Anyone have some loose ideas for a LS music video?

I've got this image in my head....and I've seen this done before but....I just see a young girl excitedly running into her room with a book tucked under her arm.  She sets the book on her bed.  We see that it's called Love Story written by Katharine McPhee.  She opens to book to read it.  We see a still shot of Katharine on the first page (this is quick on screen).  (Music starts to play...Katharine comes to life on the page...and it goes full screen).

Then the rest is Katharine (in somewhat of a high school setting) acting out the song playing off of the guy & eventually the girl that make Kat think she could die.  I'd like it to be a little silly, a little overdone....fun, cute...something that fits the feel of the song.  Bright colors.  Katharine looking cute (not overly sexy).

What are everyone else's ideas?

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.

^Good ideas there, Joe. That "book come to life thing" has been done before...but it can always be re-invented in myriad ways thanks to CGI.  If they have a bigger budget, they could put in the details of seeing Kat in illustration form that suddenly comes to life. Actually, that recent "animation in live action mode" special effect development has been used a lot--though it's a bit of a freaky way of looking at people interacting in what appears to be animated form.

I know this wouldn't happen--but it'd be interesting to see Nick act in the video with Kat on this song. I've always considered the song to be a bit biographical in the story behind Kat and Nick's meeting, becoming a couple, etc. To satiate the curious, they could just re-enact how they met. Or, better yet, just invent a more romantic story out of it using him as the actor for once. But then that'd probably get thrown out because of the fear of younger people thinking it weird a guy 20 years older is interacting with Kat romantically. So, ultimately, they'll have some other actor in there as in 'Over It.'

There's no doubt they'll use a flashback sequence of some kind there, because it's all recounting memories. That is, what she "thinks" happened...hence "I THINK it was the summertime." Maybe what's reality in her mind of the past events turns out to be something else at the end of the video. That'd be a nice surprise twist to the usual video plot.

I'm just glad this song celebrates a relationship rather than tearing one apart. There's too many songs out there lately celebrating liberating yourself from love rather than going with it.

Nothing jumps to mind. I guess they could throw concert footage into the video now, if they don't have any ideas. I always prefer something funny or bizarre, though - the effect of having watched too many Foo Fighters videos, I suppose. Unlike with a song's lyrics, I don't care if its video doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, let's cast Nick as "the boy she never wanted," and maybe we could get "Mr. Broadway" to be the supercool guy she's with, and they could run into each other on a miniature golf course, where Nick beans Mr. B. with a golf ball, sending him flying into the water, at which point K. realizes how incredibly cool HE is and goes skipping across the green into his arms. Fade out on them ducking into a photo booth to take incredibly cool pictures together.

I'M KIDDING!! I hate that video.

Has this one played itself out already? C'mon, let's have some fun. I promise I'll go hit up the voting sites as soon as I'm done, okay?

Since the Idols are going back to their hometowns this week, I'm thinking of a scene where you have this big motorcade pulling up to a highschool, the band is playing, and some of the locals are welcoming this guy out of this huge limo, and one of the ladies in the welcome wagon crew (Katharine) is having a flashback to when she went to school with this guy, only he was the class nerd, and we see obviously the same guy, only he's not Mr. Big, he's made up to be overboard-geeky (Clark Kent glasses, short trousers legs, all the cliche's), and K. is Miss Cheerleader prancing by while he stares at her in open-mouthed adoration. And she ignores him.

They wind up in the same room, where he again pines for her while she flirts with a football player with five-foot-wide shoulders.

She catches Nerd-in-the-present helping this leggy bombshell out of the back seat of the car and thinks she might die. "Oh lord, he's turned into Bill Gates, he has a trophy wife, and I'm a high school music teacher." In fact she could be leading the band that's merrily tootling away as he prepares to enter the school, and as she gets distracted watching him out of the corner of her eye, the band dissolves into a hopeless mess and finally they all run over to fawn over the returning hero. Maybe 3 little mini-Gates in hornrims crawl out of the back seat of the car and march proudly up to the school and one little boy turns around and sticks his tongue out at her.

Gee, it could be the anti-Girlfriend video. Miss Ain't-I-Hawt loses out to someone else. Or Katharine could play both girls, only Mrs. Gates is in a designer dress, diamonds, 5" heels and a blonde wig.

How did I miss that... Okay, for that line they're having a beach party and he's the "97 pound weakling" that Katharine and hunky boyfriend push around, or bury him on the beach with only his head sticking out.

It's summertime....Kat in bathing suit on beach with hunky, gorgeous surfer guys everywhere - staring at her, they all want her....but she's  looking in the distance at someone....."shoulda listened to my best friend"....who is pointing to someone off in the distance that Kat stares at and ignores the hunks.....

Chorus: "typical love story - started out as friends" shows Kat running and playing on the beach, smiling laughing - with someone - we don't see....

at the end.....it finally shows her with Nena!!

or...alternative ending......shows her walk up to a guy with long flowing hair - back to camera - she taps him on the back, he turns around and it's Sanjaya!!
