Hi all,

As most of you know, Katharine's fanbase is going to put together the most robust, expansive effort a fan base has ever done for their icon.  It will be called Katpedia.com.

It's an online encyclopedia documenting everything about Katharine's career. It will have chapters on each week of AI, with text, photos, video. It will have specific chapters on things such as bulimia, the Dr. Keith Show, The Ghost of Mrs. Muir.

The objective is to document history and preserve it forever. The web is a tangled place. Forums are messy. We want to organize everything we've come across about Katharine from the web and on forums in one spot.  We want to make sure nothing slips into oblivion, never to be found again.

Phase I of the process with be just knowing our "personnel." Our human resources as a fan base.  Phase II will be identifying what tasks need to be completed, and then making task requests to people based on their strengths. We want to make sure we use everyone to their strengths. Allow them to contribute in the manner they want to contribute. Moreover, we want to make sure nobody is assigned too much work. It is crucial to us that nobody has to bear to big of a burden, and any efforts you put into this project are manageable.  We are hoping for 100 volunteers, and are already planning an easy web-based/email-based system to allow us to all easily know what tasks have been requested of us, know what tasks other people are working on, know what tasks have been completed, etc etc.

Our objective is to make this as simple and userfriendly as possible, with no more technical experise required than you need to operate in this forum.

We want to archive every photo we can, every magazine scan, every television and radio interview we can. We want to transcribe televised interview and break down articles based on category. So for instance, if Katharine in an article mentions the yellow dress, we want you to be able to cut and paste that text into a form online and add it to the category "Yellow Dress."  When one of our writers writes about the Yellow Dress (yes it gets its own chapter), they simply can pull up the Yellow Dress and instantly have reseach at their finger tips to integrate.

We are documenting history as it happened, so nothing will be lost. This is a wonderful way to allow people to celebrate Katharine, because to know her is to love her. I am sure we can educate people all over the world what a courageous, sweet, talented girl she is.

What we're looking to do now is to create a list of  skills/areas of expertise/areas one excels at or enjoys  that we can list as "checkable" boxes on the volunteer registration form that will be going up this week.  So we need YOUR feedback as to what these categories should be.

It can be ripping videos, treasure hunting (googling and finding stuff), writing, uploading pictures, resizing pictures, magazine scans, owning DIVX videos, collecting/owning TV interviews. Since this is such a huge project we basically need to identify every possible facet of the operation, so we can then know our personnel, and can divide up work in an efficient and fruitful manner.

If everyone can brainstorm and provide us with a list of skills/areas of expertise/areas one excels at or enjoys, it would be very helpful to the process of creating a volunteer database. I don't just mean what you personally do best, but what all the different types of things people can do. When you think about those things, try to break them down. For instance, photos may be that you want to collect photos or that you are good at croping photos. or that you have a huge online Kat photo album. Try to really get in depth because we want to make sure when people sign up, they can be specific about what they can bring/want to bring to the project.

Knowing our personnel will be a huge asset once we get the ball rolling.

Thanks so much.

Kenneth,
Like I said I would love to at least submit a header for the site. Some other things that I could do is crop photos, resize them, the the background out of them, basically anything with Adobe Photshop would be my favorite things to do, I could also catagorize articles or photos. My email is lauren_arndt17@yahoo.com if you need anything like that. Some things that maybe other people might want to do are:

- Type up TV interviews
- Keep a list of when Kat will be in Magazines or on TV
- A list of Kat's top songs, what place they were on Charts
- A list of any auditions that she might be attending
- Create a Photo gallery of her

Hope that I can help!

Kat's Comment to me:

"Lauren,
don't worry about your gift and not getting on time. That is sooo sweet but you didn't have to do that. I really appreciate it. I read your comment and it really touched me. I'm happy you enjoyed your first season of Idol. I mostly thank you for all your support. It means more than anything. I just love that people are enjoying the music. Keep in touch and thanks again. Cute page too!
