Hey guys!! Sorry it's been awhile! You won't believe what I got in the mail!! I got an autographed picture of Katharine signed by Katharine herself!! I did send her a letter, a picture of myself and a copy of my new book. I wonder if she got it!! My sister is so jealous. lol. I was so excited!!! All Kat needs to do is inconspicuously hold up any book while attending something like...say, a Hillary Clinton fundraiser...and hello New York Times bestseller list! That's great, Kelly, that you received an autographed picture from Kat. And sending that children's book of yours to her was a great idea. She probably refrains from promoting other people's work, but you never know if she happened to like it well enough. The best thing to do is to write other children's writers who write in the same vein as you--ask them to read your book, and (if they like it) will offer to give a publicity blurb to you. That's a little secret I've learned about in the writing business when trying to market a book. Having a little blurb from someone famous always helps in the press releases. Kat writing a blurb might not be related enough because she's not an author. But, as I say--you never know what might work in the context of marketing. You know, if Oprah can have a book club, then Kat could too. And all it has to be is subtle. Someone catches on film Kat reading your book while waiting to go on stage to perform somewhere...and there you have it. It might be called the Inconspicuous Katharine Book Club...though we authors will take anything we can get. If it's anything like Oprah's club, though, that means we children's authors having to provide credentials that our stories are actually true and not all fantasy...
