The great guys at Katpedia.com have graciously provided their extensive database of Kat media to KMF so we can be your one stop shopping for all things McPhee!
So to start, I've added a Katpedia section to the KMF home page where you can search, find, and play your favorite Kat performances, and maybe find a few you never knew existed. I know I did!
Check it out here!
Katpedia.com is an amazing site. My hat is off to Phee and Ken for a job well done.
A very beneficial merger.
Katharine plus her magnificent performances in just one amazing site. Thank you.
We lost some media recently. fileden will delet your account if you haven't logged in in the last 30 days. stage6 high quality streaming video suddenly closed down without warning.
We are replacing the lost media as we can. Any help here would be appreciated! Anyone can click the "Add" link for each performance and add some media if it is missing.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
if you have a site you would like to post it on, such as blog, you need only grab the embed code.
It's so easy to forget just how special Katharine really is. I find myself getting so used to her material that i don't realize what a big-time talent she is. Going through all the old stuff, after some time away from it, helps me appreciate her ability.
Hmm. I'm having trouble with it. When I select a song, I can't do anything after that. What am I doing wrong?
Oh, and it doesn't even click through to the actual site as I thought it might, alternatively.
You should be able to select a song, hit the search button, then find what you want in the result scroll box. At that point, you can click on one of the icons below the performance title to determine how you want the media played. Each performance should have multiple video and audio choices.
This is the result of some outstanding (and time-consuming) work--so my hat off to Simon and Ken for all the work they put into that. And thanks to Bill for consolidating it into KMF to give a leg up on this being a true "official" site for Kat until her fanclub resumes.
Overall, I think it was wise to re-invent Katpedia into a place for strictly media performances rather than compiling everything Kat's ever done. I know I've said that before, but it's true that most fans (either diehard ones or casual) prefer seeing and hearing her sing over anything else. Well, that might be a tad arguable when you realize her photoshoots already belong in a prestigious museum representative of beautiful people in the 21st century--though other sites have that covered, more or less. Hopefully The Louvre is making room on their walls once Richard's done with his next Kat drawing.
The second most requested would obviously be Kat's interviews--and I think Simon still has most of them archived in there. But seeing and hearing all the different versions of one song ("Mary Jane" for instance) is close to having an early box set with multiple studio takes. Fortunately, Kat is an inventive artist who will give you something different every time you hear a well-worn song. She knows the intracacies of phrasing and how malleable words can be. To me, that's what makes the opportunity to hear all those different takes within one sitting a true treasure trove.
Thanks again for all the media commitment the last couple of years, guys...
It sure is nice to be able to go to just one place to hear any of Katharine's AI performances. In particular, I watched "Who Wants To Live Forever" and "Against All Odds" since they were just performed last week by Kady and Ramielle, respectively.
I can clearly understand what Simon was trying to express regarding the important ingredient of personality in the performance of a song. Especially, if you are competing in AI. It really does take more than just a good or even great voice. You have to be able to connect with your audience and tell a complete story if you want to be successful on that show. Actually, in this day and age of videos, you really need to be able to act. I think Kady was really trying, but her age and probably lack of real training and experience kept her from being able to "reach out and touch" the audience. After listening to Kat's again, and even recognizing that Kat's arrangement was far superior than the one used by Kady, it still comes down to being believable. It's like if you've never truly had your heart broken, how can you really sing about it with intense feeling....Unless, of course, you are a good actor. Kady does have a lovely, pure voice and I hope she is able to get the guidance she needs to go forward with her career.
Ramielle (sp?..sorry), has that "big voice" but it wasn't enough for me to sell the song last Wednesday. In fact, her performance seemed rather lifeless. There just wasn't a whole lot of expression in her face or body language and I actually liked her arrangement as well as the one Kat used. In Kat's, to me the arrangement did rather get away from her....and she knew it, as well. But there just is no comparison in the two performances, for me. Unless the girls have been holding back for the Top 12 positioning, they had all better step it up in the performance category and start selling the songs to us! Kat really has them beat by a mile in that aspect. I know Kat had musical stage performances before Idol. But, all in all, I would think that at this point in the competition, the girls have got to start shining! This may be a "singing competition" but it also is a personality contest and if you can't connect with your audience, I don't think your fan base is going to increase enough to keep you in the running. Kellie Pickler hadn't had a lot of experience on stage and yet, I'm sure with help from Kat, she was able to emote and connect with the audience to carry her as far as she got. And she did have that cute, quirky, country-bumpkin personality, as well! I sure hope this turns out to be an exciting year to watch. I particularly enjoy seeing the "growth" the contestants go through from week to week. The only one I could see that clearly in last year was Jordin and maybe Phil. His last performance of "Shot Down In a Blaze of Glory" was certainly his shining moment and a real joy to watch. Those moments are the real reasons I think most of us wait and watch in anticipation to experience.
Katpedia is the best!!! Kat's Music, Videos, Photos, Interviews, etc. all in one place. We're blessed to have Simon and Ken. I'm really grateful and proud what you guys have done. I've never seen such commitment from any fan. KMF and Katpedia - backing up each other, yes baby.
I've actually received notification from Stage6 a few weeks back, seems like they're having trouble getting sponsors to keep the site up or something like that.
Anyhow, kudos to this great merger! I'm sure I can access more of Katpedia now. Great job guys!
