I was absolutely shocked at the judges reactions to Katharine. I thought she did an amazing job with a very difficult song. I was really taken back by their comments. I voted non-stop and got through quite a bit in the last hour so I'm a bit nervous. Ken

I was shocked by their comments, too, tonight. The way things worked out tonight, it wouldn't suprise me if the judges comments were working more towards ratings than actual constructive criticism for the contestants. Buuut who knows. I got through quite a bit in the last 30 minutes. I only got a few busy signals. Hopefully some of that has to do with there being 2 lines.

I know what you mean, Ken. I admit, I was very nervous when I heard that she was going to perform that song. I got more nervous when I found out she will be the first one peforming tonight. I had my fingers crossed the whole time she was performing, but when Kat delivered and finished the song, I just raised my hand, had a very big smile on my face, and literally said "TOUCHDOWN!", hehe, strange, I know. I really thought that she delivered greatly tonight. Aside from the minor dress malfunctions (I love you Kat and I know that what happened was unintentional), everything went really well, in my objective opinion. I know I'm a fan, but I absolutely loved Kat's performance tonight. I was so impressed and blown out of my mind. But goodness, my happiness was turned to extreme anger when the judges started commenting. They're seriously out of their minds. I would love them to watch Kat's peformance again and say that it wasn't good... they really must be on something, seriously. I voted my heart out tonight, as I did the other nights. I got many errors once more, though. The phone lines were unclogged most of the time and I literally got in most of them the last 30 minutes = lines were busy free. I wasn't able to count as well as in the past since I was heavily distracted by the two phones on my ears, but I've counted 695 votes. The lowest that I've had so far... I don't think the lines were free though... I might have just not counted really well tonight. Thank you Kat. YOU WERE MAGNIFICENT TONIGHT. My favorite vocal performance so far this season. Don't let the judges bring you down.. they had no idea what they were talking about. Your fans will always be behind you no matter what. West Coast, please vote! Keep Kat out of the bottom 3!

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this site. Will give more info about myself later. I just had to post here!!! I thought Kat was excellent tonight!!! I was so proud of her - I thought it was one of her best performances. I was in total shock when I heard the judges. It made me SO MAD! My family took turns voting on our home line 2 hours straight and I dialed on my cell for two hours straight!!!!! GO KAT!!!!!! WE HAVE MCPHEEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, first let me say I voted harder tonight than I have ever voted in my life. I got 188 votes through and that was with the landline continually calling one number and the cell phone calling the other. Now to the song, first let me say that I got a very sinking feeling when she announced she was singing I Have Nothing. First, we had already discussed here that some people don't like Kat's upper register no matter what (I'm DEFINITELY not in that crowd), and so we had already stated she was best to stay away from that for the most part. Secondly, to choose a Whitney song is just VERY risky and this was a song that Vonzell sang quite well last year and still I don't think got very glowing remarks. So in my mind, the judges had already made their minds up to cut her down a peg tonight especially after last week's glowing remarks before she even sang the first note. But to her performance, I ABSOLUTELY think it was one of her very finest performances all season. No, she is not the belter that Whitney is, but she sang it a different style and sang it VERY well. She was NOT pitchy as a couple of the judges stated and if they think that they need to go back and listen to the recording (which I've already done). I was the first to say the WWTLF was a little shaky a couple of weeks ago and did have some pitch problems, but the judges were MUCH more complimentary of that song and this one was WAAY better in my opinion. In all of any AI seasons I have never been so disgusted with the judges' critique of any singer as I was with the way they treated Katharine tonight. Katharine even moved around with the microphone stand and gave a GREAT performance tonight as she ripped through the song and looked totally AWESOME. She was definitely the best female tonight and I thought only Elliott was her equal. And to make things more frustrating, I look at dialidol tonight and there is Taylor at number one AGAIN and not to be mean but he absolutely gave one of the worst vocals I have ever heard on AI at this stage of the competition but yet noone seems to care. Hopefully the viewers can see past the judges as to how good a performance Kat truly gave to that song tonight.

I was just stunned by their comments. As was the audience, from the sound of it. The song was not "too big" for her by a long shot. Still, she was taking a huge chance by letting herself be compared to Whitney, whose voice should be declared a national treasure or something... I got a lot of busies the first hour but it began letting up seriously after 10, so I spent about 50 minutes just redialing and watching HBO. No idea how many votes I got in, but as everyone says, I hope some of it was a function of having two lines this time. Oh well, we did our best. Never voted so much in my life. And I thought the dress functioned pretty much as intended, if the intent was to knock our eyes out.

I was totally stunned by what happened. Im new to being a fan of Katharine (after hearing her sing last week) and, honestly, I expected a bit of a letdown. But really, she delivered and then some. I loved her again just as much. And I loved the spontaneous duo of The Prayer with Andrea Boccelli preceding. That was a real treat. SHe stepped up and was just beautiful. I thought sure she was going to get raves. She did from the audience but the judges?? I was literally stunned and ticked off. I couldnt believe what I was hearing. What kind of criticism was that? Not as good as Whitney so it is either as good as hers or its bad??? Pure idiocy all around and I still dont know what Paula was trying to say. Im still amazed, both by how good her performance was and by the bizarre reaction from the judges. She sang her heart out and I didnt hear ANY pitch problems, she hit her notes, she was in total control of that performance and deserved so much more. Ive heard they will fix the shows to make it more dramatic. I absolutely believe they did that with her. That is the ONLY explanation for the reaction of the judges. Either that or they are total morons, all of them. Her singing was beautiful and pure.

I have lost any and all respect I may have had for the judges after their comments to Katharine tonight. What a frickin joke. They should retract and apologize to her on the results show, but I'm not holding my breath for that one. Katharine's last appearance on AI will be the last episode I watch.

Out of their minds? Maybe. But I think not. I'm thinking that last weeks comments caused problems-maybe with the contestants themselves, but certainly with some AI fans and media. I've heard claims of excessive "pimping" by the judges, and even heard someone say Simon "annointed" Kat the winner last week. Kat has also been labled a "ringer" by some. So they may have been instructed, or decided themselves, to make it look more fair this week.

This is my first time to vote in AI. After last weeks bombshell performance, I'm hooked, and have to vote. I got in over 200 votes by redialing almost continuosly, till my wife objected and marital wisdom took over. After last weeks universally positive judgements by Randy, Paula, and Simon, this weeks universally negative pronouncements seem suspicious. Were they admonished by the producers to be tougher? No way did Kat deserve their derision....She was spectacular...as usual. Because the judges were negative to all, Kat should breeze through, and will not be in the bottom three... She is a star.

You have a good point....I watched the video and listened to the mp3 again...(thanks for the link) she was awesome....a few minor flaws...but her spirit in the song was tremendous...and that dress...well...flattering for sure in a classic understatement...some movie producer is going to snap her up and put her in a movie...no 'Justin Loves Kelly' I hope...

I heard Mp3 it sounded she delivered a great performance... Lets hope her dedicated fans and New fans such as McPhly will make her sit at top 3 tomorow.

We don't get the show until Friday evening in the UK. The show, and the results show follow on after each other. Your comments make pretty depressing reading. Especially after last weeks positive judges feedback. Regarding this weeks negative judges comments, was it just simply a case of "wrong song choice" again? I love Kat's singing and performance skills as much as the next person, but some songs don't suit her. Anyone know how the contestants choose their song? I have a feeling that, maybe, Kat's heart wasn't in it. I just hope and pray that she gets through despite this. She deserves to win the whole competition on voice alone. For me, Chris and Kellie aren't good enough. Chris's a one trick (rock) pony. Kellie's cute, but is out of her depth. You can only give a bad performane and say "I'm sorry" so many times before people catch on. Lol...the sympathy vote. Paris hasn't sung as well as she did at the first audition stage yet. She blew me away then, I'm not sure why she's not done as well since. Too young perhaps? I love Elliot's voice, but if you've got to have the "Whole package" to be an American Idol. He's let down by his looks. Sad and superficial, I know. Taylor's great, and I think he'll do well outside the contest. Whatever happens now, Kat will be a big star. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Good luck to Kat tonight.

Haha... I'm sure Kat will be safe. From what I'm reading on other forums, the judges hav very few fans after their comments on Kat's performance! A lot of people are placing her in the TOP3 (I think the word 'INCREDIBLE' was used a lot) and recon that its the end for Pickler...we'll just have to wait and see.

Usually I remain silent. This time however, I can not. I agree with you! I think it's time to replace the three stale judges. Randy is getting tiresome with his same old comments; Abdul must be off of her meds. The reaction that she had when Eliot performed was utterly ridiculous, to bring her to tears. Cowell was just cruel. I didn't know that when a performer selected a song, it meant that they were better than the original artist! He is becoming a real asshole! Kat performed one of her best performances of the season. Those three, obviously deaf "has-beens" need to be replaced. Paula is making a mockery of the entire show and herself. Kat, just begin recording CD’s. You already make the other contestants look and sound like mere amateurs. You’ve already won in my eyes! Good luck tonight!

Freaking hilarious....I was going to comment that it looked like Paula was either drunk or hopped up on pain killers. She looked like "that guy" at parties that had a little bit too much to drink. Flailing all over the place, crying at Elliott's performance, etc. When you look back the judges did not have positive comments for ANY of the contestants with the exception of Elliott and Chris.

As the judges were getting ready to comment, I had already picked up the phone and called a friend to say, "she was hot and that was one hell of a performance!" Then I heard what the judges had to say. They sounded ridiculous. Seems to me, they aren't about reality, as was David Foster. The Idols were finally given very direct criticism in a constructive way by him, and we all heard what they said about Katherine. As I watch, it has almost gotten to a point of insulting my intelligence in regard to the comments made by the judges and how they manipulate. The judges were wrong, but they had a plan. She won't be in the bottom three. They simply lit a fire under our slow dialing fingers! Katherine is truly incredible.

Really ... I agree ... are the judges out of their minds???!!! Katherine's performance was SUPERB ... she looks stunning and she sang the song INCREDIBLY well ..... I think she's still the best in the pack .... I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the judges comment .. it's crazy ... Did they take the wrong medication or something???!! Man ... too bad I couldn't vote for her ... =(

In my opinion Randy, Paula, and Simon either had an agenda last night or they all need to clean the built up wax that has formed in their ears, because Kat was amazing! She nailed it. She did exactly what they have instructed her to in the past. She put her own stamp on this song and should not be compared to Whitney. If she had sung it just like Whitney they would have knocked her down for trying to sound too much like Whitney! It's crazy! I loved what Kat did with this song. She took a risk on a very difficult song, made it her own, nailed it, and completely stepped it up!!! I loved the sassy growl. It was amazing. All I could say was WOW, as I sat there with goose bumps. And then, I could not believe my hears with what the judges were saying. I thought the whole show was off last night, the way they kept rushing everyone and most definetly the "judges" comments. I believe with all my heart that Kat will be safe tonight. We know what we want to hear and I can't believe anyone would agree with any of the judges comments. If anything, I agree, it should have made everyone vote even harder. Great job Kat!!! It was beautiful and so are you!!!

Brave moves in that dress rolling around up here on the stage." "Thank you." :Kat makes a face, shrugs her shoulders and decides to take it as a compliment." Uh, did I miss the "rolling?" Haha. And, I don't think that was a compliment, or Ryan Seacrest is really bad at expressing his thoughts? Oh, well. Kat took it with class, and this is why we all love her so much. =)

The judges were most definately watching reruns of HeeHaw while the rest of us were dazzled by Kat's looks and performance. When they started their comments, I just couldn't believe it. Yes, we are a LITTLE predjudiced on Katharine's behalf...but only because she's the prettiest, most talented, and nicest person in the whole dang competiton (world, even..:o) !! I'm guessing Kelly, Elliott, and Chris will be in the bottom three with Kelly going home. The top three...Kat, Taylor, and Paris. I agree...it's time for some new judges and a host.
