Well, she did make that brief appearance earlier where she talked to all the contestants and did her Simon imitation, etc. Maybe that's what they figure they owe her. But why would she just come back for a miscellaneous visit? Is that usual? We were all buzzing about what she was probably talking to the producers about while she was there, etc. Has this happened before? Have other idols just randomly dropped in like that? I don't know, I wasn't there before Season 5.

I don't know, I wasn't there before Season 5. I saw that interview in the context of the entire show and it wasn't a very substantial interview... Pretty much fluff; and it was on American Idol Extra, that isn't carried by many cable outlets. I really can't imagine they would count that insignificant piece as an "official" appearance, when Kelly (Pickler) and Elliott appeared on the regular show. I'm kind of in the same boat as you as I don't know what protocol has been in years past. I got hooked the first season when Kelly Clarkson was on, but then really didn't watch again until season 5.

Hearing it on a FOX newscast does sound a bit more official than "somebody who once knew someone, heard it from another person" that Katharine is going to be on the show.

I'd really love it if she was on the finale, and this sure has got everybody buzzing etc., so I suppose it's great PR, but something in me is going to be so pi$$ed because I'm going to feel like I've been had. BTW, GB, did I ever ask you what part of northern Indiana you were from? My folks lived in Anderson. I grew up in that area, went to school in Muncie and Bloomington.

I live WAAAAAY north in Indiana now....right between South Bend and Elkhart; about 2 miles south of the Indiana/Michigan border.... Really cold country. I'm thinking about relocating back to Evansville, IN where I was a DJ/Sound technician in the late 80's and early 90's. I loved it there. Fairly moderate winters, being right there on the Ohio River.... I know... too much information!!!! Back to Kat... I don't know why they wouldn't want to have her back really. I can only see benefits for AI. It would only help to boost ratings.... but why wouldn't they announce it to get the full impact???

Well I don't think a FOX station would say that without good authority from on high. So hopefully this is true. I'm torn whether or not I think it's a great idea to do something with Blake on Open Toes. I'd rather see her sing Love Story. And she could even do Love Story with Blake. That might make more sense really. Think about this verse in relation to Blake... I always made up some excuse Sayin' that you weren't my type Didn't wanna face the truth Didn't wanna cross that line 'Til one day I saw you Out the corner of my eye You were flirting with some girl And inside I thought I would die They could have fun with that. But if it is Open Toes...I do remember the weird reports from Minneapolis last year. SHE'S REHEARSING THINK! SHE'S REHEARSING THINK! And then she started doing it a few days later in San Diego. So sometimes this stuff is true! Open Toes could be....well it could be great or it could be a disaster. I think it would almost be a better idea the let Kat sing Love Story and then have her bring Blake on stage to do Open Toes with her. Or maybe Blake/Kat Open Toes first...into Love Story. I don't know. But of course she's out of town...duh. But a Blake fan wouldn't know that she was in New York & Boston this weekend I guess. We'll probably know for sure tomorrow! If she's doing media appearances for the show that'll pretty much confirm it!

I'll have to catch my local Fox 10 o'clock news tomorrow night to see if they say anything about this. Of course, if there's an official announcement of Kat being there--all we need to do is check our major headlines. But, I think we're dealing with a rumor that's out of control here, unfortunately. One thing I've learned about big deal celebrity rumors the last few years: They ALWAYS start on the net by some misinformation expert (as I like to call them)--somehow get mixed into mainstream news bureaus...then trickle out through other outlets such as TV. It's amazed me the last few years how a net rumor ends up on legit news. Just look at what happened to Kat last year when she was out sick during the tour. Dozens of rumors were invented by somebody--and it even shaped opinion of guests on cable news shows after a while. Well, I should put "cable news shows" in quotes...because it was MSNBC, which can't be taken seriously much anymore. Nevertheless, lots of mainstream entertainment shows started running with all that lying crapola that was finally put to a stop by Kat writing us that personal letter here. Really, I can't imagine 'AI' leaking information like that so a Fox affiliate would report it. I may be wrong, but I think that Fox station was just reporting rumors they got through whatever source. 19E isn't going to share anything with anybody in fears of spoilers getting out. They used to nearly give the electric chair to members on the 'AI' board who dared post ANY spoilers prior to showtime--especially on finale night. It could be this rumor may have started on one of those sites where people can write fake satirical articles supposedly coming from the AP, etc. Those sites are real popular now and probably explains rumors like this going mainstream more often. They're written with such a straight face, too, that people take them seriously. Having Blake beatboxing to 'Open Toes' is classic dry satire if you ask me. It'd still be a cool thing to see I guess. That's not to say that person on IDF didn't maybe hear him singing along with 'OT' somewhere. I wrote Peisha the other night to maybe get some further info on whether Kat will be there--but haven't heard back yet. We probably won't know anything until the 11th hour on Wednesday night...so just relax. Overall, the fact that the person reporting this on IDF hasn't been around before makes me think it's another one of those misinformation experts out to create chaos and confusion. Believe it or not, there's people on the net out to do this just for the sake of having fun. There isn't any money in it as far as I know...unless there's a godfather of misinformation out there somewhere...

^^ Greg, just to clarify. The "Blake-Kat" rumor on IDF supposedly came from someone who had a friend that was a sub-contractor for AI, it wasn't from Fox. Considering the timing of the post, which was at 12-1 a.m. PDT, it could be they called their source after a Saturday night rehearsal. Also, they did say that Blake was rehearsing with a track of "Open Toes," since Kat was on her radio tours. I'm sure it's just a rumor, but ya never know. Also, after all the uproar on both KMF and IDF, and calls Fox received from Kat fans on Friday; I doubt Peisha will respond to any e-mails. She probably got a small hand-slap for even opening her mouth, and is on a gag-order to keep quiet. LOL, I could hear Kat, "Mooootttthhhhherrrr! what did you do?!" So, I'm sure Peisha's been told to keep mum. I bet the folks at Fox aren't too happy that she responding to fans e-mails, but what can you do. Peisha's so nice, and was feeling empathy for all of us, as well as, her own daughter. Well, now with the Fox Minneapolis reports, it's looking better and better that Kat will be making an appearance on Tues or Wed., thank the good Lord!

^I sense something IS up, Co--and we could be in for a surprise Kat appearance of some sort. If they choose to announce it in advance (and why wouldn't they?)--then we'll likely know by this time tomorrow night. For your sake--I hope that Kat/Blake duet happens. After all, they teamed Kat up (some still say unusually) with Meatloaf last year. They seem to enjoy giving her those type of experiments. Duetting with Blake would be another one of those--that ultimately works out brilliantly. I don't think Fox has any control over Peisha now as they did last year. Nevertheless, she was either covering up a surprise this time or the family truly is upset 'AI' didn't come calling. Or, as I said before, Peisha just didn't know Kat's management was/is working on it. It could be all 11th hour deliberations too. Oh, and my reference to Fox at the top was to the notion that a lot of Fox affiliates may be talking about this rumor. As I said, I'll catch my Portland Fox affiliate 10 o' clock news tomorrow night and see what they may say. I'm just wondering in what context Katatonic Fan (Dean) heard that on his Minneapolis station? Were they speculating or outrightly announcing the lineup for the finale?

They haven't really announced any of the guests for the finale (weird season). It's a given that Tay Tay will perform because he is the reigning idol, but other than the obvious, they have confirmed nobody as yet.

I would think that if previous idol finalists and runner ups were going to perform that a Major press release would be out to capture the RATINGS war especially with all the negative press about American Idol nowadays.All I know is by not having Katharine appear will come back to haunt idol in the future.

If this were a perfect world, American Idol would have Andre Bocelli and Katharine McPhee singing "Can't Help Falling in Love", then Kat singing Love Story, followed by all the idol contestants of AI6 joining Katharine in a rendition of "OPEN TOES"". NOW THAT WOULD MAKE A GREAT SHOW!!

I can assure you through personal connections with Kat's team that she is not appearing on the Ai finale. I wish, like you, this were true, but it's not. Better not to have false rumors floating around.
