"I attended a screening of this movie last night at the Mann Theaters in Thousand Oaks, CA. All in all it was a pretty funny movie, but i felt it was filled with too many cliches, and that there were alot of stong storylines that they never really came through on. The soundtrack was really good, and the acting was... alright. If you have any questions feel free to ask."
The project seems to be moving right along, but we still have to wait eight months for it!
The following was in answer to questions asked by other posters.
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS! Yes she (Sarah Wright) was great in the movie, she played the bitchy president of the "upper class" sorority, and she's basically responsible for all the bad things that happen to the zeta girls. The seven nerdy girls were emma stone (president), katharine mcphee, kat dennings, rumer willis, dana goodman, kiely williams, and some short little hispanic chick who i couldn't find her name. emma stone was the nerdy president who has a big crush on the big guy on campus (tyson ritter). katharine mcphee played a pregnant sorority sister who seemed very shy at first, but opens up. kat dennings played this goth femminist who is very hesitant to shelly. rumer willis played a girl who wears this huge back brace to hide herself, theres a funny parody of forest gump when she runs after a guy she has a crush on. dana goodman played the beastly sorority girl who is very large and akward, she is basically there for laughs. kiely williams isn't even in the movie most of the time, her character is very shy and she hides in the hall closet speaks through text messages, untill the end. and the little hispanic chick didn't add anything to the movie, she was just there and barley said anything throughout the whole movie. yes anna faris is the lead, she plays shelley who gets kick out of the playboy mansion and goes looking for a new job and place to stay, and ends up at the zeta sorority. they actually become hot and sexy sorority girls pretty early in the movie, but in the end realize that they aren't being true the themselves. i actually never saw sydney white, but i would compare it to accepted and sorority boys. colin hanks played oliver, anna faris met him while he was putting up a sign as she was washing cars. i felt their love story was forced, and it didn't really build good chemistry between them. emma stone has the most screentime, and the rest of them had about the same amount of screen time, except for kiely williams and the hispanic chick, who seemed to be in it less. thats a good question, anna faris was definatly the funniest person in this movie, and she provided most of the jokes with her extremly dumb blonde attitude. not every sorority girl has their own love interest, a couple of them try to seek a relationship, but it is never revisited. emma stone does find a love interest though. sarah wright playes the villian, see the top of this post for more. there are 2 main sororitys, zeta and phi mu. zeta are the nerdy girls, and phi mu are the perfect bitchy girls. the ending is predictable, but sweet. she helped them build their self confidence, and realize who they really are. im really bad with remembering names, but i know emma stone plays natalie, kat dennings plays mona, and right now thats all i can remember... ill update if i remember more. one of the funniest parts of this whole movie is anna faris remembering their names. well if im picking up on what you're saying i think its a good chick flick, but it comes off as a bad one to start off. one the flyer it said it is not rated yet but is expected to be pg-13, which i can see. there are a couple f-bombs and brief nudity, but nothing to push it to an R. as i said before i think the funniest scene is where anna faris is getting introduced to all the girls, and whenever they say their name she repeats it in a low manly voice, and she says its her way to remember names. its funny because it comes out of nowhere... and it comes up again a couple times later in the film. i think the hottest girls were sarah wright and rachel specter... even though they were the bitchy girls. and anna faris of course.
I forget if you posted this part but...Kat's having a baby! Or I guess I should say Harmony is having the baby! And she sings in the karoake bar! Anyway...amazed that we're getting reports from screenings nine months before the movie comes out.
The hottest girls line at the end. I don't know who Sarah Wright & Rachel Specter are (I guess I could look them up....let's do that!).
OK, just did a thorough review of pictures of those two and they get a thumbs up from me. Now, the Anna Faris inclusion on the list...maybe I'm just weird but I don't get the "Anna Faris is so hot!" thing. Well, Katharine said it in that one clip but...I don't know. I don't see that one.
Thanks, Groucho, for providing that. You can be sure, though, that this was a very test screening--and a lot of the plot points (if even characters) may be tweaked or end up on the cutting room floor. I'm even amazed that they did a test-screening this soon when you consider they wrapped not too long ago. Then again, the trend may be now to gauge audience opinion before bothering with post-production. It saves more time and money not having to go into the editing room (or call up reshoots) later. With a massive across-the-board Hollywood strike possibly coming up in June of '08--I can see the strategy there.
Well, that's too bad that Kat didn't get more of a mention there--though it's sometimes better to have a character that doesn't try to steal away from the bigger stars. That kind of thing can backfire and has with other growing actors. It's best to have a character find its appeal with the audience. In that scenario, Kat will be noticed by critics.
Yes, there are a lot of attractive faces in this movie to say the least--so it seems perfect for the Dog Days of Summer (meaning August). To be honest, though, I despise a lot of stuff written on IMDb.com (even though their bio pages are a good reference resource) and wouldn't even begin to think this write-up will give us a full picture of what we'll see. Of course, with just the slightest tweaks and edits--Kat may end up having more scenes than we think. In that regard, "McPhee Steals Away Anna Faris Chick Flick" isn't all that bad of a review headline next summer in all the major newspapers.
