's blindness: he was born with congenital glaucoma, and was blinded at the age of 12 by a cerebral hemorrhage, which he suffered when hit in the head while playing soccer.
So, I do believe he may well have been able to see enough to discover Katharine's beauty!!

Well, I am a huge  Bocelli fan and it just makes me soo happy and proud that he has chosen Katharine to sing with him again but on HIS  new CD.  WoW, WoW

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-
