I love Open Toes but I am hoping it won't be the second single. Yes, I'd her to release it as a single but not as the second one. I think Everywhere I Go will be a great second single. Since it is an sorta ballad (like Mariah's We Belong Together) which showcases her voice which is something the AI fans are looking from her and it is not going out of her new image.

Though I guess it can argued that since this second single could be huge...Kat would make the time to learn some new dance moves for a music video. As I always say, a visual always helps make a song more compelling. Seeing Kat with just the right visuals and moves--paired with the music and her vocals on 'OT'--could be quite compelling. For those who just hate to listen to the song, that might help immensely. Even 'Over It' worked better for me when seeing a plot wrapped around it. Seeing intense emotions played out on the expressive face of Kat truly does help. Yes, that's usually typical that the summer season (which begins around late May in the entertainment industry) brings on more fun songs that are devoid of any meaning other than having fun. The TRL crowd would likely keep 'OT' afloat all through the summer, too, as a song to hear while on vacation. We'll just have to wait and see in the next month or so. I think we've learned (at least those of us from the 'AI' board days last year) that most internet rumors about Kat are bogus. Also, if Kat does another internet chat soon, someone asks the question...and she gives a runaround or a "I can't say anything right now"...then you know it's a green light.

I may be one of those people who immediately panned out the song when it was released on Promosquad, but I won't be the last to deny that it is a catchy, upbeat, and right on the money song. I myself debunked my own opinion when I heard it in full, and it's now one of my fave tracks on the album, releasing it as a second single will help propel Kat up in the charts and the $$$ will be coming back in! did I just make sense at all?!

Actually that dorky little dance she did on TRL totally cracked me up, it looked like a little kid trying to mimic what it was seeing on tv or something. But then that's part of her charm, the six year old who can morph into a sexpot with the addition of a gown, heels and extensions.

If this is the single this will be a humongous hit in night clubs, dance clubs, any club really. "Open Toes" is not my favorite song on the album but it would make a good single. I am just wondering how it would sound live on stage. Since the song has the lyrics repeated fast and a lot of dancing involved at the same time it might be a little tiring but I think Kat can handle it. Dancing while singing is very hard to do because you don't want to sound off key or out of breath but I don't think Kat will have a problem with it. In those AOL session videos Kat was really moving around and she sounded great singing "Open Toes" The video for this song, I can just imagine will be incredible seeing Kat doing those sexy dance moves wearing those open toed shoes.

i think it's one of those songs that isn't in the middle, so to speak. It's either gonna do very well, or it's gonna flop hardcore. I just don't see to much middle-ground with a track like this. It's not safe, it's risky.

If I'm not mistaken, Greg, Kat said she studied dance starting sooner (and for longer) during her youth than she studied singing. The tremendous talent we've only gotten brief glimpses of must just be "bursting at the seams to get out"! *Can you imagine Kat in that gorgeous* *red Swarovski crystal mini dress with those red matching open-toed shoes* *doing a hip dance routine to "Open Toes", including a few high "can-can kicks" (for those of us a bit beyond our teenie-bopper years)?* *WOOOOOWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! And as a visual refresher, check out Kat kickin' up a heel in this HOT dress (kinda like in one of her dance moves) + a closeup of those "SIZZLIN' SHOES" (and toes!)......*

I really hope that Open Toes is the second single. It is by far the most commercial song on the whole album and it is co catchy that even my mom has caught herself singing it around the house, lol. I think that Open Toes would no doubt ATLEAST give Katharine a top 20 hit, and more likely a top ten hit. It will also show the different styles on Kat's album and will attract a whole new audience then what "Over It" did. I think that it really is a win, win situation. BTW. Does anyone else think that Neglected should be a future single? I think it's amazing <3

I find it so funny how people are so easy to judge people they don't know, but think they have the right to scrutinize others because those "others" are celebrities. From Britney Spears to Katharine McPhee radio hosts and magazines will always make unfair statements and allegations. I am fans of both Britney and Katharine, two totally different artists, but I find that whether you are a icon or a promising newcomer from a hit reality show, the punches and jabs will come and never stop...but I have news for the haters, they won't stop either so you can take your opinions and give them to people that care, because the fans are like, SO over it.

Honestly, I really really hope that this isn't just a rumor and that it's TRUE! All of my friends who wouldn't necessiarily be Kat Phans, absolutely LOVE Open Toes! I'll let them use my ipod and they always put it on! It would be great because her first single was Over It, so now she could use a really fun up beat one, especially with summer coming. Then, she could follow it up with "Home" and reassure her fans that only liked the "idol version" of her that she still has that in her too.

"Open Toes" is my least favorite song on the album, but oddly enough it's the one that I have the clearest vision for of a video. The video has to have a Benny Hill meets Bruce Lee concept! It would begin with Kat leaving a store with some new shoes, but running into a gang of foot-fetish miscreants who try to kidnap her. She and a shoe salesman fight them off by using pairs of heels like nunchuks, and then the salesman carries a relieved and grateful Kat back to the store as if they're a couple on their honeymoon. The salesman makes an aggressive move on her, though, and they struggle until Kat knocks him out with a double-heel blow to the forehead. She then picks out another pair of shoes to buy, pays by stuffing some $100 bills in the unconscious salesman's mouth, and walks out of the store with a gleam in her eye. All of this would be shown at double speed like a Benny Hill skit. The salesman should be played by Dave Grohl, the lead singer from the Foo Fighters, who's made hilarious videos in a similar vein. If the rumor is true, I hope they don't make the typical video where the singer and her backup dancers form a grid and do some routine dance moves. It'll be the non-vocal elements that salvage that song for me, so unless Kat has some really spectacular dance moves under wraps, she should save the dancing for her concert appearances, and give her videos real and interesting plots. BTW, if you want to compare "Open Toes" favorably to other songs in today's pop scene, wouldn't you have to make the case that OT's lyrics are dumber than other songs?

Good point about Freakum Dress by Beyonce. The lyrics are downright cheesy, but they didn't realease this as a single. They released tracks that would appeal to a broader audience. I think Not Ur Girl is that song for Katharine. It has all the ingredients for a hit. Katharine doesn't need a top 20 placing for her second single. She needs a HIT and I personally don't think Open Toes is that song.

i agree. "Not Ur Girl" is the more wiser choice to make, but it almost feels as if the producers are somewhat desperate if they want to release "Open Toes" instead. It could backfire very easily...or maybe not....it's a very risky call to make. I'm not sure it's a risk worth taking at this point....being the 2nd single. If it were the 4th or 5th single...well then yes, but 2nd? I don't know. Sounds scary. Just a thought.
