It may seem like "Over It'" has been around a long time, but you must consider a lot of stations didn't start playing it until February. Guys, who currently has the #1 video on VH-1 - three weeks in a row? This is the time to start requesting again, while Kat's video is at #1, and mention that when you request.
Also, this weekend I heard OI about 6 times on Star 101 in the SF Bay Area. I know the Los Angeles market is frustrated because she's not getting airplay, but she's still going strong in other large and mid-size markets. So, let's take advantage of the positive press, and step up the requests because . . . "Over It" ain't over until the Fat Lady sings.
Yeah, just from my chart following...Over It hasn't done anything different than anything else. Now, Kelly Clarkson's new song is getting added super fast but that's because she's got a 5-time platinum album under her belt. But it still doesn't rocket to the top right away. I think Kelly is still outside of the Top 20 in Top 40 airplay as of yesterday. Yep, #22.
And check this out. Beyonce & Shakira's "Beautiful Liar". Currently #21 and dropping spins. It never made it past #15! So there's no guarantees! Your name will get you to a certain spot but there has to be response from the audience to get it to the top!
But simply put...there's no uniformity because these stations add & drop things at different rates. They'll only add songs when they have openings in their playlists. So something has to go before they'll add Katharine's new song. What would be nice is for a lot of these stations to just replace Over It with Love Story. But they've waited too long in a lot of places for that to happen. So she'll have to wait for another opening.
Anyway...Love Story's path up the charts will definitely be quicker than Over It's was. How high will it go? Can't tell you that. But it'll certainly get interesting pretty quick I'm sure because at the least all of these stations she's doing radio shows for will jump on Love Story and promote their concert with it. And we're talking New York, Boston, Seattle, Atlanta, Kansas City, Sacramento, Minneapolis and Allentown (just outside Pittsburgh) here. So that would be a nice headstart for LS as far as audience #'s go.
