Having Shakira and Katharine together on the same show just isn't fair...
                                to Shakira!

At least she didn't have to compete with Kat vocally last night. That might have been too much for the poor girl.

I hated it! I thought American Idol was about showcasing the "undiscovered talent" of the people competing, for goodness sakes, NOT everybody else! I don't watch the show to see Stevie Wonder, Barry Manilow, this Shakira girl doing a Hawaiian dance, or next week's Kenny Rogers perform.....not anybody who is already known for their showbusiness! IMO, they are taking away from the Idol performers when they spend time letting these other people perform. Have they done this every year? What happened to all the group singing and stuff like they did last year? I think the time is better spent on that or at least on doing short interviews with the contestants so the public can get to know them better than letting already well-known performers have the time on stage! Just my opinion, but the show is not about them! BTW, loved your comment, Bill! The show would do well to remember that Katharine HAS DANCING EXPERIENCE, too! She can sing, dance, and act! Heck, she's just really too good for American Idol and all the petty little inconvenient garbage they are coming up with this season.

I do agree with you, Leah. The show is about the contestants, but I suppose I am a bit more optimistic about it all...

I mean, how many of us would want to meet greats like Stevie Wonder? And not just meet him, but receive tips and pointers as well? And, well, while he's there, why not have him sing a song?

I could have done without the others, but come on, Shakira is hot. There has to be one red blooded american male (or female) out there that agrees with me.  I'm not saying I would take her over Katharine now.  I wish Kat was in a comfortable enough position to be able to do a number like Shakira did without worrying about the slim margin of error she has.

Well, she's a whole bunch cuter than Stevie or Barry or Kenny.

OK...I'll say it. She's hot. Some would say smokin'.

But ever since Kat came into my life, other vocalists don't "do it" for me any more. I've even just about given up listening to Carrie, and before Katharine I would listen to "Some Hearts" at least a few times a week!

Oh, I don't have a problem with them having other great singers & performers help coach the contestants with their songs... I do think that is very positive and the contestants have received a lot of good from that. It's just that with the results show being soooo short, and now that they've cut the Tuesday night show down to only one hour also, we're not seeing as much of the Idols. It's like there's just not enough time to spare to give to these other people. They need to add in some more time if they want "other performers" besides the Idols to perform. We don't even get to hear or see the very last of the results show, the last performance of whoever got voted off, because of such short air time. Just think, if Katharine "had" gone home last night, or heaven forbid that it ever did happen, we wouldn't get to see much of her very last performance, the good-bye's and so forth. I guess it's just my thoughts that it should be the Idols' air time, but I do think that their receiving coaching while they're picking out songs and rehearsing is a good thing. Nothing wrong with that part of it.

Agree with Leah, its good to see if they are being coached by great performers, and last show is darn short they squeze everything in to it... yes Shakirrrrra is hot! but I can watch her on MTV if i want to... right now all i wanna see is Kat and contestants.. I rather see some behind the scenes clip or something or few more interviews before results

I'm with you Chad.

I think the show can afford to spare 3 or 4 minutes for someone as hot as Shakira to perform. I'm sure the Idols (the guys at least) enjoyed seeing her in action and I think it's great that American Idol can attract artists of this nature.

Don't get me wrong I don't think she's a patch on Katharine but it's unfair to compare anyone to the perfect Miss McPhee.

BUT, nothing compare to Miss Katharine!^ ^ hehehe. . .

Everything is HOT when it comes to Miss Katharine. . . her eyes, her smile. . . most importantly, her voice is SUPER HOT! It made me have the McPheever. . =D

And I don't want to be cured from this McPheever! hahaha. . .^ ^

Without a doubt, this was the worst performance by anyone on that stage. I can't stand people like Shakira. She thinks that she's so great and shows off, but the truth is, I doubt anyone who watched her enjoyed anything she did. It was just awful, and at first you could barely even hear Shakira, which may have been a good thing.
