Kat will be making another parade appearance on the Sunday before Thanksgiving(Nov 18)in the annual Mother Goose Parade.The really good news:it will be televised....and hopefully will feature a Kat perfomance.The parade will be held in El Cajon California(San Diego County. Info at http://www.mothergooseparade.org/ Anyone else thinking of some funny Mother Goose lines??

Soon we'll learn that Nena has her own manager,fansite and is doing Alpo endorsements.If Kat is going to be on a float,she might be concerned that Nena would get spooked by all the noise and activity.I'd guess it would depend on just how mellow Nena is...and the Chihuahuas I've known are anything but mellow.There's a scar on my right hand, from Chico's bite, to prove that!!

I want to see Kat dressed as one of the famous female characters in Mother Goose. Preferably, she'd fit in just fine as Little Bo Beep or Little Miss Muffet. The only problem with those, though, is an attempted upstaging from the nearby animated sheep (or the Miss Muffet spider) that might rival the attempted spotlight coup by those frogs on the Pasadena Rose Parade last year. And it'd be even worse if you had actors dressed as sheep or the spider. But how many little-known actors would give up a week's pay to dress up as a giant spider, hang over the head of Kat dressed as Miss Muffet, and ham it up to the hilt?

Anyway--thanks, Thel, for the info on that about this parade that I know little about. As you all know, I've long wished Kat would appear on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...and we were disappointed in that not happening last year. Nevertheless, since this parade is the Sunday before Thanksgiving--she technically still could be on the Macy's one. I have the bad feeling, though, she won't be on the Macy's again this year either. Maybe she will once she becomes a bona fide movie/music star. That might take a year or two. And then we can look forward to a giant Katharine balloon flying over Manhattan (preferably still in that yellow dress).

After seeing this thread--I had to go do a Google search on the history of the Mother Goose Parade. It's actually right up there with Macy's in attendance levels (it usually gets close to half a million people attending if you can believe it)--despite not remembering it being televised here in my state. If it's ever been broadcast nationally, it must have been in syndication.

Finding one website detailing the MGP's fascinating history--it's interesting that JFK's assassination occurred on the very day of this parade in 1963. Because of that tragic news, they canceled it just as it was underway and moved it to December 1 that year.

So, yes, I wonder if Kat will dress up in character--considering I also read a lot of the celebrity float riders do that. Maybe they'll hold auditions for Little Bo Peep sheep to ride with her on the float. Those of you Kat Packers in Cali start practicing your baa's...

Kat will be a "Walk of Fame Celebrity" at this event, and Erik Estrada will be the Honorary Grand Marshal, LOL. Besides Mario Lopez, I don't recognize any of the other celebrities.

The Mother Goose Parade Association is on the move to discover two musically talented San Diego's Mega Stars.

The San Diego Mega Star competition was created to discover and promote San Diego county's singing talent.

Upon parade time, they will perform in the opening show with Katharine McPhee and Jesse McCartney. Then they will be taken to their own customized float and perform in front of the grand stands and along parade row, singing LIVE to the songs of their choice with amplified wireless microphone.

Also, John Schneider and Robert Wagner have been added to the celebrity list. It's like an '80s reunion...

So pessimistic. The other 2 people listed with Kat are also recording stars, and the 2 singing competition winners are supposed to be performing with them. I don't think they're supposed to just stand there and look pretty for half an hour, like the other celebs.

Good lord, is MySpace becoming the new "American Idol" now? Two artists on this parade made their names through MySpace pages and promoting their songs there. Look out Simon Cowell's wallet...

Hopefully someone down in Cali will capture this on DVD tomorrow. It certainly isn't Macy's--but this one still has a rich history as I wrote about in my previous post on the subject above. It's also a place where the generation gap in Hollywood actually closes in. Where else will you see Robert Wagner and Mario Lopez walking on the same ground together? I guess the Macy's does it that way, too, though usually in a way that makes more cohesive sense.

Well, Kat can look back and see all the roster of legendary stars who used to appear on this from past decades and feel it's a worthy event. Maybe she's grown up seeing this parade on local TV if it was broadcast in Sherman Oaks the last twenty years.

I frankly like that Mother Goose theme for whatever reason. I've long been fascinated with Mother Goose tales anyway--and it was obviously asking too much to have Kat dress up like one of the characters. It's probably a good thing she's on the pre-show, too, since riding those floats means carpal tunnel syndrome from all that --plus no bathroom breaks available.

As I've said, hopefully we'll see Kat take part in NYC holiday festivities next year. Her persona is so NYC that it still seems odd to me to see her do holiday events in the L.A. area.
