I know that everyone is worried about getting cameras into Staples Center for Kat's homecoming, but I bring you good news. I just came back from a Staple Center concert and here is the run down...

Girls, put your cameras in a compartment in your purse, and stuff lots of things in your purse...the purses do not go throught the metal detectors, and the checking is uber fast! I was able to sneak in a camera so you can too!

Guys, find a girl with a purse to carry in your camera!!

Thanks, that's good to know. Have you seen any movie cameras, like camcorders...I guess they're too big.

No Brooms????

What is that? Discrimination against Witches? Curlers?

Suppose you just want to have a quick sweep up??? Guess you are out of luck.

Well, at Staples Center they have a metal detector...so, it might buzz...

Why would you bring a broom?  I know sometimes at baseball games people bring brooms to signify the home team is about the "sweep" their opponent but...well I guess if the Lakers, Clippers or Kings were about the "sweep" a playoff series.  I guess that's why somebody might have one.  Either that or they are a real neat freak.

From my experience...they don't check you that well.  They'll ask you to open whatever bags you have and they'll look.  But if you don't look suspicious (whatever that is) and they don't see anything on first view...you should be able to get a camera in if it is small enough to hide inside a compartment in purses/small bags...

We absolutely must ask the Staples Center what in God's name they're talking about when they say not to bring brooms.  I get all the others (well, even fireworks is bordering on insanity)--but they wouldn't mention brooms if they actually hadn't had people bring them. Maybe that was some kind of weapon of choice by the old lady fans when the Lakers went bad.

That policy sounds about as strict as the Rose Garden Arena. The bigger the venue, the more strict they seem to be--though I'm going to attempt to take in at least a regular camera to the Portland show. Just like here, they just inspect your purses or bags. Thank God we haven't gotten to the frisking stage yet in performing venues...even though threats from terrorists may change that eventually.

Hopefully the Rose Garden Arena allows hair dryers in case someone decides to dump a beer on me because I'm wearing orange. Well, my reflexes are fairly fast, so I can probably avoid any kind of troublemakers.
