Lisa Leuschner first appeared on Season 2. The judges loved her audition, but they basically said she was too heavy and needed to lose weight. They told her to come back for Season 3. She did, lost a little bit of weight, and made it to the top 32. She finished third in her group, although the judges said she was the best. She was invited back to the wildcard show and was one of the favorites to get one of the extra spots in the Top 12. However, when she went up to the mic to sing, Randy told her that she was "potentially the best singer in the competition," but they chose not to let her even sing. This caused a huge stir on the idol forums, etc. Some people believe she's the reason they dropped the Top 32 and went to the Top 24 format instead. People Magazine once called her the most underated Idol contestant ever.
Based on how well she's been received on Idol Waves, I'd say they're accurate.
I think Lisa Leuschner and Colbie Caillat are very similar.
