So here's my story.. Yesterday was another beautiful day of mine, full of Kat Moments.

* I went to a mall to had lunch with my gang.. and next to the Food court,  held an ICE SKATING Competition..We didn't watch it, but we could hear all songs played there very well from the place we were eating. Then suddenly a friend said like " That Song sounds so familiar for me".. she started like "What song is this?. Oh it's Your Song! ". I was concentrating on my food, so i just  Didn't care at all. .....then the words started come to my mind "... Close ur eyes.. and feel me hold you.... Cuz without you, it's just an ORDINARY WORLD..." I was like OMG OMG OMG .. that was totally weird (in the good way) that i heard that song in an Ice Skating Competition....!!! ORDINARY WORLD was Played  there!!! Really, I was freaked Out all day! So Happy..

* In the Evening, I was At my home, i was watching an Entertainment show on my local TV station, After They played Harry Potter5 movie Trailer.. They said FOR NEXT, we will See What Happen in Hollywood these days.. Ok, they showed  a short clip of a place with "YOUNG HOLLYWOOD AWARDS" written there. OMG!!! Happiness came again to me!!! on a Day!!! Then They played like 4 minutes clip, started with Hilary Duff, Some Black guys i forgot the names, Dakota Fanning, Randy  and KATHARINE McPHEE!!!!! Aaaaaaah!!! I forgot how they called Kat coz it's blurred, That was the First time I saw Kat on Indonesian Channel Post-Idol..

Amazing! I have been (not so secretly) hoping that Ordinary World would get some recognition because it won't be a single and I don't think Kat will sing it in concert. It HAS to be known somewhere so it can be available for Grammy consideration. IMO it's worthy.

You know, you should have left your food and gone to the Ice Skating area and yelled "That's Katharine McPhee song, it's called Ordinary World! Everyone go to your fav music store and buy her CD!" LMAO...

It's best chance is a movie soundtrack.  There's no way it's going to be a single off the album.

Good stories there, Collette, of Kat's increasing presence in Indonesia. Somehow I imagine hearing 'OW' on a lot of ice skating rinks the world over in the months to come...especially when the professional skating season starts again next fall. By then, that Will Farrell movie 'Blades of Glory' will be out of people's subconscious and people can look at figure skating again without snickering.

Yes, 'OW' will probably have a lot of use in future media that needs to conjure some kind of emotion. Quite frankly, the best I've seen it used so far is Kat fan Danette's recent video she created as a tribute to the U.S. troops. I really don't think we'll see anything else that'll come close in bringing on a strong sense of emotion in connection with the song. Though, as I said above, we'll likely see it being used in figure skating routines during the U.S. or World Championships to bring out intense emotions as some skaters do during the finals. The Winter Olympics won't be happening for three more years (in Vancouver, B.C., incidentally)--so who knows if the song will still be front and center then. Though I think all of Kat's songs will be heard on 2000's oldies radio in coming decades. Welcome to the future when you start talking about 2000's oldies.

We'll likely see 'OW' be used in a movie someday, too, as already mentioned. A lot of movies are starting to save time and money by not using original songs and just rehashing old ones to create emotion in a particular scene. TV shows do that all the time lately--especially the final scene. Actually, I think we may hear 'OW' first on a TV drama show. There's dozens of shows that use that trend now of ending an episode with an emotional song to tie up plot points in a dramatic story. Don't be surprised if you hear some of Kat's ballads on one of those shows during an end scene in the near future.

And then there's the weird possibility of 'OW' being used in a film Kat ends up acting in. I think Kat wants to avoid the song at all costs, however, so I'm sure she'd exert her influence to get it out of there.

You know, with these kind of songs not being popular with Kat or other people lately, it makes you wonder how Walter Afanasieff (the songwriter) will survive in the industry. Will he have to start writing more urban stuff to keep working in the music industry? These type of songs still work in movie soundtracks as already said--so it can be at least done there if original songs for movies ever get written again.

I definitely see Kat winning a Grammy for 'OW' next year in the Best Female Pop Vocal category. How ironic it'll be for Kat to win an award for a song that's her least favorite on her album. Then again, a lot of singers have won major awards for songs they didn't exactly love themselves.

Yay, Collette, you had a surprising Kat day in an "ordinary world".  You give me a chance to put in my 50cents worth (inflation) here. I too luv this song and I really haven't found one music critic who didn't like it. Most say that Kat hits it out of the park!  TV, movie background music?  Yes,  I can see "Ordinary World" being used even in a Disney film, a la Elton John's "Circle of Love" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" in the Lion King.
