I thought of doing this.

As you know, yesterday on Z-100 (WHTZ) in New York, was not a great day.  For the first time, since Katharine McPhee's "Over It" was first played on January 26th, "Over It" was not on either the "High Noon Countdown" or the "Interactive 9 at 9", with Romeo On The Radio.

That is a big problem, ladies and gentlemen.

Here is what I want to do.

Request "Over It" on Z-100 (WHTZ) this weekend.

Z-100 (WHTZ) is the only radio station in New York, that plays Katharine McPhee's song "Over It", not Z-100's sister station, 106.7 Lite FM (WLTW), 95.5 WPLJ, and this is in #1 market in the country, New York.

Last Friday, 534,000 of you requested "Over It", and she was #1 at noon that Friday, and then dropped like a rock, where she was not on either countdown yesterday.

It's even happening over on "TRL", as well.

Many radio stations are not even playing Katharine's "Over It", here in New York, it's a big deal.

Let's prove Z-100 wrong.

There are almost 4,500 members of www.katharinefans.com, fansite, which is the largest online Katharine McPhee site anywhere.

If you're like me, you want to see "Over It" on Z-100.  People across the country has the chance to experience the McPheever on "American Idol", last year.

Tomorrow, as you know, if Katharine's birthday.  I would like nothing better than everyone to request "Over It" on Z-100 this weekend, and have her back on both the "High Noon Countdown" and the "Interactive 9 at 9".

Katharine would love to see "Over It", back at #1 at noon and at 9.

If you have nothing to do, this weekend, request "Over It" on Z-100.

Here is a cut and paste of a post on this subject that I made at IDF yesterday:

Over It did not make the countdown at noon or at nine today. Z100 played over it at 8:50 EDT so the handwriting was on the wall as far as the countdown is concerned. They couldn't play it 15 minutes later. If you are going to go the E-mail route I would tread carefully because last Friday I was told....well, here is the E-mail:

"Romeo - New York City"

Somebody  at KMF deleted this part which basically says don't request more than once per day or they will block you at the IP level.


I Google Tim Herbster ( who was the person at Z100 who contacted me and sent the censored email ), he went to Z100 in 2002 leaving a station that he did Programming at also DJed at under the handle of BOOKER to supposedly do the job of afternoon DJ but he clearly is more of a programming/music director type guy at this point of his career.

So I've been sort of hamstrung over the last week. I'm pretty sure that they have the IP address info for the source of the Emails because they all came from different email accounts but the same computer. And note it says ONE REQUEST PER DAY and does not say one per request show (ie noon and nine) I didn't know quite what that meant and have been sending one from my other computer (different IP) per day as well.

In hindsight, I could see the fall coming this week, because Over It's position has been softening for weeks. If they are going to discourage Kat fans as they have been doing, they told several Kat fans who called Z100 this morning that Katharine didn't make the noon countdown hours before the countdown at noon today...what is the purpose in that if not to discourage their requesting, shouldn't they just count the request for the 9@9 without   that  little morsel of information being exchanged. Clearly intent on the phone answerers part.

And the whole "b!tch" comment by Carolina was orchestrated banter on the morning show, she is not going on the air at the largest station in the country and saying that in a vacuum about an artist they have been pushing lately. Everyone in that booth, if not the station,  knew where that "conversation" was headed when they asked her opinion.

I'm saying keep requesting from Z100 but don't nag and if they tell you to back off, as seems to be the message that some Kat fans are getting, then I wouldn't push it. They spin it a lot at this point and we should be glad for that.

Just my two cents on the entire Z100 situation.

Some KMF exclusive additional thoughts:

Z100 if they want to support Katharine can do it totally independent of these request shows.  Spins immediately before and after the request show and spins at peak AI times can more than compensate for AI lost from dropping on the countdown.  Daughtry has been out of the countdown for a while and still does quite well at the station, for example.

Requesting at Z100 is very important  even if  Katharine's Over It never makes the countdown again,  Z100 knowing that the song is in demand is just something that MUST be there irrespective of countdown gratifications for Kat fans.  Keep this in mind and don't get discouraged, look at the big picture (total spins and AI) at z100 and the bigger picture ( the  Mediabase ratings) and for encouragement if she doesn't show up on the countdown.
 
Final thought, if people calling and requesting Over It at ~11:00 am on Friday morning are  being told (and they were, I have no doubt)  that "it didn't make the countdown", then that is telling us that the ending time cut point  for requests (likely due to tabulating, and scheduling the music so the countdown songs aren't played immediately before of after the countdown spin ) might be many hours before the actual countdown occurs.  This information might help shape our requesting strategy.

I do want to thank everyone who has helped keep this song in the countdowns for the past month but please  remember this is just the beginning of the life of Over It at Z100 and requesting it consistently over the long term (next several months)  is the key to helping this single succeed.

I agree with you eariler William when we spoke..... I will continue to call Z100 and request her multiple times during the day and night... We AND KAT just need everyone here to do the same, like we were doing in the past... Don't let up just because Kat starts to do well and get the # 1 position... Lets keep her there... Same thing on TRL... She gets #1 and I suspect some of us then lighten up on our voting..

One last thing, I also agree with you CRB.. except for one point.... I truly DO NOTbelieve they were trying to discourage us when they tell us a little before noon that she isnt in the countdown..
First off, I've created a personal freindship with the person who answers the Z100 phones for the Noon Countdown... She knows how invested I am with Kat and how I care.. Typically, I will get a call in around 11:30 daily, and I'll ask at that time, how is Kat doing today.. She typically would say "she's looking good again, she'll be in the coutdown."... Its only 30 minutes before the countdown, so by then it seems the tabulations are completed..
So on last Friday, when I called, it was just this person again telling me where Kat stood for that day because I talk to her daily... And she was truly disappointed also..
Everyone here should believe me when I tell you all she was not trying to discourage me or us from calling and requesting Kat, but rather just letting me know and to truly sympathize with me.. She even said to me, you Kat fans have been doing a great job, I'm sure you'll get her back in the countdown next week... So, she was ENCOURAGING She was being positive, if anything...
Again, lets just get back to requesting Kat as we have been in the past and I'm confident we'll get her back to #1 where she deserves to be... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAT !

That is great news, because I know that Z100 ( and the New York Katharine McPhee fans ) have been a huge force in getting this song to where it is nationally and will continue to be a huge part of it.

When the tabulations are complete is an interesting question, because the top ten songs need to be moved from the normal spin times to the countdown. So figure at least 2 hours before, maybe a bit less? How often do they play the ten most requested songs during the day? That time that my Email was read at Noon it was sent in the last 30 minutes before the countdown so it must have just caught their eye and they just decided to read it.

I think it is safe to assume that they do have to re-work their schedule to accommodate a song that does or does not make the countdown. But I am sure they us a computer program that can do that pretty quickly. so I am not sure they would need 2 full hours for that. I think a safe assumption would be an hour before is cut-off time.

dredged up this old thread because Z-100 may be receptive to placing her in the 9 AT 9 list inasmuch as their new initial rank for Over It this week is #4. just viewed it on Yes.com. is it worth the hard voting to get her in the top 9 ?

Yes, I saw that and also interesting that she dropped out of KIOI's top 10 for the first time in a long time.  I supect that it is more an anomoly of the spin schedule early in a new month rather than Caroline and the gang being ready to make nice.  Worth a try though, I'm sure Romeo will be glad to hear from old friends.

I believe Mediabase listed her as #12 on Z100 as does their play list, but it sure looks as if she is now #4. Gee, even #12 would be a lot better than I wished for. This really caught me by surprise. It's probably just because of the upcoming Zootopia, although they only have Kat listed as signing autographs. I'll send requests, but I'm going to feel like an idiot if no one else does (like the three day weekend I waisted voting on KIIS LA.)

I am surprised that somebody is responding to this. As you know, Katharine McPhee is going to be performing at Z-100's (WHTZ) "Zootopia" at Nassau Coliseum on May 18th.

That is a good thing. Yesterday, I heard it on Z-100 for the first time in a long time. I do hope that Katharine's "Over It" or her second single, which I hope comes out soon, who do the same thing.

I still request "Over It" on the "Interactive 9 at 9".

We obviously didn't get the nine at nine, but it wasn't long after we voted that Romeo said he was playing Over It, by request. That was really cool as I can't get Over It played on any local station. I think we should be requesting now while they are listening to us, because looking at the Mediabase report only NY and the other stations with shows are spinning. When the shows are over it will be time for the second single for sure.
