OK Goody, I'm a very patient person but I went onto the website and tried to join and 12 username choices later, I have lost it! I don't know what in the world I need to do to get signed up. If it's because I need a unique username I can't imagine with the names I tried that not one of them was available...any advice?
geeez reading some of those posts in that American Idol photo section, made me think i was back in Season 5. naturally, we all know differently about Katharine McPhee while those out their with very little musical taste will never understand. i wasn't going to add a comment there, but i had too, probably will get reported, but oh well it was worth it, i did my duty and defended a very talented artist.
Katharine's performance was worthy of inviting her back for the Idol Gives Back show
well i too caught Simon Scowl, on Oprah yesterday. i find him annoying, always have. i find him too much full of himself, i could be wrong, jmo. and although that was a good jesture he made for the family with the little girl who has cancer, that was heartbreaking to watch that family. my question is, why do celebrities, some, have to do these huge kind things on big shows like Oprah? i mean why can't they just go and do it away from cameras and the media. i really hope they do it to be sincere and not for ego or publicity. he looked sincere enough, i just don't know.
and i really need to go back and look through Season 5, but if i remember correctly, he wasn't that huge of a fan of Chris Daughtry as he had stated. i remember Paula falling all over him, but then she falls all over all the guys. he definitely is a hypocrite and he belongs in the same bed with Clive Davis, they make a great couple.
one last thing, why does Simon think "he is American Idol or that what would that show be without him?" i beg to differ, that show made him what and who he is and it would be interestig where he would be without that show..
Interesting you mention Simon's mention of Chris Daughtry being the best of Season 5 (and if you think that...it's OK. If you have ears you know the guy that won shouldn't have...Chris? Sure! Chris, Elliott or Katharine would have been fine winners).
But Simon said NO to Chris at his audition because he didn't see any star power there. Something about lacking charisma. And what did he say about Kat? That she is everything the competition is all about. Funny how his opinion changes with the winds of album sales.
It's also interesting that he said on Oprah that Foster is one of the best music producers in the world...well that guy thinks Katharine is magnificient so...what do you have to say about that Mr. Cowell?
Yes, Goody, I believe Leona is the reason that there has been no big push by Clive for Whitney's "comeback", "killer album"...(per Clive Davis). And, it is really a big loss for all of us who enjoy Whitney's style of singing. It is so cruel and sad, but it seems that in the music business, it's "here today, gone tomorrow." One can never let down their guard. I hope for Whitney's sake and for all of us, that she can borrow a page from another "diva" who hit a downward slump but has greatlyfully pulled (or should I say clawed) her way back into the music mainstream. Of course, I'm referring to Maria Carey. Whitney has so many years and songs to bring back or re-invent her super talents!
However, that being said, Leona Lewis is the "big voice" package that CD has been waiting for. And yes, to me, it is so obvious and sickening the way he has appeared with her as his "arm candy". She truly deserves better! Her voice is amazing.....such a great range. There is room for her in the music world. I just hope that the "powers that be" don't ruin her. Leona seems to be a lovely lady and I really hope for nothing but the best for her career.
Now, before everyone here thinks that I have "changed horses in the middle of the stream", let me explain. As I have mentioned countless times, Katharine is the first celebrity that I have ever taken the time to become a fan for. That is not going to change. There are so many aspects of Katharine that I just adore and appreciate! That will never change and I will always remain one of her most ardent fans. I don't believe that just because I've taken the time to be an active fan of Katharine's that my choices of favorite vocalists should be limited. And, I think the majority of fans on this site feel the same way. I would also venture to say that Katharine would not expect us to limit our choices in who we enjoy listening to. That's just not our classy girl's take on life!
IMO, Katharine has turned out to be an extremely wise and fortunate young woman to have surrounded herself (at all levels) by the right people. I absolutely am thankful that she isn't anyone's "arm candy"!!
Katharine and Leona are two different very gifted artists. I will always appreciate Katharine more simply because it's my choice. We live in a big, fast moving world and to me, artists such as Katharine and Leona are breaths of fresh air almost forcing us to "slow down and smell the roses" and listen with our hearts.
