I thought I would come out and say how happy this thread has made me. I just couldn't stop smiling while reading your review and the rest of the comments. I know everything didn't go exactly as planned, but quite a few glow sticks did make it in (more than I expected to see) and they were spread from the floor to the highest balcony.

I didn't volunteer before hand because I really wasn't sure what time I would make it to the Staples Center and I didn't want to commit if I wasn't sure I could do it. When I first met you guys only eleven volunteers had showed up so I knew I had to help in any way that I could.

After the glow sticks started being confiscated we knew we had to sneak in as much as we could. I had glow sticks in my pants, in my shirt, hidden in spots in my bag, and hidden in my sweater that i had over my arm. My sister managed to get fifty glow sticks alone in her shirt. Every time we moved glow sticks would fall out of us somewhere. Everyone around us couldn't stop laughing. I was so scared entering the Staples Center because it was fairly obvious I had glow sticks in my pants, but all they did was take the Spray n Wash that I had in my bag, lol. When we got inside, we went down the concession lines and merch lines and handed them out. Although we ran out of what we had managed to sneak in very quickly, people were approaching us the entire night asking for more glow sticks.

I think everyone who helped put this together should feel very proud. It was amazing to see and I am glad I could help out in some way. About the pictures - I wasn't around when they were being taken (I was buying my Spray n Wash, haha) but there is only one on my camera? Should there be more? I will upload it and post it later tonight after I have unpacked.

A word from others about the homecoming concert:

From MJ’s blog (where posters are not always forthcoming with “glowing” words about our Katharine):
I have to be honest, I saw a lot more orange glowsticks and Kat fans than I expected, and FYI, after SOTR, she did get I'd say about a 80-90% standing ovation.

From the IDF boards:
I thought Kat got a lot of cheers especially when she started SOTR. You could hear people yelling. There was lots of love for Kat. Lots of love.

GLOWMOMMA!!! You are so incredibly amazing!! !So are all of the volunteers. Next time I am flying out there to help out for the next project! I dont care haha. Thanks to those that took care of all of them last night, we appreciate it. I am glad Kat saw them, that was the whole purpose, to show her love. I wonder how Mike is feeling today haha. Nancy enjoy the show tonight... scream out to kat that we love her for us!!!!

Katharine- so like it kinda settles down from the boys...and the all of a sudden you hear "2, 3, 4!" and the noise went back up again lol She was AMAZING, her voice was like perfect and shes was effing GORGEOUS, like she was hot on TV but i was like in awe. she did 3 songs which was awesome i was glad she did think because it was one of my favorites of hers, the order went BHACHT, Think, and SOTR. Somewhere over the rainbow, is like a song that no one else will be able to do other than her, I think that they shouldnt even allow anyone in the future seasons to do it because she did it so perfectly, i was in love and the crowd was in LOVE.

So then the boys leave and after a few seconds of darkness I hear "1..2..3..4!!!" Suddenly all the orange glow sticks (that weren't taken by security) come out. There's orange like, EVERYWHERE!!! I though Kat was really good. She sang SOTR beautifully... she really impressed me last night. Los Angelas really loves their hometown girl!

Vadia your recap made me laugh and cry. Katidol being chased and maddie's concern about whether she is still going to get to hand out glowsticks was hilarious. Some dedicated Kat fans I tell you. But hey look at our idol. It is no wonder. We only have the best idol ever!

Thanks V, it's a great story, and I'm sure one you'll be telling your grand-kids one day. Your swift and intellegent decisions on the battlefield turned what could have been a Kat-astropie into McMission accomplished. And it sounds like Michael is a real pro at 'security evasion'! So it's understandable you used him to create a diversion while your northern 'Special Forces' unit  stuffed their unis full from top to bottom with our orange ammo.

All in all kudos on a class operation McGeneral V!

Oh dear, reading all this... it was so funny and so touching. Makes an old grouch want to cry. It's kinda like she sang in Think--you need me, and I need you. We have our idol, she has her crazy dedicated fans. Way to go, guys.

It was great meeting you, Vadia! Lol. My younger sister said you kinda sound like Kat when you talk! lol. The concert was AMAZING! When she came out, I was so speechless. I mean c'mon.. It was Katharine McPhee in the flesh! My heart was beating so fast too! lol.. Great recap btw!

Yay! I'm so happy to see your post today! There are a few of us Canadians who are regular posters here but it was a special treat to hear about our fellow Canadians being singled out for "special mention in dispatches for actions of great bravery and valour, above and beyond the call of duty, and in the very face of the enemy"! You did us proud.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in this project. What is also very heartening are the stories of the rest of the audience - seems they were unanimously behind the project and couldn't get enough of it! What a great reflection on Kat and her fans, perhaps we even made a few more.

Who else has ever done such a thing in the history of American Idol?
