Hi Goodiesman! I finally made it back to Colorado, a few pounds heavier from all the cat hair! LOL! Had to take one cat to the vet...he hurt his back leg. He was not a good patient and so I was completely covered with long, yellow hairs!
I posted the original banner with the photos of Andrea, Josh, Peter and Katharine. I copied it from TicketMaster's site. I can't imagine them doing false advertising, but, one never knows. I'm in the process of trying to get some answers for you!
Please, do not get over stressed about it! I'm sure we will have a "definite" in time for you to recoup your funds if Katharine is not appearing that night. I can't imagine her not performing at a concert billed as honoring and celebrating her "mentor's music....even though I'm sure that is not what you are really concerned about.
I think we all here know how much you care for Katharine and how much you are looking forward to seeing her in this particular program! But, at the same time, I think I could pretty much venture to say that Katharine would not want you to jeopardize your health in any way!.....nor would any of us! We value your contributions to this site and want you around a long, long, time!!!
I would just love to see Katharine and Josh Groban in a duet. I think they have a perfect voice blend
Oh, people are now doubting whether Katharine will show up? She's still in the event description and the promotional graphic, but she's not in the event title anymore - it now says "BOCELLI, BUBLE, GROBAN + other greats". (In other words, they did the opposite of the change in Gilligan's Island theme: "and the rest" became "the professor and Mary Ann." ) I guess the promoters don't think her name is big enough to be used in the promotion, which is troubling, but a different problem. I think she'll be performing.
Hi Everyone! Just checked MySpace and here is the definite news from Katharine herself!
Hope this reassures everyone!
Goody, I just know you will have a great review for us! For now, do everything your doctor tells you so that you will be fit and well to enjoy the wonderful event! We'll be depending on you to represent us!
Here is the "poster" that is on Kat's MySpace Page.....
About Katharine McPhee
For those of you who will be attending the Las Vegas concert and for those who just might be interested in what songs that David Foster either wrote, arranged, played and produced, I have found some sites that might be of interest.

I know! Or what if Foster & Bocelli hadn't been mentors on Idol in Season 5! What if they'd been in Season 6 instead? Maybe they'd be doing things for Haley instead! OK, probably not. Haha.
You think what sealed it for her was that little opera bit? I'd love to know if Foster asked her to do that to surprise Andrea. Regardless, it's probably the best thing that's ever happened to her musically for sure.
I hope her connections with Foster & Friends will lead to touring with one of his bigger names in the future. That would be very cool.
I'm trying to think of anybody else who could have just spontaneously burst into song in Italian like that, and drawing a blank. But with Katharine, who knew? She just did the occasional totally unexpected thing, sometimes ditzy, sometimes sizzly, sometimes classy, that was just part of her charm.
And Foster said it was Bocelli who suggested to him that they take her on tour, so who knows where the idea originated. I guess he might have suggested it to her to see how AB would react... but how did he know she could do that?
Everyone seemed to like the way she sounded with that young Groban-clone-type kid whose name I forget, Cody somebody? so why not pair her up with the original? That would certainly make my day.
I have become more and more convinced with each development lately that Kat will or is already signed with Warners, possibly 143 as the actual label. All roads lately lead to David and I think he is thrilled to have her. Plus remember that Kara is now working with Warners as well. I just hope and pray that they will believe in her as much as David does and be dedicated to developing her as the great artist she deserves to be!
^Good-looking poster to sell that event--though I somehow picture Groban and Buble flipping a coin on who got top billing. The way it appears they did it there is similar to how it was done when two major stars during Hollywood's yesteryear argued over who got top billing in a movie. Frequently, the problem was solved by just having their mugs parallel to each other on the poster (or parallel names in the opening credits).
And then there's some who think being on the right isn't really true star billing.
That's quite a dramatic picture of David Foster there, too. He looks like a Beethoven bust--and most people who work with him say he's almost as musically brilliant. While I'm not a fan of his sometimes over-slick arranging style--he has a brilliant musical ear, a superior songwriting talent and an obvious sixth-sense on new talent as already mentioned. In another few years, his house of Foster children should be fairly huge. It's amazing to realize he may have Kat in that successful circle now.
Well, my mom's been a longtime Michael Buble fan (I've met the guy and his great family a couple of times in Portland)--so going to this would be an unusual time when one of my favorite artists is performing on the same bill with my mom's. We probably won't be going to Las Vegas then, however, though watching it on DVD on a digital TV will be actually better.
Yeah, I'm one to think that watching concerts on digital TV is sometimes more superior to fighting all the chaos live.
I just hope my local PBS station (KOPB) carries it in December. They've been bleeding money for the last several years, which has meant uncharacteristically cutting a lot of shows that were shown in other PBS markets.
Good luck to those who'll be making the trek. And please don't jeopardize your health for the sake of going to a concert.
If I remember right, didn't Kat perform at Mandalay Bay this last year? I think that's the Vegas show where people were wading in the swimming pool while they watched Kat perform...from about three miles away. It wasn't the greatest possible environment for performing, but we'll assume the surroundings will be better this time. I'm sure DF knows how to handle drunk audience members...
Has anyone else ever noticed the difference between Andrea performing a duet with others compared to when he sings with Katharine?
I was just enjoying watching some video of him performing duets and I have to say that although his duets are always amazing (such as his performance with Christina A.), he really seems to become more "alive" when he sings with Katharine! Andrea looks to be so much more relaxed and "there" when he and Katharine are performing together. They truly create magic and seem to genuinely enjoy the experience. When Andrea performed in the Christmas special, he seemed so lost and vulnerable. Perhaps he just wasn't feeling well.
I sure hope that Katharine and Andrea will be performing another duet at the Las Vegas Concert in May! I agree with others that Katharine's voice is able to blend beautifully with any of the listed vocalists for that night. What I wouldn't give to be there to experience the magic!!
Here's where I wish I could find that picture from one of the Foster concerts where she was kind of playing around with Bocelli and was tapping him on the nose with her finger or something silly like that. Maybe that was her way of saying 'Hey, it's me, how many people tickle the great Bocelli on the nose?' They just seem to have some strange kind of connection, and I think he senses something from her... I don't exactly know how to describe it, but that picture captures it. You can see it in pictures of her with Foster as well.
Okay, I found it.
Here's another one that illustrates what I was talking about. Isn't this a great picture?
