I'm beginning to think that she won't be able to come back to perform. After taking a second look at all of her tour dates coming up, it looks like she'll be too busy to come back to perform. Isn't Chris Daughtry going on a raido tour with her? That's what I heard. If this is true, then both of them won't be able to come back. Those are my thoughts, but what do you all think?

I think Chris will be back on Top 2 performance night to perform Home, al la the appearance of Bad Day by Daniel Powter last year. The schedule is pretty full so I don't see an open date for Katharine. Who knows she could come back next year. Bo Bice came back last year and it certainly didn't do anything great for him.

Still it couldn't hurt to be exposed to all those millions of people one more time--especially if they manage to plug her album.

I know I ask this a lot. lol. I don't even think Jennifer Hudson came back to perform, did she? I just started watching American Idol in the middle of season 4, so I don't know about her. She's been really busy as well as Katharine. I definately don't think Taylor will come back to perform. I will be surprised if he is. I think Chris and Katharine are the main Idols that will come back from season 5 if they get free time. If they don't, I'm sure they'll come back next year. Like you said CRB, but I'm still voting for Katharine on the American Idol hitlist as #1.

Oh, it definitely wouldn't hurt. I it isn't a panacea for a bad album. Katharine, fortunately, doesn't have that problem. I'd love her to come back and sing a knockout performance of Open Toes and have Simon, Randy and Paula soil their Depends, but I'm guessing that it isn't going to happen.

Since they've already used Not Ur Girl on Idol, albeit briefly, and if it's not going to be the next single, she might do that one to give it some exposure. Or if they think people are pining to see the Over The Rainbow girl again, she could do Home and give them a nice ballad. Actually I think the Depends soiling would only have happened if she'd tried to do OT as an Idol song selection. She might get away with it as a returning Idol/visiting performer using this year's Idolettes as her backup group. Oh, the picture I'm getting. Katharine fronting Melinda, LaKisha, Jordin, Haley and Gina. Gentlemen, start your recorders, this is one for the ages.

Quite honestly, I think Katharine being on American idol would help the show more than her!! She paid her dues with the show, it's time to move forward. Not that she should be ashamed of being introduced nationally by the show, but I don't see it being much help to her. And at this point with her busy schedule, she has to be careful not to spread herself too thin and just do the things that will help.

I think Taylor has to come back this season, if only as the reigning American Idol. That would be an appearance at the finale only. It may be a contractual thing. However, Katharine may not be invited back. It is not a matter of what the artists want at this point. I think we would have heard about the appearance by now and I think it would help her a great deal to be on Idol, if only as exposure to millions of people. I don't think she would sing a ballad just to pacify some former fans of hers on Idol. She would want to come out and rock the house with "Open Toes" or something uptempo. It's true that NUG has already been played this season, but there was never an announcement of who was singing.

I find it somewhat unfair that Idol uses Daughtry's song,I'm Going Home" every week on a commercial during the show!!They've only used a snippet of Not Your Girl and had Kat briefly as the answer to the weekly question.I just feel they seem to give more plugs to other Idols and not for Kat!!

I guess I'm just distracted by the thought of an audience of 30 to 60 million people, many of whom could be new to Idol (we all discover it in different ways at different times) and many of whom might have largely forgotten Season 5 by this time. That's a hell of a lot of people. I know, bigger doesn't always equate to better. Nonetheless.... And didn't somebody cite a lot of sales spikes for people who appeared on Idol? Why should she be any different?

I would find it very strange if Kat and Chris do not appear on Idol. They are the 2 most successfulI Idols of 2007 thus far.With both of them representing American Idol Alumni and being on the charts, it's almost unbelievable that they won't show up.

I am very sure both Kat and Chris will come back on Finale.. Nigel loves her, everyone on Idol loves Her.. They'll ask her to perform. Don't too worry..

I really hope that Kat comes back on Idol this year, especially on the Finale! That would be awesome. Don't you think it's possible that maybe they would want it to be a surprise that she was going to be on there? Like maybe until a day or two before it actually happened? I don't know, but it's possible isn't it? As far as Taylor, I wouldn't be surprised if they have to bring him back, being the reigning Idol and all. I'm hoping they bring back Kat and Chris though!

Not a problem! And no, Jennifer Hudson was never asked back. But she finished in seventh place, and didn't really have any star power until she landed the role in Dreamgirls last year.

I agree with you Thel. They do use Chris's song on American Idol more than they should. They even use a Chris Daughtry song when the contestants get voted off (in case you didn't notice) I prefer "Bad Day" more over "Home" because I think it sends the message that the contestant tried, they tried their best and its time to move on. "Home" just sends the message that your going home (not too impressed with that message) I find it very strange that no one has even mentioned Kat yet on that show aside from the American Idol Challenge. I want to hear Simon or someone else say "That performance sort of reminded me of our runner up last year, Katharine McPhee" to one of the contestants but it hasn't happened it. I am not worrying though because I'm sure they'll have her on, I mean they have to because they'd be idiots if they didn't. So if she is on the Finale, the very next day she has a concert on May 24 and then another one May 25. WOW this girl is going to busy 3 days straight, I hope she gets her rest and her voice is in-check before starting the wonderful Summer Radio tour.

i think, and im remaining positive about this, that it's still possible for Kat to appear at the Finale. she's waaay too precious for the Idol producers to let go of. i mean, let's not lose hope. as for me, i didnt think it was released that Carrie will be performing at the Finale with the Finalists until about 2 wks before the actual Finale date. so having no news about Kat coming to perform may not mean she's not gonna be on the show.. we just need to be patient, and have some faith. i do very much think that Kat's sales is gonna go up once she appears on AI6, i mean, looking at the way her album's been doing, i think there's no way her management's gonna let that opportunity pass. neither should the AI producers, coz Kat's a wonderful thing to come out off AI... it's actually a win-win situation on both parties. i have a very good feeling she'll be performing at the finale.. i mean, if TAylor's gonna be, and of course Chris will definitely be appearing, it's unfair for Kat to not get to appear, or atleast get invited back.

It's too bad 'AI' has to be fought for so much in obtaining the maximum amount of people watching to help Kat's sales. There really shouldn't be such a monopoly on TV like that, but you can't control what people watch and what they don't. The reality is, though, that these internet performances Kat's been doing lately are probably just as good or better than 'AI' would be in promotion. I've seen the spikes in people visiting her fansites in the last week or so after Kat's amazing performances of 'Me', and then the acoustic set on VH1. There's evidence of other increases in sales and overall general interest in Kat after those performances were released. These internet mini-concerts are probably viewed by as many or more people than 'AI' gets in a given week. I still stand up for the idea that TV is still the best place to market yourself over the internet. Even so, I think that might be equal when you get exclusive performances online only. What I'm trying to say here is that it may not make that much difference if Kat appears on 'AI' this season. Do I dare say that maybe her management (or Kat herself) realize she doesn't necessarily need the show for promotional purposes...or wouldn't make that much difference in sales? The heavy promotions on the net pretty much decided who was going to buy it and who wasn't going to buy it. Perhaps not a full picture, but I'd say the reality of who would buy a Kat album doing Rhythmic Pop and who wouldn't have already spoken with the sales figures. And it's not bad at all for a start. It might say Kat should try something a little different on the next album though. I'm beginning to think what I said above if Kat ultimately doesn't show up on 'AI' this season. It might be for time reasons and the desire to not lean so heavily on them just to get promotion. At least it'll prove Kat can still do well without needing their aid. Other than that, we know everybody there loved Kat a lot. If Kat truly wants to be on there before or during the finale...they'll get her on. I wouldn't necessarily pinpoint the producers as being the reason she isn't there as I said. This is just in preparation in case it doesn't pan out as we all hoped...

I think any publicity is good publicity. Every superstar is lined up to be on the show because of the tremendous exposure. If Nigel and Warrick have their way she will be back. Count on it.

Of course I work free, too, so I can do that with no consequences.
