This rumor corresponds with the music reviewers whom a few months ago predicted that "OPEN TOES" would be a summer smash hit for KatharineA well produced music video would be DYNOMITE!!

Open Toes has the potential to be a great dance tune. And a dance video has a much greater chance of success. Hmmm, Kat dancing... isn't that grand!

I just love hot rumors!
And if this one proves out I will be quite pleased.  I think the vocal
on Open Toes is outstanding and it is a very cool song too.

I guess its just me, but I hope the next single is NOT "Open Toes"....
I think there's much better potential in Not Ur Girl, Each Other, Love Story and Home...
3 of these are currently playing in theatres, so I was hoping one of those three would be the next single...

I agree, but the whole album with a few exceptions is not the best showcase of her talents.  I'd like to get her in my home studio to show the so called "master producers" how it should be done.

It's a shame but the complexion of the current music scene is that style almost always wins out over substance.

I am very much a fan of Open Toes, but, I think a transition song like Not Ur Girl or Each Other, before singling Open Toes, would very much be the safe way to play it and there is nothing wrong with playing it safe.  Home, in my opinion,  would be a step in the wrong direction,  a ballad at this point would be a step back toward the "Idol Katharine" image that RCA has been assiduously remaking.

Rest assured that the people who produced this album could make an album that showcased Katharine's voice and that was never the goal for them or for Katharine.  Ordinary World, perhaps the greatest "showcase" of Kat's voice on the album ,is Katharine's least favorite song and I doubt is because of the somewhat corny lyrics.

The goal was to create music that was interesting enough to stand up to sustained, saturated radio exposure.   So it has to have have enough Pop hooks to make it easy to pick up, but just enough complexity to keep people from getting bored in short order.

Katharine's gift for using the intimate, emotional vocal as a hook is really something that isn't going to play on TOP40 radio, at least from what I've heard on there.  Even the songs that have emotional lyrics are sung in in a snappy upbeat way.    So pretty much take the ballads off the table, they are there and add a lot to the CD but are non-starters in the current radio environment.

What I really love about Katharine's CD  is that  her  "natural gift" substance very much shines through the "current pop radio environment" style that many of the song were constructed in, at least to my ear.  In fact steering clear from the excesses (say for example Katharine rapping or Danja rapping, ect.) in vogue now could cut either way, helping or hurting the album.

I, too, hope this rumor is just that. I think Not Ur Girl would be the best choice for the next single because it would have more cross-demographic appeal. This song has a basic rock beat and would be unique compared to what's out there today. I also agree that thev reviews would probably be not too favorable because of the sheer frivolousness of the lyrics.

Right now it's about moving units, and Open Toes is the song that's gonna do it.  Critics may pan it, but EVERYONE will be talking about it.  This song has hit written all over it.  It's been the most talked about song on the fan message boards since we first heard it.  When people hear it it grabs their attention, and most importantly, they remember it.  I am 100% convinced this will not only be the next single, but it will be the one that has the most impact of any single off this ablum, and will establish Katharine's place amongst today's biggest pop divas.  The second album will be the one that separates her from them.

Well said Mark, I share your feelings on this subject. 'Open Toes', regardless of how it is perceived by critics, is the one song that has constantly stayed in my head from the first day I heard it.

Someone on IDF supposedly knows a choreographer that's putting something together for Kat.  As we saw on the AOL sessions OT is tough to sing live when you're moving around and getting out of breath.  It'll be interesting to see how they work it out.  I imagine there will be backup dancers doing most of the dancing so Kat can concentrate on the singing.  Perhaps there will be a musical break when Kat can put down the mic and get her freak on.

I can see where everyone that doesn't want Open Toes to be the next single is coming from, but come on, have a little faith in our girl here.

So what if the critics don't like it. It would definitely get a lot of attention and people will be interested in hearing more of what Kat has to offer.

I'm all for Open Toes being the next single. Sure it doesn't display her voice like some other songs, but it's the kind of song that lots of people are interested in.

Exactly, and as Katharine's hard core fanbase  we really have an important part in promoting Over It as long and enthusiastically as we possibly can, whether that be via requestion locally at radio stations, nationally at Open House Party, XM Radio and whatnot or  5-star rating  and commenting on the official RCA version of Over It up on YouTube.  The next single is fun to speculate about but what we do today is really the key.

Back in February when music reviewers were giving there reviews on her album, if you check back on those reviews you'll see where a few predicted that "OPEN TOES" would be the hit of the summer."A Marching song for all girls" "A Girl's anthem" were there quotes. GO KAT GO!!

What are "all the signs" that are pointing to Open Toes? Just curious.

Judging from some of the videos I've been watching on TRL the past few weeks, I'd say Open Toes couldn't possibly be any sillier than they are. (Can anybody say Girlfriend?) It's bright and catchy and rhythmic, and the visuals would be arresting to say the least. And the critics aren't going to be the ones doing the buying and requesting and enjoying, so basically I guess I'd have to say let 'em rave. At this point I can hardly tie my shoes without humming "put em on, put em on, let's go" under my breath as I do it. If it can hook me, the rest of the world might just be easy pickings.

ME TOO, GUYS!!! 'OPEN TOES' WAS INSTANTLY MY FAVORITE TRACK ON THE ALBUM THE 1ST TIME I HEARD IT --AND EVEN AFTER HEARING IT A FEW HUNDRED TIMES NOW, I STILL INVOLUNTARILY JUST "YELP OUT LOUD, SMILING EAR-TO-EAR", EVERY TIME I HEAR IT AGAIN!!! (which is every day on my mp3 player during my workout --I LOVE IT!)

GO KAT GO! And McPhans, just be patient ....after Kat's proven herself as a 'pop diva', someone like David Frost will produce an album for her that, as Mark says, "will be the one that separates her from them!" In fact, it'll launch her into an orbit far out of reach of TRL's earth-bound pop divas!!!
