Katharine, Hey there, Kat. I am going to start this letter off with a confession... Katharine, I lied to you in my last letter, which as of right now, you probably have yet to read, but will hopefully have gotten to it before you read this letter. So, in my previous letter (also my first) to you I stated that I would not be seeing you in concert this summer, but thanks to an act of spontanaity I was able to be one of the lucky ones who's able to witness your more-than-extraordinary talent. I originally didn't think that anyone would drive me 2 or so hours to Charlotte to see you on a workday, nonetheless, but I thought wrong. There were just sooo many GRREAT reviews and praise coming from various concert goers that I got sucked into all the excitement and just couldn't bear to give up on such a great opportunity to see, imo, one of the greatest talents of my generation on her first concert tour. You definitely lived up to all the hype that surrounded your performances...plus some. What you did for Kellie during your performance in Charlotte could not have been any sweeter Your genuine care for everyone around you and all of your fans only begins to show how great of a role model you are to, not only young girls, but to grown women and men everywhere (as I'm sure you already know). Hi Kat, It was so nice to hear from you today through your message that you wrote to us. I really appreciate you taking the time out of your hectic schedule to keep in touch with us. Do you realize how exciting it is to see a new message from you on the site when you log on to it? Well, it is extremely exciitng for us to hear how you are doing. It is sooo great to hear that your foot is feeling alot better and that hopefully really soon you will be out of the boot. I am glad to hear that. GREAT NEWS! I hope you and the girls are enjoying all the goodies that were in the care packages. It was sooo fun to go out shopping knowing that I was getting stuff for you and the girls. I will be seeing you September 23rd in Bridgeport CT, and I cannot wait. That day can't come quick enough for me. I just know that it will be a day that I will never forget. I'm hoping that I will get the opportunity to meet you there, and I have been trying to get Meet and Greet Passes ( I had them for the 7/15/06 show when I delivered letters to Kellie for you, and I'm just hoping I will be lucky enough to get them again so this time I will be able to meet you - my #1 IDOL. To my idol, Kat, As I stare at my computer screen, I cannot think of what to say to you to accurately express how much you have changed my life in the course of one short year. I remember the first time I saw you when you auditioned for Idol, and as soon as you opened your mouth and let loose that God-given blessing of a voice, I knew that you and only you would be the contestant I would give my support to. I had no idea how quickly or strongly I would become attached to you. Week after week, I ran my phone bill sky-high voting for you for the whole 2 hours. I would sit at my computer for hours upon hours on the AI message boards declaring my loyalty to you and the Kat Pack. I literally stalked the poor sales associates at Best Buy on the day your single came out because they didn't have it on the shelves as soon as the store opened. (P.S. I don't think I'm allowed to go back there anymore.) I have never in my life become so engrossed in a celebrity before. I think the reason I have with you is that you don't seem like an ordinary celebrity. You're so glamorous and talented, and yet at the same time, you still have a cuteness and realism about you. You aren't fake or pretentious or diva-ish. You're real and approachable. That is why America, and me in particular, loves you! I know I come across as a little girl in this letter (and to anyone that I talk to about you), but I am actually almost 24! You bring out this childlike thing in me. In a very strange way, I look up to you, and you're younger than me! I was so excited to be able to see you in concert in Duluth, Georgia on August 3. I was so happy that you were feeling better and able to perform. My ticket was an anniversary present from my husband: floor seats, 2nd section center. I couldn't believe it. I had a poster that said “KAT” in huge blue, green, and purple letters on a yellow background. As soon as I heard you say “2, 3, 4,” I threw my poster up in the air and starting waving it and screaming like a teenager. (The people behind me didn't appreciate this, but I didn't care!) Seeing you in person was unbelievable! You are so incredible. I cried during your performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Seriously, what is this spell you have over me?? I'm a grown woman! After the concert, I tried and failed to get to meet you or get an autograph. I settled for writing a quick note to you on my poster and I gave it to a security guard, who promised he'd get it you. (It was really pretty until the guy next to me spilled his beer on it and messed half of it up!) Anyway, I hope that you got it and that you keep it as a reminder of how truly loved you are. Also, I hope it doesn't stink of beer anymore. You are so incredible, Katharine. You will always, always be my American Idol. I will always support you in your career. I hope someday to meet you, though I honestly don't know what I would say to you (after I stopped screaming and crying, of course). Dear Katharine, In this letter I’m going to do something a little bit different and tell you a story… Once upon a time, there was a music teacher and sometime songwriter & vocal arranger who watched American Idol every year. Well, except for the first year. I just saw the finale the first year. That was Justin & Kelly… Clarkson, of course. And I thought "A Moment Like This” sounded pretty good, and boy did she sing it with conviction. So then came Season 5. They said it was supposed to be a boys' year. They said it was supposed to be a boys' year, and it was, in a way. But we Katharine fans didn’t look at it that way. No matter how hard the judges and everyone else worked to make it a boys' year, Katharine’s amazing talent & charisma, plus her devoted fans, kept moving her up to the next week. And each night Ryan said, "You're through to the next round," we Kat fans cheered right along with her family and friends. The night that Chris left was nerve-wracking. I have to admit, we were a little worried that night. A fan named Kim (who goes by Trist in the internet world) rallied the Kat Pack like never before. Fellow fans were buying five Cingular Wireless phones and dialing, I don't know how, but all at the same time. (Does anyone else have a problem now reading the word "singular" and thinking "that's spelled wrong"? Sometimes I do.) Anyway, so here I am, this music teacher & sometime songwriter & vocal arranger, casual American Idol watcher, mom, wife, person who used to think “singular” was spelled fine, and all of that. And then onto the television screen steps Katharine McPhee In a jacket and jeans, kind of nervous and giggling. Remembering it now, the judges' eyes were pretty wide even before Katharine began to sing. The producers must have warned them that this girl "could really blow," as Randy would say. Well, of course, we all remember "Current?" That was really sweet. So, first she blew our minds with this amazing rendition of "God Bless the Child" and then she said "Current?" And then we were all hooked. Including me, the music teacher & sometime songwriter & vocal arranger. Who had only ever watched American Idol casually before. And now being a Katharine fan is like having a full-time job. And I would gladly work overtime for free. Bella, I always come in here and read the letters because they are inspirational and remind me why I'm here (even though I don't really need to be reminded). And I have to tell you I think the letters you've written for Katharine are great, and you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. If I know Kat, she will love and appreciate everything you wrote for her because it comes from the heart. I really think you are a better writer than you give yourself credit for. I'm very self conscious about my writing too so I know how you feel, but it doesn't seem to be slowing us down too much. I say just keep doing what you're doing, and let the rest take care of itself.

Katharine, Wow, it's been awhile since I've gotten a chance to really write to you. I wrote two letters before but that was before you were even back on the tour. I couldn't be happier that you are back and I don't just say that because I have Sept. 17th tickets and am going crazy in suspense. I am trying to find some way to get a chance to meet you, it's not going too well, heh. By the way, I can't believe you broke your foot! Horrible luck. Well, you are a trooper and let nothing stop you and of course, you make the best of it with those dancing hops across the stage. I hope that boot comes off as soon as possible. Oh, I went to the Rochester concert that was supposed to be your big night back and I was disappointed but not discouraged. I was there anyways in full support no matter what. I had an orange shirt on that said "I Love Kat" on the front, and "Get Well Soon Katharine" on the back. It disappointed me because a lot of people were uninformed that you were sick, so I was kind of your spokesperson. A lot of people asked me about you because of my shirt and some didn't even know you weren't going to be there. It was sad telling them that (and that the other Idols and concert venue didn't make that more known), but I felt good that now they knew WHY you weren't going to be there. I put a halt to those rumors. I think they thought I had some secret connection to you because people kept asking "How did you know she was going to be sick?" As if I predicted it or you lived with me. Haha. Soooo, I had to tell them I'm a big supporter and am constantly online finding out the news and such. My friend with me made a smart comment saying, "She's Obsessed!" and I quickly corrected her and said, "No, I'm dedicated." And that is the God's honest truth. I always tell my players that I coach for softball, "Dedication is the key to success!" And it is and was (Oh hours of voting how I miss you). All of your fans are the most dedicated people in this world. I'd put money on that. We love you so much and we love Kellie too. Haha. You and Kellie are so adorable and we love the friendship you two have. The video I saw of you singing to her was beautiful. Friendship is such a wonderful gift. You two are so lucky to have each other and to share this entire experience together. Today the JCPenney Jam is on and we are all so excited to see you sing with Bocelli and I saw there is a CD to buy of the Jam at JCPenney. I can't wait for that! That's a serious treat for us all. The boards are more alive then ever and we LOVE when you stop by to say hello. I hope you are having the time of your life on tour and be carefull, will ya? We love you more and more each day Kat. Dear Katharine, I sent you an email via your mother several weeks ago. Hope you got it. Just wanted to tell you that I'm one of your older fans, your mother's age to be exact, and that you've touched me in a way that no other performer ever has. It is just so wonderful to watch you perform. Your voice is absolutely beautiful and your stage presence is incredible. I've just never been so moved by a singer, ever! Oh, and you've got the cutest personality and sense of humor. I just adore watching and listening to you. Can't wait to see you live at your own concert in NY or NJ in the future. Kat- How’s it going? Is that boot ever coming off? Bet you can’t wait. Wouldn’t it be great if you could get rid of that thing and maybe add another song when you’re doing the Cali dates... Today I just wanted to let you know that it’s been so good hearing from you through you last letter. It put the biggest, most ridiculous smile on my face. It’s great to know you’re trying to stay in touch with the fans. Or you guyz are just trying to get another round of hampers. Gotcha! LOL I’m glad you’ve had some fun with all those little gifts. Those days on tour can be so long and tiring and it’s nice to just be able to take your mind off things sometimes. Like with reading letters... One last thing: I finally listened through all of Christina Aguilera’s Back To Basic… good stuff, awesome… you know what to do. Haha, no pressure! Hi Kat! You know, it's funny how I can't call you "Katharine" ... it seems so formal to me! You have this amazing capacity of making all of us, your fans, feel loved like we were really close to you... I guess that's why I can only call you Kat. As if we were friends - haha, I wish. I don't know if I'm making any sense... hehe, so let's change the subject... I'm sure that by now you already know how much we loved seeing you wearing glasses... I mean, I made a wallpaper with the pics 'cause I can't stop staring at them (please, don't think I'm crazy... haha)... the other day my mom was by my side while I was on the computer and I was like... "Mom, have you ever seen someone who looks absolutely amazing even wearing glasses?" and she was like... "No, why?" ... so I showed her your pictures and said... "Ok, now you have" =) I am really impressed how you never look bad in any pictures! Can't wait to meet you someday, 'cause I can't even imagine how beautiful you must be in person! People keep saying you look even better than in the pics, and I'm like "Ok, how's that possible?" ... Probably it's just because you're so special, in every way a human being can be. I was just watching one of my favorites performances of yours... "Bringing Out The Elvis" ... yes, I just love how you smiled the whole time, and you seemed to be having so much fun singing that! =) I really love it! It was the day Rachel Bilson was there, right? I found it so cool that you guys know each other, cause I watch The OC, and she's always been my favorite! I absolutely adore the pics of you two together! =) So, your single FINALLY got here last week... It took, like, forever! Over a month! It's gonna suck if I have to wait that long for your cd when it comes out... well, needless to say that all I listen to now is "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and "My Destiny"... you know, I guess my classmates are starting to think I'm crazy, 'cause I spend all day writing "Kat McPhee, Kat Pack, I Love Kat" and that kinda stuff in my notebooks, and books, and everywhere... hahaha and of course, I draw a lot of little hearts all around them... Oh, the orange glow stick I bought also got here... just yesterday... I know I'm not even going to the concerts, but I thought it would be nice to have a little memo of your first time in concert... it's not your own concert, but still... =) One thing I forgot to mention... may I say how I love your outfits? The pink shirt you're using in the glasses' pics... so cute! Ok, I love everything about those pics... LOL... But really, very cute! Hum, I guess I'm running out of things to say... I was glad to hear that your foot is getting better (btw, thanks for writing us that message... we appreciate it soooo much that you take the time to do that kinda stuff!), and I hope you enjoy your homecoming on Saturday... Dear Katharine, It's Demi!! I met you in Birmingham on August 8th. You were so great and so lovely that night. I did not get to take a picture with you because I did not have any film left so I was very sad about that. I really wanted to take a pic with you. I hope I get to meet you again and hopefully then I'll get to take a pic with you. I know your foot is getting better and better...how is it now? I hope it is ok. You're doing so awesome on the tour right now and everyone that goes is enjoying you!!!! You are doing GREAT on the two songs you are singing. Many of your fans have met you, and you have treated them so nicely and loving!! You were also soooooo amazing on the JcPenny Jam thingy. You look so lovely in every tour city you go to. I love your black dress very much. I like your hair being stright..but also like it curly!!!!!! You look great anyway so it does not matter. I wish I could go see you in every city you go on for the tour! I love your cd " My Destiny/Somewhere Over The Rainbow"! I listen to it everyday. You did a great job on that! I talk to your mom (that you alreadlt know), but she emailed again. You're so lucky to have a mom like her, and she is very VERY lucky to have a daughter like you. Your mom has raised you so great, and so has your dad. You are my idol and we always forever be. Bless you!!!! Dear Kat I watched the JC Penny Concert Jam last night and I thought you were so incredible! Oh God, I can't begin to tell you how great you were. Pretty impressive Kat. You tugged at my heart strings once again and I cried. Loved SOTR and your duet with Bocelli. They were spine-tingling! Another thing, I never been to an idol concert even though I had my past favs but I went this year to see you and only you. While I was pleasantly suprised I enjoyed most of the other idols when you came out I got butterflies. You were awesome. I had fun singing BHATCT with you and SOTR was beautiful. I look forward to your own tour. I feel like a teen-ager again. I have your concert poster on my wall. I haven't had a poster on my wall since Scott Baio. Ha-Ha! Anyways beautiful girl, you are really brillant. And from what I read in your interviews you seem to have a really great attitude about things. Like in US weekly you said if this is your 15 min you will still be a happy camper. It made me smile. It really showed how grateful you are for everything. You're an amazing person Ignore those who say otherwise. BTW I must of have listened to Somos Novious (I don't know how to spell it) like 500x already. Still in awe over your voice. Hi Kat!-- I haven't written to you for awhile, but after seeing you on the Penney Jam Concert last night the time has definitely come again. Your SOTR blew me away--absolutely breathtaking, incredible, and so many more descriptive words I can't even write them all. You really gave it your all--and that last note-- MY GOSH!!!!! Somos Novios was also spectacular, and both performances showed your true star talent. The warmth between you and Bocceli added to the performance, and you looked fantastic!! Hopefully, you will work with David and Andrea again soon! Kat, you should feel so proud of yourself, and you sure had a lot of proud fans here on this site last night after watching you.. The forums and the chat room were very active discussing your performances. ( I was hyper for hours after the show) From the recaps I've read, you have received great responses at all of your tour stops. You've definitely made many new fans with your awesome talent and stage presence. I'm glad some people have been able to meet you too. I guess you've seen some different parts of the country, and even have had some up close time with the animals at the fair. I imagine you enjoyed that a lot!!. By the time you get this you will either be in Cali, or have already made you tour visits there. I bet it was fun to be back for a change and have a home town concert. I'm getting excited since you'll be here Sept 2, and I'm so anxious to see you perform LIVE. Like everyone else, I'd like to meet you but don't know if I will be that fortunate. It was great of you to write again and express your appreciation for everything. You are such a thoughtful person to take the time to do this, and it's always so special for all of your fans who love you so much to hear from you. I'm sure you've heard this tons of times, but your versions on "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree", "Somewhere of the Rainbow", "Think" and "my Destiny" are better than the originals in my opinion! Hi Kat! This is Lauren again. I forgot to tell you that, even though you didn't win American Idol, you should have and in my eyes you did win. Sure Taylor Hicks and the "soul Patrol" may be popular now, but I doubt he will last as long as you will. I know you have replaced my other favorite singer (from when I was five)! I really really love your singing. I hope your career lasts extrememly long and that all your fans of today will contiune to be there for you along with more and more new ones. I know I will be! Hi Kat! I'm finally going to get to see you!! In Providence, Rhode Island, on the 22 of September. I have no idea how I could get to meet you. I don't have connections, or know how to get a meet and greet pass or invited to an after party. So I'm gonna hope and try to get a glimpse of you in passing. But I will remind you here, that I am your biggest fan in New England. I have your poster hanging in my house, and somehow you signed a CD for me recently, cause they emailed me and said it's on it's way, from livearts group. So Kat, if you get this before you go to Providence, maybe you could email me with an invitation to meet you when you get there.
