Write Kat on the Road Update

The first round of letters will be delivered to Kat or another Idol contestant by KatPack1198 on Sunday, July 16. There are 51 letters total dated from June 30 - July 12. (NOTE: We had a minor glitch with the first person on July 6)

This letter writing project will be going on throughout the tour.  The next round of letters (July 12 - ?) will be given to her once we get a confirmed person lined up who will be meeting Kat.

Thanks to all who have written so far . . . . remember to keep on writing, Kat loves to hear from her fans (and please keep the letters family-friendly)!

Dear Kat,

         Hi there! I hope you're feeling well. You missed the tour but I'm sure Mcphans will understand. You should really watch out that throat. We don't want to miss your sweet voice.
          I'd like to thank you for taking time answering our questions. I got so really lucky that mine was among the chosen few. You know, the one wanting to know your heart's desire. And oh, I made this poem. Plainly written. Simple but I hope you'll like it.

I have seen you smile
I have seen you cry
I have seen how you fight it out
To get to where you are
Your journey has began
The moment you stand on line
Hearing your beautiful voice
I knew you’d be fine.
You made it through and through
And you landed at number two
You may not have made it

I understood what this meant, but it seems odd that only one person posted a letter since you wrote this, Co. 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I took this to mean that anyone that edits a post prior to yours here won't get their edited version sent.  So it's still okay to write new letters, post and edit them here.  They will merely be added to the next round of letters.

I'm guessing that either people are confused, or they don't want to write a letter without a confirmation on when Kat might receive them.

Now even I'm confused.

From what I understand here, ALL of the letters written between June 30-July 12 will be sent again after an attempt was already made but failed. And let's praise the fates, because we had a chance to edit ours and will hopefully be the versions Kat will see. That is (and I guess what I'm confused on) the first batch were already printed out before we did the edits?

I'm guessing that's why Co said to do edits after the July 12 ones.

Then, of course, there's the worry that these comments we're making will accidentally get printed and sent to Kat showing how confused we are.

Greg, I think Co meant that she printed everything out as of her posting.  I think that means that those of us who took advantage of the newly activated Edit feature quickly enough got our corrected letters in.  (I'd guess that was only you and me.)

So she wants people to keep posting new letters in this same thread, and they may edit those posts as necessary. 

It just seems weird to me that only one person posted after Co wrote that.  So I think maybe some people misunderstood and thought they aren't supposed to post at all anymore on this thread. 

As for Kat reading all of this... I spoke to Co in Live Chat, and she will be printing out anything she believes would interest Kat.  So that may include posts other than letters, but I doubt that would include our "" posts.

Yeah, Mutt, that makes more sense now. And here we write a lot on here...and we may have been the only ones who needed edits. I guess when you get inspired in writing--the emotion comes first.

You never know, small talk like these posts may come in handy for Kat when you have nothing to look at but highway at 3 o'clock in the morning...and Kellie snoring in the seat ahead of you.

Hey Greg & Mutt,

I just came over and saw your posts and thought I better respond.  Basically, what I was trying to relay is people should only edit the letters from July 12 forward, as the next delivery of letters will include the most recent ones, so people shouldn't edit their letters prior to July 12.

I copied the letters into Word just to make it easier to print and included some back 'n forth posting between Mutt and Stellabelle because it was sweet, and thought Kat would like to read how her fans are so helpful to one another.   Now this back'n' forth posting I won't include as we sound confused - LOL.

We definitely want people to continue writing to Kat (not sure why only one letter since I posted???).  I noticed the moderators moved a post I had reminding people to write over to the Katharine Projects folder.  I'll probably do some more marketing on the IDF and AI boards after we get our first report from Melissa who will be delivering them on July 16.  Melissa is putting the letters in a binder for Kat, so as the project proceeds the most recent letters will get added to the binder.  What a cool keepsake this will be for Kat, letters from her fans while she tours.  In the meantime, please write Kat a letter and encourage others to do so too.

I hope this cleared up any questions you may have.

Hi Kat!---I'm not sure where you are right now, but throughout the world we are feeling the effects of the "Magical Spell" (McPheever) you have cast upon us, and it continues to grow stronger! I can't believe how busy you have been since AI- doing all of the interviews, mag. articles, photoshoots(WOW), appearances, concerts and recording your fantastic CD. All of your proud Phans have been very busy keeping up with your accomplishments. We appreciate so much the close connection you keep with us, and remember we will always be there to love and support you. I love your outgoing personality and humor along with your inner qualities of sincerity, very caring ,and warmth. Some of your interview clips etc. have given me a good laugh. Since AI started I have either written to you , or written about you, enough different descriptive words about how AMAZING and SPECIAL you are to fill a book, so I won"t be repetitious here. I will say you "captured" me when I first saw you on AI, and that feeling intensifies the more I read, see or hear about you. You have certainly brightened up my life, and you are a true inspiration to all ages!! When I hear you sing or watch your performances from AI, it makes me feel exhilarated and young again.(at my age that is amazing in itself) After I see you perform LIVE in Sept. I'll probable feel like a toddler again. Enjoy the experiences of the tour and if you get bored, try counting Black Horses and Cherry Trees as you ride along.---PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF! Hi again Kat!

I hope you got to read my first letter... maybe you'll remember, I'm the brazilian girl... =)

So... today when I woke up I was already thinking what I could write you, but it's so difficult... I don't wanna be boring saying again things I said in the other letter, but at the same time it's just impossible not to tell you how much I love and admire you.

You know, I bought your single a while ago, and I'm so anxious because it's taking so long to get here... but I heard some seconds of each song, I think on AOL, and I don't know how, but you managed to make me love your voice even more (I didn't know that was possible)... Really Kat, both songs are soooo beautiful! I can't wait to hear the full versions when the single gets here.

That remembers me, yesterday I was listening to the CD I made with the songs you sung on AI (I can't go through one single day without listening to it). So, as I was alone at home, I put it really loud so I could give all the building the pleasure to hear your voice... maybe they'll become McPhans too! hahaha... Everytime I travel with my family I make them listen to this CD in the car... can you believe my mom is becoming jealous because I love you so much?? LOL...

By the end of this year I'll be doing some exams to try to get into a good college here in Brazil, and my parents said that if I do well on them and actually enter in college, they'll let me go spend some months in the US next year. How great is that?? I'm praying so much that if this happens I'll be able to go see your own concert! I can't wait for your album!!! =)

I hope you received our "get well soon" gifts... and I'm happy that you'll be fully recovered by the time you read this... =) Enjoy the tour as much as you can... you deserve all the best! Oh, I forgot to tell you I'm now officially a member of the KatPack =) It took me some time to find out how to enter it.

Oh yeah, I can't forget to tell you how happy I am for all your success... I get sooo excited when I see you in a magazine or when I hear someone saying nice things about you! I have a friend who's spending sometime in the US, and I was like "You'd better get me every magazine that has anything about Kat!!!" ... hahaha...of course I already saw the photos and articles on the Internet, and they're all amazing... but hey, how they could NOT be amazing if they include you? ;)

I guess that's it for today... I wrote enough for one letter, right? I'm sure you still have a lot to read, 'cause lots of us here in KMF wrote you this time... But be sure that next time you receive our letters, there's gonna be one written by me there again. =)

Dear Kat,

So, errr, remember how I was talking about my dog toasting away in the sun in my last letter? Yeah, just to be clear about this, she’s stupid enough to do that to herself, always going for the most sunny spot she can find; I just always try to get her outta the sun in time. She’s a stubborn little dachshund, what can I say.

Okay, that was random. Anyways, I’m very much hoping that you’re fully recovered and back on tour by the time you read this and that you’re having a blast being back on stage! I wish I could just hop on a plane for the Cali tour dates. I really miss LA and I’d love to see and hear you perform live. Oh well, like I’ve said before, maybe some other time.

Dear Kat,

First and foremost I want to say I am a huge fan and will follow you to the ends of the earth (I promise I won't stalk-ha-ha). I mean I will buy all your albums, see all your movies, watch every talk show you are on and buy every magazine you are in. You were my favorite of all AI contestants ever and I don't think anyone can top you. I know they can't.  I thoroughly enjoyed all your performances. Your voice is so beautiful and such stage presence you have. You are just so amazing!  You melted me each week.  Your beauty and vulnerability  are visceral. Anyways Kat, I wanted to give you some kind of inspiring quote. I am reading a book by Dr. Wayne Dyer "Inspiration Your Ultimate Calling" and I have been looking through it and something tells me to put this one, "A sense of separation from God is the only lack you really need to correct"- from A Course In Miracles. I am also one of your "older" fans, and I have never been involved with any fan club before. There is something so special about you that touches the heart and makes me want to support you in any way I can. I found myself defending you against all criticism while on idol and my coworkers and family feel that I have been "obsessed" with following you. I have children your age and I find myself supporting you as I would my own kids.
