"Whoop  wooo woo! Whoop woo woo!    I think it was summertime..."

And listen to this...

"I said no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I said no, no...you're not the one for me!"

Black Horse and Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall!

You can even superimpose LS on BHCT just like Dangerous on Maneater!

Wasn't it that KT song when people got excited about Kat as an artist?

Simon said to her, "You are so current!".

RCA must've chosen LS as next single for people to remember her as that kind of artist. If Kat can make an underground song and an artist popular, then she should be able to make Love Story a hit!

LOL!  Well, I thought I'd share this epiphany when I tried to listen to LS in my car this morning. :-)

"This is my LOVE STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoop woo woo! Whoop woo woo!

Personally I don't see any connection between the two songs at all. Wouldn't the major/minor key variation make it hard to fit them together?

Just saw a movie that featured Corinne Bailey Rae's (Ican't ever spell her right) Put Your Records On and it made me wish the rumor was true about LS being used in an upcoming tv series. There are all kinds of ways to get a song out there.

Yep, it sure would. 'Black Horse'  is definitely in a minor key. I arranged it for Bb minor when I played it on the piano considerably last summer--but I think the original key is either B minor or E minor. 'LS' is about as major as you can get...no pun intended.

I get the point of the poster, though, that the "Whoo hoos" in 'LS' did remind some people of the 'Black Horse' sound from 'AI.' I don't know if that was truly intentional when you consider Nate Hills wrote that without probably worrying about Kat's prior sound. Maybe the "Whoo hoos" were worked in later by Kat herself when she was rebuilding the album to the sound she wanted. Coincidence or not, I remember mentioning in a comment on Kat's MySpace last January (after hearing the preview of it on Promosquad) that the "Whoo hoos" in 'LS' gave me remembrances of 'Black Horse.'

You can't help but superimpose a lot of pop songs anyway over another recently. Just go take a listen to the Top 20 songs chosen for the 'AI' songwriting contest. More than half of them could be superimposed over each other and ultimately be played as the same damn song. There used to be jokes about all country songs sounding alike. But there seems to be a formula to some pop songs recently that makes some of the harmonic schemes (and even the demo singers) sound identical.

I think Kat and her producers did a super job, though, of making each song on her album sound different from the other. You can't say that about a lot of pop albums today thanks to most debut pop albums having mostly filler that sounds like the intended hits--plus sometimes using the same songwriter. Kat having different writers on her songs helped a lot. It also gives you a little tutorial in how to make a good album. Different songwriting voices are essential...unless you're working with a brilliant songwriter who can create different songs while still maintaining his or her own harmonic voice. It isn't easy to do. It's why songwriters usually only have one or two of their songs used on any particular album.

Kat sang Love Story at Tiger Beat in LA and the crowd went wild. So, there's no reason to assume it won't do well. Think positively people!

That crowd is so used to people being afraid to be associated with them that they'll probably love her forever. Besides, that was Katharine live, up close and personal. Having said that, LS seems to do well in polls and ranks at the top of a lot of people's (official) pronouncements of what songs on the album they like best, and it's certainly a lot more upbeat and cheerful than OI. I'm just trusting the suits at RCA at this point. BTW, LS has been leaking out already with a few spins on Canadian stations. They sure do love her in Canada...
