I saw an Elliot fan over on the AOL AI board gloating about Kat's position on a certain internet radio chart. I was suprised at her position but APALLED at the site's bias against her:

American Idol 5 third place contestant Elliott Yamin holds at number one for a sixth week with "Moody's Mood For Love", keeping AI5 champ Taylor Hicks at number two for a second week with "Do I Make You Proud".  Oddly, second place finisher Katharine McPhee is struggling to find an audience on UU-BRU Internet Radio.  Her original single, "My Destiny", stalled at #44 last month.  Meanwhile, her much ballyhooed duet cover of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" falls to #50 this week after peaking at a dismal #47 last week.  Instead of enjoying the success of previous AI second place finishers Clay Aiken (AI2), Diana DeGarmo (AI3) and Bo Bice (AI4)  (who have a total of eight top ten hits collectively), Katharine McPhee is in danger of becoming the worst performing American Idol runner up since season one's Justin Guarini, who has yet to chart.

I don't know what impact this site has, but we can't let stuff like this be written about her. There is a request page, and the first thing you'll notice is a huge thank you to the Taylor/Elliot fans for flooding the request lines, and we know what this means. The request is VERY easy. Type in artist, song, and press send. We could all take time to do each song at least five times (assuming there's no restriction). So let's do it!!

Don't you think this site is giving itself a little too much credit? If you ask them an artists' success hinders on their ranking on internet radio. I don't know anyone who listens internet radio. This sites rankings only reflect a very small amount of consumers. There seems to be a hundred different charts and ranking systems out there, only a few of which matter very much.

Considering the facts, one great rendition of an old song, and one song only die hard fans seem to like, neither of which is considered "radio friendly", the single is doing just fine. And even IF the single ends up being dubbed a flop, it's not the end of the world. The real barometer will be Kat's debut full length album.

But I don't want this to sound like I'm discounting our efforts or the importance of the single. In fact as soon as I'm done rambling on here I'm going straight over to 'keystone' and putting in my request. I'm just trying to keep things in prospective and maintain what sanity I have left.

I requested each song 5 times. Thanks for telling us about this site. It really made me mad when they compared Kat to Justin... no way!!! Kat is succeding already. Go Kat go!!! I also bought 2 more copies of her album today!

They may not be the biggest radio, but they do get traffic that I'm guessing is seen by thousands. I wouldn't want non-Kat fans reading that kind of statement (worst idol finisher in history) and discounting her as an artist. Damage control...

I realized that this radio is also part of Live 365, the site that hosts Idol Waves, so I launched the actual radio, and I will continue to monitor whether or not they will play her songs. Keep your fingers crossed...

I should clarify...They played Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and I am still waiting for My destiny. One thing bothered me though. The track they have is very bad quality.
