Yes, true. Maybe people in your area just love Katharine more than they do around here. Which would be a good sign for your area, but not for mine!

Amazing amazing amazing!!! Katharine blown me away! Definitely one of the best vocal performances in all AI seasons!

What a classy and elegant performance! (I love she sang "The Way You Look Tonight" in the pre-show clip... I got chills!)

She was beyond awesome... I was smoldered. I was touched, I was mesmerized, I almost cried!!!

I'm speechless.

To be great is to be misunderstood.

I have to tell you, I was super impressed with Katharine McPhee last night. I think she is going to win this whole thing, and if she doesn't, shame on those who didn't.

Wow. I am probably biased, but i have to say this... her rendition of "Someone to watch over me" was beautiful. It already is among my favourite tunes, and i am a fan of the classics... but this... wow... i totally love it. And her eyes, her smile, her expression while serenading the world... ha, i think i'm in love

Lines must be tight around Detroit because I had a heck of a time getting votes in. An absolutely mesmerizing performance (I believe that's been said but it bears repeating). No, they can't complain about her upper register this time, but I've been reading around and someone had to say just the opposite this time (wavering lower register). I guess there are people she'll never be able to please. Everything we like seems to bug the detractors (abundance of closeups, the cameraman must be in love with her, etc.). But this is show biz, you use everything you've got, and one thing she has in abundance is that astonishing beauty. It may be a singing contest, but people vote for the whole person. Kellie finished half a bar before the orchestra but her fans will still be there voting. (I don't mean to be a Kellie basher either. Even she knew she blew it and said as much.)

Actually Simon's remark about the other contestants made me cringe, because it's exactly the sort of thing that will turn people against Katharine through no fault of hers--she didn't say it. She just looked like she was about to cry because they kept saying such nice things about her performance. I'm sure she knows she's talented, and she's looked in a mirror before now, so she has the confidence to get up there and do what she has to do, but this is coming on a grand scale, and she sounds like she's genuinely almost overwhelmed by it at times. Almost. She can still get up there and deliver on cue. Like she did last night. Wow.

There has been some discussion on some of the other boards jumping on Paula because she interrupted Simon during his glowing appraisal of Kat's performance as comparing it with the others. It may be Paula felt she was doing Katharine a favor just from the point you are making. Simon is a tough cookie to figure out, I mean just earlier in the week he goes on about her looking and sounding "too perfect" and saying "she won't win" and then last night goes on about how she made the others look like amateurs. I am having trouble figuring out if he truly thinks she should win but won't OR if he was just trying to hammer home his "too perfect" portrayal of her last night to make sure she won't win so his prediction will come true. Paula did certainly jump in to try and change the subject last night during Simon's glowing comments toward Kat which were also somewhat belittling to the other contestants.

Katharine's last night performance was undoubtedly one of the best (if not the best) in this season. This morning, the radio station here in LA replayed her song with Linda Ronstadt fading in and out of the song. I was amazed at how her voice compared to Linda. Katharine's voice is even more cleaner, purer, articulate but a little more mechanical whereas Linda's was softer, mellower, grainier but more feeling type. With more professional training and experience, she's going to be a huge huge star in the music industry. You are so blessed, Katharine.

I loved what Simon had to say about Kat last night, but by the cold harsh light of day I see that a simple "Best of the night" compliment would have been more appropriate and less antagonizing to the other contestants and their fans.. It certainly is hard to figure where Simon is coming from. On one ha
