This week is definitely the toughest battle for her and us to face, especially after Chris' leaving. All the Chris retaliation votings for Elliot also add to the already saturated intense and pressure. The only way to overcome the combined forces of Chris and Elliot is by the mass audience, which represent the majority of the votes. Solely rely on Kat fans alone will not be enough to carry her through this week. She must outperform Elliot tonight so all the performance voters will stand on her side. If she can do that, she'll send Elliot home regardless of whether Chris fans are helping him or not.

katidol...I don't know to what substantail degree the Chris supporters will vote FOR Elliott as retaliation AGAINST Kat...even those that are still blaming Kat somehow for Chris' departure (still not sure how they make that connection!?) and choose to vote, are not likely to spend 3 hours 'hate voting'...but I agree with you, Kat has to outperform Elliott...and frankly, I hope all three contestants do their best...I want to see Kat beat somebody who has performed at their best....as you say, let the mass of impartial voters determine who deserves to stay...if Kat does what she is capable of doing tonight...I believe she will advance to the final. VOTE !

Something that came to my mind about Kat and her increased demographic appeal. She is to me at a true disadvantage because for one, I believe that most people and teenagers that vote are women. Most women are attracted to good looking men and some find baldy and the gray guy attractive (maybe obsessive like I am with Constantine) My dh may drool over Kat but will never lift a finger to vote. I bet a lot of men closet viewers don't vote except for the bold ones like all of you men that belong to this message board...bcollan, groucho and jesse etc....I think they are the ones that could get Kat off the ground and over Tay if they just get off their high horse and admit that (1) they think Kat is hot...(2) that they actually watch AI (3) they could make a difference by seeing her perform at the finale with a whole lot of exposure or seeing her perform a single group song with a few glimpses of her watching it from the audience. Come on...I know you men are lurking out there. Text your vote in tonight for Kat. It's the only way to the finals. Please I beg all of you. Thanks.

winn...you're probably right...the voting is probably dominated by women...but I wouldn't sell women short on their ability to choose the best contestant based on talent as opposed to simply physical appeal....no disrespect to the many men who vote ...but I think men may be more inclined to be influenced by physical appeal...especially in Kat's case....if the results hinge on women making the ultimate decision, I'm happy with that....in politics, business, and just about every other enviornment, I've found most women to be as, or more, capable than men of seperating the issues and making impartial decisions....I suspect this statement will create some controversy...but it's not intended to insult (us) men.

LOL
I am a Kat-oholic as well. I am actually very OPEN about viewing AI. If any of my friends, co-workers bust my stones about watching AI, I just respond with, "Oh, so I guess you guys are not into watching one of the hottest girls in the country shake her moneymaker across a stage and sing like a champ?!?" The only reason I watch the show is because of her!!

slice....I laughed at this...it's simple and true...my feelings exactly....well put.

O.K. so bcollan has identified the 3 songs Kat did at rehearsal...

I Believe I Can Fly
Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Ain't Nothing But The Blues

One contemporary song...and two classics…. Kat chose Ella’s ‘Ain't Got Nothing But The Blues’ so I guess she has decided that emphasizing this side of her persona is what will get her to the Kodak Theater. I presume, since she chose it, she must be very familiar with it, so I expect a great rendition from her.

I am a little concerned that the three songs are all modest in tempo, and wonder how it will appeal to the younger demographic, but I trust Kat to give it her best and ‘knock ‘em out of the park’…Good Luck Kat!

I just heard on Access Hollywood that George Clooney has/will offer Katharine a part in an upcoming project. They said they would have more about it tomorrow. Also clips of Kat as a kid etc. Anyway, I think starring in a movie with George would increase her demographic appeal. lol

Somewhere Over The Rainbow....what can I say...I'm not easily impressed...but Kat's rendition was one of the best vocal performances I've ever seen on AI...she portrayed it perfectly....she sang it with touching sincerity and a beautiful connection to the sentiment of the song, without overdoing the vocals or playing to the audience...

I also loved her 'I Ain't Got Nothing But The Blues'....man...she really put her signature on it...demonstrated her versatility...she deserves to be in the final.

'I Believe I Can Fly' was also good...she let a few shrills creep in...but her other two were pure magic...

I really would like to know what Liza would say about Katherines rendition of SOTR.

I also agree that the majority of voters are women and teenagers.  They vote for men.  I keep asking them why are they so threatened by a young beautiful women who can sing like an angel?  They always have some lame excuse why they don't like her.  Stupid, but all I can say is there is a past AI contestant that didn't win the crown but is a superstar today.

He didn't need the crown, he has a fan base that loves him.  Katherine will be a superstar with her fan base helping put her there.

Katherine you were amazing tonight.  Here's to a wonderful career you are going to have!!!!

I actually think Kat might have a heck of a lot of Girl fans who vote for her every week.  I heard that there is a "Katbian" Thread on an idol forum.  That is freaking great.

slice....I agree, Kat must have a lot of female supporters...I don't think she could have survived to this point without the support of the women and teenagers....and I also believe that these two groups will determine the ultimate winner of American Idol...and in that regard Kat is within reach of Taylor, and if we can mobilize the entire fanatical Kat Phandom...Kat could be picking confetti out of her hair next week...

Please help me…I lost my Kat…

As we collectively deal with the disappointment of the end of the AI season and Kat not winning, I just want to say…. Kat won…Kat fans won…the public won.

Kat’s exposure has been enormous – viewers in the hundreds of millions this season; ancillary T.V., radio, press coverage – effusive recognition and endorsement of her talent from many truly qualified and unbiased industry giants including Tommy Matolla….Andrea Bocelli…David Foster…Clive Davis…with an army of infatuated and fanatical fans, Kat is assuredly loved by millions around the world…Kat is still young, healthy; beautiful; talented; sweet; and supported by a wonderful family…a lot to be grateful for….many great AI performances to reflect on…with much to look forward to in the future.

American Idol brought Kat to us…and to the world…from a simple, hopeful, and heart rendering audition, Kat has blossomed into a rising star with tremendous marketability in film, TV., Broadway, and music,….and while we will miss her appearances on AI - and suffer ‘Kat withdrawal’ for a while -…I will be reflecting on how lucky we were to have been introduced to her, and I look forward to supporting and following her career going forward….

In the grand scheme of things, this is but a ‘small blip on the radar screen’ for Kat. In spite of the current disappointment, I’m sure that when she walked into the audition, if someone had asked her ‘How would it be if you beat out 10,000 other contestants and finished in the top 2 on AI,…?’ Kat would have said ‘Fantastic…’ and so it is.

As much as I will miss seeing Kat, I will also miss the ‘kindred spirits’ and high-caliber contributors on this site; bcollan, nasaman, groucho, slice, Jaded, winnpoober, noni, Fano, wiraldo, Rhine, Bigshady….just to name a few, and also all the others members that made this incredible Kat journey interesting and fun. And a special thanks to Chad (host) for all his efforts in establishing and maintaining this site and providing us all with a first-class venue to discuss our favorite star. The dedication and class of the many supporters on this site was wonderful to behold and you are all to be congratulated for such a tireless effort in generating support for Kat…I’m sure Kat will have an opportunity in the next few months to comprehend the magnitude of fan support she had behind her during AI, and I know she has developed a very loyal following for her future endeavors.

My fondest memories are of Kat are ‘God Bless the Child’ audition; ‘Come Rain Or Come Shine’, ‘Black Horse’, ‘Elvis’ and ‘Rainbow’…and the yellow dress!

So here’s to our collective victory…Kat is internationally recognized…she’s got the AI tour on the way…a bright future…and we get to watch it all….so, to our graduating ‘winner’…thanks Kat…for stirring our spirits and invigorating our lives…Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue…good luck going forward…be fearless.

Come to think of it…I didn’t lose my Kat….I found my Kat !

This is Idoleyes….out.

How far out?

I hope this site will always be here to keep us up to date on Katharine's doings. There is only one other (non Katharine) fan site I'm affiliated with and I check in regularly to find out what's up on new projects. You have to have the cooperation of your celeb to make that work, but the McPhee's seem to have no problem with that. I hope that continues now that Katharine has become about 40,000 times more visible than she was a year ago.

I hope they realize the importance of keeping the fan base together and interested and feeling like they still have a personal stake in their favorite's career. Places like this are invaluable for that. I used to run a fan club back in the Jurassic Age when nothing was done on-line, and I worked my butt off to keep the lines of communication open with a principal who was not always very supportive of the effort. Finally I gave up because it was too hard to run things from my end with no support. I think about things like that because they've happened to me. When I find a group that has the support of the right people, and knows how to work together, I get very enthused and want to be part of it in any way I can. I'd never want to run the show again, but I love being able to support and contribute.
