I found this over at IDF, OMG, I would die, if this were true.


Hi, Kat fans. I’m a Blake fan with news about the finale next week. A reliable source tells me me he overheard Blake singing with your girl’s song, Open Toes. It was blasting, sounding really cool, with Blake beatboxing at the end. Blake had to sing along with a track because Kat was out of town or something, but they’re supposed to rehearse it live together on Monday.

There are tons of rumors going around about the final show. Now even there are rumors that Britney Spears will be there? DUH? Could that be Randay Jackson's BIG SURPRISE?

Big deal ! ????  Last year, they had Prince on right at the last possible moment, to almost spoil the AI5 finale announcement.... I hope they don't do a similar thing this year. 

For me, all these "star performers" are just window dressing.  Show me the idol stars, past and present; and of course, especially Katharine.

Hahaha... Blake singing "Open Toes"... HAHAHA... as if a 'cool' dude would sit and sing about his open toed shoes. This has to be a rumor.. but fun nonetheless. ;)

I’m out of lurker mode to share some news. A tech friend of mine told me that Fox is kind of laughing about all the crazy calls they got from Katherine McPhee fans this week because she’s supposedly not goingto be on the show next week. The funny thing is, she will be — and she’s singing a duet with Blake. The producers wanted to put last year’s runner-up with Blake, who they think stands good chance of being this year’s first runner-up. Blake and Katherine do this sort of this medley thing where Blake starts out singing part of one of his new songs (one of his own compositions, I think), then they segue into a song from Kathrine’s album (?). He says the song has a killer beat but kind of weird lyrics, and at the end, Katherine and Blake go AT it, with Blake laying down some serious beatboxing riffs.

they could've at least made it a believable rumor lol she wouldnt sing open toes. her next single is love story and plus she would never sing a goofy song like open toes on idol.

Well how about if they have her sing LoveStory (as a solo)  too???
Open Toes actually makes alot of sense if it's part of a duet medley with Blake.

Until we hear something directly from Kat, her team , or AI itself all of this is still just rumor.

Hope it's true though!

 

But I still find it interesting that there is no solid yes OR no. The fact we have heard nothing concrete either way makes me wonder, alot!

I really hope this is true, but I kinda doubt it. It would be so cool tho if Kat and Blake did and duet, and Open Toes would kind of be a possiblity because of Blake's beat-boxing fitting with the song. I really hope it's true! But who knows!

Put 'em, put 'em on lets go! Put 'em on, put 'em on lets go!    I could hear Blake doing some wicked beatboxing to that part at the end of the song.  Maybe Kat's doing a brief medley of LS and OT, and Blake joins in at the end with his beatboxing - that would be so effing brilliant, the crowd would LOVE it.

Oh, please be true, please be true!  If this rumor isn't, they should have Blake beatbox and do a remix - now THAT would be a hot single and club mix, and get Kat's name out there - it would be friggin' HOT!!

I smell something.  The troll, whoops "Blake fan"  who posted this at IDF has six total posts. 

I wouldn't mind Kat being on the Finale, but I could hardly think of a worse scenario than "singing" with Blake (who would rather make sounds like a small appliance in distress than sing)  and Open Toes would he a horrendous choice of song for two reasons.

1. The "young and hip" who go to the radio concerts don't even get that song (yet) and stand in stunned silence when it is played.

2. Live performances of Open Toes leave much to be desired vis a vis what it sounds like on the album. It would be a bad introduction go a very good song.

If she is on (and I don't think she will be) she should sing her new single  Love Story.  Anything in addition to that is gravy...except Open Toes with Blake, which would be lumpy gravy.

Oh! ... This is exactly what came to my mind the other day when I was listening to Open Toes. I thought it'd be awesome Kat singing this song while Blake beat-boxing in the background. This would rock the house down!!!

I hope these rumors are true, I'm keeping my  fingers crossed...

It would be great to see Katharine on AI again, but she doesn't need the show anymore.

The CD did not result in spectacular sales, though there is very good potential for top 30 songs separately, as with Over It, making it to 29. The hair deal was renewed, she has her radio tour and is
in demand for appearances. Then there is the possible acting career or muscial career again which is in her future, or films with Steven Spielberg after the music career. Many artists try to separate themselves from AI, as does Chris Daughtry now even though he will back to do the farewell song played every week when someone leaves. The past AI winners except Kelly Clarkson are really not
highly successful in pop top 40 (Carrie Underwood of course is country) Reuben and Taylor have almost no career now.

Other questions of ethics arise with AI as well, such as not wanting people to win such as Katharine,
Clay and Bo Bice, the way the original contestants are selected, and some of the judging practices.

It is better in the long run if she is not on the show, though it might help the next single and only if she performs the single. She is exceptional enough that she does not have to rely on the appearance and as we all know is a bonifide star and performer. We also all knew that she is one of the most presentable and talented in entertainment today. AI does not always produce such individuals.

Didn't we hear a lot of stuff like this last summer, like "I know someone who's friends with a guy who runs a concession stand at the xxyz Arena and he overheard the stage manager tell somebody that katharine would definitely be back on the tour," etc. Rumors beget rumors which beget rumors. But it might be fun to pair up Taylor/Jordin and kat/Blake. The first two could sing a nice ballad together (anything good on Taylor's album? i don't know diddley about it) and then K. could unleash her inner bad girl with Blake and they could burn the place up. Not holding my breath, but it could be kinda fun...

I'm all for her to appear, but if she does, I hope AI shows her in a good light.  Some of the performances and set-ups were not the greatest last year.  Particularly bad was Dionne Warwicke's performance which was hopelessly off-key.  I've seen her live in the past and since this performance and she is usually fantastic.  I suspect a bad monitor feed or similar causing this less than stellar performance.  There were others that were equally poor, and not necessarily due to the performers involved.

If Kat does appear and AI doesn't screw things up, I think it could and would be a big boost to her already very successful post-idol career.

But... If it doesn't work out, for a variety of reasons, it wouldn't be a devastating blow.  If she doesn't appear, I'm wondering why the AI people didn't put her on earlier on in the season?....At least it wouldn't look like a snub if she doesn't appear in the finale.
