As the world shows love to this year’s second place finisher on American Idol, Blake Lewis, the runner-up from last season is feeling awfully lonely.
We don’t know why. Katharine McPhee is quite gorgeous and talented.
While scores of American Idol alums turned out to partake in this year’s season finale, McPhee was as absent from the festivities as Britney Spears is from any semblance of normally.
Although fellow Season 5 competitors Elliot Yamin, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Hicks and Chris Daughtry all returned for guest spots this season, McPhee was missing from the rundown – and it was not by choice.
“Katharine called them herself, trying to get on the [finale],” a source close to the singer tells Us Magazine. “She’s really hurt.”
Not as hurt as Aubrey O’Day probably is that we compared her to an Oompa Loompa. But still.
Of course, Kat wasn’t the only former Idol who got dissed. When Sony/BMG president Clive Davis addressed the TV audience, he made sure to plug Hicks’ new single, but failed to mention Kelly Clarkson’s latest single or her forthcoming CD, My December, over which the two have reportedly butted heads.
McPhee’s rep could not be reached and Fox had no comment.
this is very upsetting, still doesn't give a reason why she wasn't asked back, unless i missed it somewhere. the way to get back at this AI snub and Clive Davis snub, is to make Kat number one by supporting her every damn inch of her career. we as her fans who voted our butts off for her, need to help make her songs number one and of course the way to do this is buy her cds, call and request like all heck, also attend any concerts she may be appearing in.
i was pretty calm up until now, for AI to not ask her back is an insult to Kat and her fans. i for one am done with that show and possibly any products that sponsor them. I AM FURIOUS!!!!!!!
What AI did is rude and upsetting, and I know there are fans expressing their anger and frustration to AI. So, I suggest everyone gets their rage and anger out of your system for the "AI Snub" and do what your heart tells you to. But, now it's time for the KatPack Attack! and time to "FIGHT, THE GOOD FIGHT" by requesting, requesting, requesting.

I suggest reading this thread about the Well Done Awards, this is all Kat really needs (read Orange County Register article, Amanda just posted). Forget about AI, Kat getting this award for "Giving Back" means so much more in the grand scheme of things. Let's not even worry about AI anymore, and just focus on the future and all that God has planned for Kat.
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE COBABY!!! As a matter of fact there is a thread here talking about sending a bunch of Kit Kat's to AI as a protest but I don't think I want to waste a single penny on sending them such good candy that they will probably just laugh about and eat all up like the S they are!!!
If we send them anything let's make it something that will give them a pain in the A$$ Something they would have no use for that would make their jobs harder like Kit Kat wrappers or.....whatever...I'm just so mad about this!

Yup. It wasn't cool for Kat not to be on, but the quicker kids like Kat realize that there is nothing fair about the entertainment biz, the better off they will be.
She is much better than that crappy old show anyway. You know if Kelly Clarkson is butting heads with some of these people, and she is their golden cow, that is a very telling thing. The more Kat distants herself from everything about that show the better off she will be.
We, and the rest of her fans know she is the greatest, so there is just reward in that alone.
I think the telling thing is where fans think they know better than Clive Davis how to make a successful career for a recording artist. In my opinion, Kelly Clarkson's first single off her new albums stinks, If Clive Davis has been sitting on an album for six months that could (and he knows will end up selling millions for him) he is doing it for a reason. For all I know, he is using the press right now with this controversy to generate free publicity for Kelly's album, and sympathy points, and ultimately sales, for Kelly...standing up to big bad Clive, that is pure bull.
Kat got a mention in Clive's little talk and even some of her fans feel her album is underperfoming. I don't happen to be one of them. Kat didn't choose Love Story for a single Clive's people did ( and surely Kat didn't choose Over It or any other single to come because that isn't her job.)
No former runner up, save Clay during AI5, has ever appeared in at Idol finale show. And Clay Aiken was there essentially to poke fun at his former appearance and sing a cover song. Anyone who feels Kat was in any way shown disrespect by not being on Idol's finale this year needs to look at the history and realize their expectation of that was not a realistic one.
