Kat performance on Home was beautiful..first time I really appreciated the song. Love the new twist on Over It and Love Story...all three songs were surperb. Appreciate her versatility as an recording artist.

Wow those performances were absolutely amazing. She sings Home amazingly, she really gets into it... I love the twist on Over It and Love Story is just a great song.

Aaaaaamaaaaziiiing!!!!!! Yeah the ballad version of Over It is hot! Wow, too cool for words.

 

And did you see the trivia bits in the flipbook. A couple things I did not know about Ms. McPhee, like her first date and the swear word she uses too much! LOL

Edit: Love Story and OVer It are no longer playing, it doesn't say they have been deleted, it acts like they are still processing when you first upload them. Could just be a glitch on youtube. What a wonderful gift Kat has given her fans! I think she knows that even though we all love her album and support her no matter what, there are some of us that do prefer the more R&B arrangements more than Pop. I think these arrangements are wonderful and really showcase her vocal talents to their fullest. Kat knows that we stand behind her career choices and I think it's definitely a "nod" in our direction that she did the different versions for VH1. She really does appreciate all of her fans, no matter what our ages and music genre preferences! Just goes to show what a caring, classy lady she is!

Shouldn't we al go over and comment and rate the videos? It doesn't take long to register at YouTube. That's "all," not al. But al can go too if he wants to.

Sometimes I embarrass myself with the way I blather and rave over her stuff at YouTube but that's life. I absolutely LOVE these! This is the first time I've heard Love Story and didn't think of a highschool prom, even if that's what we're supposed to think of. Let's just say I appreciated this version a lot more than the recorded one.

Thanks for indulging us YouTubers, Phee. Wow. Just wow.

Totally agree,Moms4Kat..Kat is just so considerate of all her fans;giving us this gift!!!Love Kat's re-interpretations of her songs;especially Over It!!Live and with minimal accompaniment,one can really appreciate the beauty and purity of Kat's unique sound!!Also loved the leg kick after Home was over! With every new performance,Kat continues to demonstrate her amazing versatility!!

It's strange to hear Over It so slow after hearing it SO many times the normal way. I like it, BUT my brain keeps fighting my enjoyment by expecting the tempo to speed up! I

Oh...my...God...these performances even exceed the 'Me' performance from over at Yahoo last month. Kat should be thankful she has that music director (I think that's him on the keyboard) if he's responsible for arranging these slowed down, soul/jazz performances she's doing lately online. These songs were arranged almost identically to what they did with Paula Cole's 'Me' cover. And I'm glad Kat's having the opportunity to sing these songs in other media outlets to prove her diversity and appease the other half of the Kat fanbase who want her to sing more this way. It's a good compromise to do what's marketable on CD...and then go off and do performances like this in other places that don't count in marketability factors. I guess we have to understand that making a CD that's made to sell and doing free performances for the online community are two different entities when it comes to legitimacy in the music industry. The first is to prove yourself as something marketable...and the other is becoming the new avenue to prove what else you can do outside the usual confines of what's acceptable in the music mainstream.

Well, Kat knows the fans can make MP3's of these performances--though it's a shame she can't profit off of performances like this. If she actually sold a CD singing songs in this vein (and 'Over It' seems like a profound masterpiece when heard this way )--I wonder if it'd actually sell well? I think it would...yet you hear people say that Kat couldn't get away with doing this kind of thing in the mainstream music industry without worrying about becoming a "speciality" type of singer. It's interesting that Kat seems to be really into the zone when she sings this way too--despite her saying it's not ultimately what she wants to do right away.

I have to give kudos to her musicians here during the performances. That interplay between the keyboardist, Kat and Jaco her guitarist was phenomenal...especially during 'Love Story.' These acoustic performances are the type of thing you don't see often enough anymore--and I wish Kat would do some of this more during her eventual U.S. and/or world tour. She'll have a standing ovation for five minutes if she did one of these numbers during a live show. This IS the definitive performance of 'Home' too.

Oh, and I see Kat does a martial arts move with her leg now after she knows she just kicked butt with a great performance.   They'll have to keep the guitar player slightly beyond leg distance so there's no threat of injury...

silentsteve, trippy11, Phee and Mark,  thank you guys.  And thanks to Vh1 and especially Kat for bringing us these amazing performances.  I do prefer and enjoy her soulful rendition of these songs.  And with "Home," Kat knocks it out of the park!
