No, not this time. I think it was When You Wish Upon A Star, Beauty And The Beast, A DReam Is A Wish Your Heart Makes... oh crud, I can't remember them all. There are a couple of threads at IDF with all this stuff--videos, pictures, fan review--I know some of it has made its way over here. Oh yeah, A Whole New World. i was looking at what disney has in production, unfortunately there was nothing that stood out that looked like something kat might be the right fit for. but i always thought she'd be perfect to do an animated film, or even better, do a non-animated version of one of the disney classics.
makes me think of the 2 year old who asked her mom, "mommy is that cinderalla" as kat was singing SOTR. actually, it was really amazing how young infants and toddlers and even animals reacted to kat on American Idol. she was magic on that show.

My family has an old audio tape of myself from when I was about five years old singing "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" in the bathtub. I wouldn't do that now if paid to (well, maybe for pay)--but classic Disney music is a huge part of my formative years. I knew all the songs from the classic films by the time I was four--and it kept up with the Disney renaissance in the 90's. So that's why Kat having an association with Disney and their classic song catalog is of true interest for me. Wouldn't you know Kat has to sound absolutely amazing on them when you realize she may not sing them again for a long time if ever. Then again, Disney usually likes to draw up contracts with artists who fit their criteria and leave a positive impression on the suits.
Well, to backtrack here: I still forward that version of "Santa Baby" that we've waited for Kat to sing for ages. As some of you know, I constantly brought up the legend behind that song last year around the holidays and the story of her and her sister, Adriana, supposedly doing a racy version of it at their high school Christmas show. Because it was a Catholic high school--the staff reportedly banned the use of the song forever. I also suspect the tape of the performance is buried somewhere on the grounds. So far, nobody's gone there with a metal detector and a shovel to search for it.
At least we'll get a chance to hear Kat sing real holiday music at the "Christmas in Washington" event in a couple of weeks...unless it's just "The Prayer" (known as the perfect holiday song that's not really a holiday song). But Disney songs have that ethereal quality that makes them perfect for the holidays...and especially on the Disney parade. I've never watched the Disney parade on Christmas Day (not even taping it)--though I will this time. On the other hand, the presumed HD downloads here will be more convenient to store on my computer. I can't wait to hear her performance in HD when her voice was already stunning on the fuzzy rehearsal footage taken by someone in the fanbase who managed to get a VIP spot.
And, yeah, as I inferred above--Disney will likely hire Kat for something eventually. She fits the bill for what Disney looks for in both appearance and the way she conducts herself. It's probably already a major task for Disney finding potential future stars with some sense of values, so I know they'll ask her to do something--albeit probably something brief rather than a long-term contract. Just seeing Kat singing in Disneyland is a major piece of Disney folklore now. I'm just glad Kat's out front singing and not one of the dressed up princesses spinning around in the back as she could have been had she not gone to that 'AI' audition.
wow I've been grounded for a LONG time! Granted, I'm still technically grounded but hey! I'm excited for this!
