All the judges loved it, even Simon.  BTW, she doesn't need lighting to make her look "amazing".  She is always gorgeous.

I thought Katharine gave another great performance.

Let's hope now, that Katharine is "Safe," and then we can move on to the music of Rod Stewart next week.

I agree she gave a great performance...Paris took a chance with The Show Must Go On and she lost, it was not good...Kellie did O.K. with BoRhap..Ace was weak...Elliott was marginal...Bucky was Bucky...Paris or Ace will go home this week...

Katharine looked amazing (again), sang with good tone, maturity and sincerity...she will definetly not be in the bottom 3 this week!

Good show Kat...on to Rod Stewart

Dont take it as granted. She's in the DialIdol's bottom 3 now! You might say ignore the DI crap, but the site was correct last week. And you guys better believe the site's prediction is correct, because it will only motivate you to vote even harder for Katharine! Let's move her to top okay? Thankssssssss!

Dialidol.com now has Katharine above Chris, just out of the bottom 3. But Elliot, Kat and Chris are all statistically possible for the bottom 3. On the bright side, Kat has a strong lead over Bucky and Ace. Paris and Elliot are doing amazingly well in part because of their bottom 3 finish last week.

If I got to guess the bottom 3 for 16 straight weeks, I would be right way more often than once. But like Rhine says, use it as motivation. So west coasters, get on it!

Uuuuuummm... Well, I need to listen to it again because I was really distracted by a crappy video camera I was trying to use on her performance. But I was a little disappointed. Simon said: "This was ALMOST your moment." Ugggggggghhh... But it wasn't! Almost won't keep her out of the bottom three. I don't want to see Katharine's sad face again. Right now I feel like my soul is being dragged into hell while I'm left clutching uselessly at the surface of the earth...

LOL, that sounds really depressing. I didn't like Katharine's make-up either, even though Simon said she looked good.

It did sound a bit like they were damning her with faint praise, but faint praise from Simon tonight was pretty good- he was at his harshest tonight. And he did say her performance was one of the best. I just wish Kat would pick more crowd-pleasing songs, the competition is really heating up, and she needs more than her fan base to stay in it. She needs the votes of all the non-commited people who vote for the best performances- and they respond to big, splashy, popular songs. Kat almost seems to be singing more to the music "connaisseurs" than the average pop "gluttons".

Simon said something that I have replayed over and over - that she had some problems with something.  And Katharine said something about not being able to fix it??  or Simon not being able to fix it???  did anyone catch that?

Then he said she needed to thank the lighting people because she looked amazing.  And Katharine replied something like, "I know I do."  I'm sure she was referring to thanking the lighting people, but to me, because the last thing Simon said was "you look amazing" to me, the first time I watched it, it came out like she was saying "I know I do (look amazing)."  I hope voters did not take it that way and not vote for her for that reason.

On to the performance.  I thought she did a pretty good job with it.  It is a 5 minute song, and like I said on another thread, for the most part the song is boring.  Katharine did a good job in making the song build.  She got to the point of really belting it out without getting to the point of shouting (ala Mandisa and others).  The judges all liked it and basically said it was near perfect.  And of course, she looked great too - I am sure Paula must have mentioned that.

I only saw parts of the other singers so far.  I did see Ace and agree totally with the judges that basically you don't sing We Will Rock You in a pretty voice.  I caught part of Bucky and actually enjoyed what I heard.  I have not heard Kellie yet.  I caught part of Chris, but I was not familiar with that song.  The judges were not real impressed.  I didn't hear Elliott, but the judges were glowing over it.  The biggest surprise to me was Taylor.  I think if he had sang the song as written, it probably would have come across not so good like I had talked about before when discussing Crazy Little Thing Called Love.  He invented his own melody for a good part of it and made it his own.  I'm not sure straying from the actual melody of a song is a good thing, but it worked for him tonight.  I didn't hear Paris yet either for the most part.  I caught the end, which I thought she ended strangely, although Randy said she got it back together at the end.

When I said above that I didn't hear several of them, they were on, but I was cooking and then we were eating, so some I could pay attention to and some not.  I am going to watch the tape in a little while.

I agree with most of what you said and I too did cringe a little when she said "I know I do", of course meaning she knew she owed a lot the lighting guys for helping her with her look but I can bet the Katharine bashers on the other forums will go with that one to help them prove their accusations that she is arrogant and conceited since it was said after the end of Simon's comment saying she looked amazing. She sang the song pretty well although I don't think it was her best week vocally but the biggest problem is the song she chose to sing is somewhat unexciting and not real catchy to the average listener and so it is very limiting what you can do with that song to motivate a large segment of America to go to the phone and vote for you. I also don't understand why Kat's numbers never improve when the west coast vote comes in. Do they not support her that much out there? Per dialidol her numbers have actually slipped slighty to the rest of the field since the west coast has been voting. Taylor and Kellie appear to be running away with the voting this week with Paris and Elliott's supporters doubling their efforts to keep them relatively high after their scare last week.

Katharine was a CLASS ACT tonight. Hers is the only performance I would go back and re-watch. I hope everyone has pulled her through to safety, once again. I'm not surprised that Paris and Elliott had a doubling of fan voting efforts after last week either, just like we all doubled our efforts for Katharine when she was in the bottom 3, but people have got to bring it for her every week! Every week!

Frankly I wish she'd stuck with the original song. From what I saw on the previews, it would have been more eye catching and possibly more exciting to voters who haven't seen her do anything else. Kellie and Paris seemed to be going for a whole different approach this time, so Katharine could have done "cute" and gotten away with it. And I caught that remark about thanking the lighting guys. We know what she meant--I hope the rest of the world does too.

Also, I started voting as soon as Paris was catching her breath, and got through a lot more than I did last time, which was a bit worrisome, all things considered. I mean, I was taking up all the slack i could, but last week I could hardly get through at all after about two minutes. After a few minutes, I started hitting busies, so I waited until the last 15 minutes and started trying again.

I think they get less busy signals on the West Coast because their calling areas have greater capacity. Well, just a guess...

Alright, so I listened to the song again, and it's definitely something I'd like to listen to again and again. Better for me the second time through. Man, I was reeeeeally distracted during the whole show. I want to replay Paris's and Elliot's because I feel like I missed their performances. And when Katharine said "I know I do," I was so distracted that I actually forgot what I initially realized (that she was looking up at someone! and that she didn't say it like she would if it were that simple) and just thought to myself: "Okay, I know she could never be as arrogant as that sounded... I'll wait to see what others heard." But yes, she was very humble... it's depressing that she will get attacked as arrogant when she was being the exact opposite.

I think Katharine was the only one not wearing black, which was nice because we must've all been just expecting to see another one in black. But she really looked like she was from the 80's, and I do NOT like the 80's look.

Did anyone else have a moment when they felt like they were in a theatre with her performance? In any case, it's the only one worth playing over and over for me. Kat always has a voice so much richer than the others, no matter what or how well she sings. I could listen to her voice forever... The rest, their voices sound almost superficial to me. But I guess it's like all my classmates will want to watch some comedy for fun, while I'd much rather just sit and contemplate death.

When Kat said 'I know I do...' she followed it up with '...thank you guys...' glancing offstage (to the lighting guys presumably)....nothing you can do about Kat bashers, they will think what they want to think...just keep supporting Kat.

Kat did a good job overall, and her mom (and Kat) will review the tape and see the things that could be improved upon (notably the high-end finish on the 'Forever's...')...that's where Randy probably felt the song was 'a little big' for her in spots...she's got the range, and mom can work with her on her breathing to handle the high range notes...also the fact that she changed songs reduced her rehearsal time...I can just see them reviewing the tape together- as true professionals do - cringing at a few of the notes, hopefully laughing at it now...but that's what helps build character and will lead to improvement...but it was still a good performance...she will survive...(I just don't believe she will be bottom three this week) she will get better...she will get another chance in Rod Stewart week...maybe it's time to break out a higher-tempo song to draw an even wider fan base in.

Alright, so, I have a few thoughts on the singing tonight.

First off, the lighting for Katharine’s song game me the chills. I also agree that red was a good choice, seeing as everyone else did a black, leather, fleur-de-lys motif. Not digging the total outfit, but most of the time, I wonder what the people who dressed Kat were thinking when she comes on stage. But, since I can’t think of what she can do otherwise, I’m not going to continue… well, she’s still gorgeous. I’m not saying that she wasn’t…

Singing wise, she sounded wonderful. I did catch some straining in places. It seemed like every “forever” came out pitchy. And I’m sure she knew. Maybe the fog machines were wreaking havoc with her vocal chords? Or could it be that those notes were in her zona di passaggio? Or the middle range that can be tough to hit well, even though you can easily sing higher or lower…

I thought her stage presence was fit for a leading Broadway diva. I was moved and was convinced that she owned the stage without moving from her spot, which isn’t easy to do. I hope that enough people feel the same way, but I have a feeling that there’s more pre-teens with unlimited texting plans and twitchy fingers who would have been swayed if she rocked out and moved around.

Voting time is over. Now all I can do is sit and wish her luck…
