Hi Kat Packers and McPhans!
    
     I have a new project that I'd like to start this week for Kat- a scrapbook to commemorate her first tour.  Here's how it will work-If you're going to an AI show, starting with Kat's first one this week, you're invited to post (or email) a recap with a photo, in this thread.  Then, I'll take each concert date, and make a scrapbook page out of it. When it's finished, I'll send the book to Kat, as a gift from the Kat Pack and McPhans, which will be a neat reminder of each day of the AI Tour.  Obviously, we'll need a lot of people to help out with this- (and it's fine if we don't have a representative here from this board on each of the tour dates.  We can always look to other sites for a Phan who can give us a recap, if we need to.)
 

Here's exactly what we'll need:

*First, please post if you would like to participate in this project, with the name of the CITY and DATE of your concert.  (Note-It is fine to have more than one representative for each date). 

*While at your concert, try to take pictures of anything Katharine-related.  This could be the display of Katharine items for sale, a cluster of Katharine Phans in their orange attire, or of course, Kat herself (either onstage or with fans). 

*When you return from your concert (can be within the next two or three days after), post one, two, or even three of your favorite photos from the show, along with a short (or long, if you prefer) recap/ review of the show.  (Basically, just tell about your experience before, during, and after the show.  For example, which of Kat's songs did you like most-and why, funny experiences with other Kat Phans, your experience in meeting Kat (if you're so lucky), etc.)  If you would rather email me full sized pics and/or your recap, just email them NoImNotAWaitress@AOL.com.  If you need extra time to get in your pics and recap, it's no problem, just let me know.

     I'm going to start a list in the following post, of people who have volunteered to help out with this project so that we can keep up with which shows we'll still need help with.  This will be an ongoing project, but I think it's something Kat will really appreciate, and it's another project that a lot of people can be involved in.  I will keep everyone updated on how the project is turning out, and will scan each page as I finish it so that you'll all be able to see exactly what Kat will see.   Please don't hesitate if you have any questions about the project, or helping out.  Thanks, and let's have fun with this!

****For anyone who can't take a camera into the concert, it's no prob at all.  If you still wish to donate something in addition to your recap-and even for those of you who do submit concert photos-you can also send in a picture of your posters, or of yourself in your Kat attire.  Plus, you could submit a ticket stub for the page, or a picture of your backstage pass or meet and greet ticket, a miniture version of your poster, or whatever you may have or want to make that's concert related. (This is just an extra option though, so don't worry if you can't submit anything but a recap.)   Basically, you have complete artistic freedom here, so be creative, and let's make this an incredible book for her.  Yayyyy! I can't wait to read everyone's recaps!!!!  Thanks again everyone!!!

Count me in for Portland, OR (9/1)--though I can't guarantee photographs. I'll take a camera, though I usually don't bother taking any recording devices because the Rose Garden is overly strict with their security. They frisk you down to the lining of your pockets to see if you have one when going in.

If nothing else, I'll paint a vivid picture in a long review. Those of you who've read me around on the boards for a while know that's a given.

Good project, Laura. And Kat should appreciate seeing her first tour documented in a scrapbook. We should do the same thing next year for her first solo tour that will be better organized.

I will be attending the concert in Louisville, KY on August 18. I don't know if I will be allowed to take a camera in, but I will be happy to fill you in on my experience. I wish I had a meet and greet, but I will be glad to share my recollection of the evening. So add me to the list!

Danielle, that's the biggie!!  I've read your posts on Idolforums and know what a fabulous fan you are.  How exciting that Katharine will be joining the tour just in time for you to see her!!  Good luck with getting those passes, by the way!

Another great project = ) I'm going to the LA concert on Aug 26 and I have pretty good seats (4th row but on side, not center) so hopefully I'll get some good Kat pics! Maybe I'll see lots of other McPhans/Kat Pack members there since it's Kat's hometown... Thanks for putting this together!

so here's my recap from the 7/28 show in DC (Kat's first show!!! yay!!)

ok, so I woke up Friday morning with a 101 fever.  I was ready to cancel the trip to DC, but I figured that I'd be fine once I had some Tylenol in my system.

So, I get to Penn Station, get on a train, and about 3 hours later I'm in DC. Only problem is that my fever didn't go down. I was ready to get back on a train and head back to NYC because I didn't think it would be fair to other people to go to the concert and risk getting them sick. I decided I'd go to my hotel to take a loooooooonnnnnnnnngggggg nap and see how I felt later on. Luckily, a second dose of Tylenol did the trick and my fever broke and went down to about 99.

I still wasn't feeling great, but I knew that getting to see Kat in concert would make me feel better. When the cab dropped me off at the Verizon Center, I got really nervous that I'd see a sign on the door announcing that Kat wasn't going to be performing, but luckily, that wasn't the case.

So I walk into the Verizon Center and find my seats. They were actually pretty good, which I was surprised about since they were pretty last minute...much better than the seats I had at Nassau Colliseum. I was sitting in the first section off the floor all the way on the right side of the stage. There were a lot of Kat fans in my section (yay!). There was this one family sitting behind me: a husband and wife with two very small little girls. The wife and the daughters were wearing orange. The little girls also had tiaras on...it was adorable.

Anyway, since I had already seen the show before, I was really bored. I spent the entire time text messaging my friends and braiding and un-braiding strands of my hair. At the little intermission thing, I got up to get a Coke so I could take more Tylenol (I still had a 99 temperature and was pretty congested.) While I was walking to the concession stand, I passed by that place where people can write messages to their favorite Idols. It was so cute...a little boy and a little girl (I think they were brother and sister maybe..?) were fighting over the markers to write messages for Kat. I tried to take a picture, but it didn't come out at all. I kind of got a pic of the poster thing, which sort of came out, but not really. Here it is though...

After intermission, I sit back down and get back to texting and playing with my hair. The show continued on and the entire time, I was praying that Kat would be there because I still wasn't sure. After the girls' medley, I think, the lights went down and one of the guys on stage brings out a box-like thing. As soon as he sat on it, I knew exactly what it was: a box drum! I started jumping up and down and screaming and cheering. As soon as Kat started singing, the audience went crazy! People were cheering SOOO loudly and screaming Kat's name and "We love you, Katharine!" There were definitely a lot of Kat fans in the audience that night. It was great to see all the support for Kat.

When she finished her song, the audience kept cheering for her. very loudly. I kept on jumping up and down and the people in front of me were laughing at me because I must have looked absolutely ridiculous, but I didn't care. I was just so thrilled that Kat was there.

Anyway, Kat seemed to be overwhelmed by all the love and support. She put her hand over her heart and just kind of soaked up the moment and then wiped a tear away from her eye. When she started speaking, it was obvious that she was very choked up. A woman sitting a few seats down from me turned to her son and said, "Oh my god, she can't stop crying!" The woman sounded like she was on the verge of tears herself. The whole audience seemed to be very moved by Kat's reaction. It was great to witness Kat's first experience hearing a live audience of 20,000 people scream her name.

Then Kat sang SOTR and it sounded fantastic. The crowd quieted a bit to hear Kat sing, but there was still tons of cheering and screams of support for Kat. When she was done, she walked off stage and I sat back down and went back to being bored and feeling sick.

Anyway, Kat came back on for "Living in America," so I stood up again to cheer and scream and go crazy and all that fun stuff. She seemed a bit unsure of what she was supposed to do at times during the group number, but she still did a great job and seemed to be laughing and having a great time. I noticed her smiling and laughing with Chris and Lisa in particular. Then the idols left the stage and came back on for a final bow. I was cheering for Kat the whole time.

It was great to see Kat perform live. It was definitely worth the trip from NYC to DC despite the fact that I had a fever. I honestly think getting to see Kat perform made me feel a thousand times better than the Tylenol I kept taking. As Steve suggested, the McPheever is stronger than any real fever. I really hope all the McPhans and Kat Packers get the same opportunity I had (minus the fever of course). Kat was superb and it was definitely a great way for her to start the tour. I can't wait until she's on her own tour!!

Thanks for the review, onemoretime3. I hope you are feeling better now. Your fever is only up to 101, mcpheever is 106.7. Yep, mcpheever is definitely stronger.

the best way to break a fever, is drink a pint of crown royal, put the heat up full tilt, jump in bed, and pull the covers over your head, you will sweat it out, it works.
