You guys!!!  I am so excited to see this appearance!!  The video I did for the troops and families set to the song Ordinary World, was inspired in part by reading the book "Kingdom Assignment"!  I soooo wish I could be there!!!

 

I found out about this book when I was reading about who told Kat about the battered women's shelter at Christmas that she and Nick visited and brought gifts to. I read that she found out about the shelter through her pastor's wife who co-wrote Kingdom Assignment!  I bought the book and have read it,  some of the stories brought tears to my eyes and was an inspiration to me when I made the video thinking "what can only one person do?"  Since then I have found out just how much one person can make an impact in the world.  WOW!! I would love to be there for this...oh well...jobless mom of three teenage boys who eat me out of house and home...can't afford a trip like this!  

 Oh someone, please go and let me know about it!!!

The “WELL DONE™ AWARDS” will honor ordinary people who have done extraordinary things by opening their minds, hearts and souls to challenges within their own communities, positively changing the lives of others. 


   

In November 2000, inspired by the message in the Bible’s “Parable of the Talents,” Pastor Denny and Leesa Bellesi handed out $100 bills to 100 members of their congregation.Church members took the money and a challenge to multiply the dollars – via their own talent – to assist the less fortunate. This lesson ignited a movement that has inspired phenomenal giving around the globe.

           

Hundreds of churches, organizations and individuals have experienced a twist in their mindset…to think big and wide with this idea of being good stewards of everything in their lives. 

           

The Bellesi’s have traveled the world encouraging others to participate in the Kingdom Assignment. The three books they’ve written detail three assignments that were given to their congregation.  The first telling the stories of how the original $10,000 given to 100 members of their Aliso Viejo, California church grew to millions of dollars of charitable assistance. From a shelter for abused women and children, medical care for patients fighting life-threatening illnesses and a myriad of help projects. The Kingdom Assignment has inspired thousands to be good stewards of their own talents, treasurers and time.

           

The event on Wed., May 30, 2007 is a first in what will become an annual event/fundraiser benefiting the Kingdom Assignment Foundation, a non-profit organization assisting people in need all over the world.

It's interesting to see that American Idol Chris Sligh will also be appearing. And I also hope that someone will be able to attend this benefit and tell us about their experience ....

That's funny!  They used her original Idol picture!  How many pictures does she have?  Millions?  And they chose that one?  Still it's cool she's been invited to do this.

Groucho, I would think Kat will be giving a speech and not singing, so no big album cover.  It actually should be a really good story to hear, take notes Tiffany and have a great time!

haha yah I'm not expecting a whole lot. I hope Katharine will sing something, maybe "Ordinary World," I think that would be appropriate. Either way I get to see Kat! I will for sure be taking notes

I was replying to the post about the innocent picture, which stands in direct contrast to the album cover. And I don't think she'd pick OW to sing because she's said it's her least favorite song on the album and she's probably calling the shots on this one.

"American idol's Katharine McPhee" is featured at the Well Done Awards as a Guest Artist like Chris Sligh, from AI 6.  So, I'm thinking Kat might sing something appropriate for the occasion like "OW" or even, "SOTR"!!!

Well, 'Love Story' is obviously very secular--but anything about love (that doesn't use other descriptive terms) I'd think would be acceptable to sing at a church event like this. But I agree that 'SOTR' has almost become a spiritual type of song lately. We may end up hearing Kat sing that just one more time before she rips up the sheet music. Though I'd love to see Kat sing 'OW' live for once to see the reaction in the audience. She'd probably bring the house down and make people feel even more inspired.

This sounds like a great lineup. That story behind Chris Gardner alone is inspiring enough--let alone having Kat and BeBe Winans (one of her favorite artists) in the same room together. Lots of interesting connections here what with Winans...and then Chris Sligh being on 'AI.' I'd wager a guess that Kat will sing a group number with him and BeBe after doing a solo number.

I think this is the first openly public church event Kat's done so far. We've heard people say that she belongs to some kind of church in her local area--but it's never been said what it is. Not that it matters--and the church should be kept private so she can go there in peace when she wants to. Imagine the paparazzi chasing her into church and hiding in the pews to get photos of her. That'd be a first for the rags: Showing a celeb actually behaving themselves and trying to find something meaningful in their life. Just as long as Kat's nose doesn't get itchy again...

For those attending this: I'd imagine the church wouldn't mind people recording it. Churches aren't going to get corporate on people and sic a security goon on you if you're holding a video camera. These type of events should be shared anyway for those who need inspiration in their life. Kat's one of the most inspiring celebs of our time...so they should be happy to get her for this.

P.S.--All of those early 'AI' promotional photos frequently show everybody looking like cherubs.
